To see some of Band-Maid's variety, check out their official live Manners/Black Hole. It's two of their songs in one video. During the pandemic, like other bands, they had to resort to things like online concerts. While this doesn't have the audience interaction, it still has their awesome energy & musical chops. And, the two songs are quite different from each other, hence, the variety. ❤👍 (AND IT HAS SUBTITLES)

It is not necessary to flip the videos for Band-Maid, Molly Bee. Band-Maid loves their fans, and they are highly cooperative with people who react to their music. I have not heard of them copyright-claiming against the reactors, forcing a demonetisation of these videos. So, go ahead, display Band-Maid at their full glory without laterally flipping the videos. BAND-MAID doesn't copyright strike. Although, as a lefty bassist, I can dig it...no need to reverse videos or do other tricks on official videos. BAND-MAID only exists today because of the fans on KZbin. 🙂

There are few different live performances you should really checkout.. "Play", "Real Existence" and "Domination" live just to name a few.. and some MV's to checkout include "Manners", "Warning", "Blooming"... A few of their newer song MV's like "Influencer" and "From now on". All are outstanding so you really just can't go wrong with one of these or pick one yourself... enjoy.

The thing about Thrill is that it’s a good song but it’s very simple and might lead some to think that Band Maid is a good, but generic, band. Nothing really special. But they are special… legions of seasoned rock & metal fans aren’t wrong! Freedom is a nice step up. I’d suggest their newest live release “Puzzle”. It’s one of their best, though not newest, songs. And for something really new check out “Influencer”, and their instrumental “From Now On”.

Yep, Akane is one happy, very talented and hard working drummer!🥁🦍🍌 The other singer you mentioned is Miku who is the band founder, lyricist, rhythm guitar, PR person, and an 810-year old pigeon, PO!🕊💕 She was the original lead singer of this band, but she thought that her voice was too cute for this band, so she recruited another singer, Saiki, who has a more powerful voice. Miku has several lead songs. Fun little note about this one that I didn't see mentioned. When Miku's (The other singer) time to sing comes up, you see Kanami (the Guitarist) squat down and stare up at her. She's sitting on the little monitor that shows the artist their own lyrics in case they forget, blocking Miku, because at a previous show she had a brain fart or something and forgot the words. So this was Kanami teasing her like "You know them now, right?" They also tend to make faces at Akane (the drummer), to try to throw her off beat. Never works. And in the video for "Play", Saiki (the lead singer) tries to fool around with her, but Akane does some goofy poses (while never missing a beat) and you can hear Saiki laugh as she starts singing her part again. And lastly cause I didn't mention her. MISA (The bassist. And yes, you always spell her name with all caps) tends to drink hard liquor as her stage drink instead of water. Because even though she looks cool, and badass, She's actually pretty shy. So that's drunken master bass playing you're hearing. lol

This is quite rightly the (unofficial) anthem of these ladies. It shows that they are excellent at what they do, but at the same time it shows that what you mentioned. They have a super power when it comes to mood lifting. Having a bad day? Listen to more Band-Maid! They're also awesome in every way musically. And yes, the crowd interaction is off the charts at a maid concert. Doesn't matter if you don't know the words. If you're not yelling the hey! hey! or other sing-along parts (there are a LOT of singalongs), Miku will pick you out of a crowd of thousands and hit you over the head.

I'm glad you did Freedom second. This is a good stepping stone. AS you go on you will find different styles and sounds and you will love it. Many of the newer vids have lyrics in the closed captions. The second singer, (red rose) Miku, put the band together. So much for you to discover. May I suggest Dice mv or the new Puzzle live. Have fun!

This song is newer than Thrill, however, it is still from the period of their career when they weren't allowed to write their own music. When Kanami, the lead guitarist, took over as composer is when their music became more complex. I still love these early songs, but the combination of Kanami (composer) and Miku (lyricist) marks a turning point in their evolution. Hi Molly, It's good to see you experiencing my favorite band (although I'm not an actual Maidiac). There is an almost endless supply of great songs and performances from BAND-MAID. The music video "Dice" (or the online concert live video), live video "Real Existence", and live video "Domination", and if you can find it, "Moratorium" live at Shinkiba Studio Coast (again, if you can find it) are only a few of my favorites. The music video of the instrumental "From Now On" is jaw- dropping, if only with a tiny bit of a harder edge than those others 😁. I hope that the Maidiacs don't mind that I wander off-topic. It has been a while since you've checked in with Diana. She is approaching her 20th birthday and has just released a new music video. I think that you'll be surprised. Freedom is a good introduction to Band-Maid. It has great crowd participation -- the iconic drum solo from Akane (drummer) -- and lots of fun between the band members as they pull faces to try to get the drummer to make mistakes -- she pulls faces back at them and plays flawlessly. It is a lightweight song -- very happy and upbeat -- that they didn't write themselves. I would suggest something a little more complex like Blooming (music video) or the instrumental "From Now On" (music video) -- these are songs they wrote ... and by "they" I mean the lead guitarist Kanami.

Band-Maid is one of the rare bands where you don't need to flip or filter their videos during a reaction. The Ladies themselves enjoy watching them, and their management company consider reaction videos to be free advertising, and if you become established enough and offer truly genuine reactions, they will do a revenue share with you. It could be only a few cents, but they wish to encourage good reactors. And if you are looking for something that shows the breadth of style these Ladies play, I would suggest the On-Line Live double video of Manners - Black Hole from their channel. During the lockdowns the Ladies performed several online concerts for their fans and they have songs from a few of those performances available on their channel. They also have Dice-Different, No God, Thrill, Warning, and About Us. I should warn you that About Us, is a very VERY personal song from the Ladies to their fans, or "Masters and Princesses" as they call us. It is about how they missed being able to perform live for us and how they wished to to meet us. After the lockdowns ended, and they started touring again, during their 2022 US tour, they wrote a follow up called "Memorable" while on tour and performed it live during their 2022 Tour Ending Concert/10th anniversary announcement concert on January 9th, at the Tokyo Gardens Theater in front of 8,000 fans. The MV of Memorable uses footage from that concert plus footage of Miku taken in the US outside of Lancaster California. And on April 26th, the Ladies are releasing the January 9th concert on DVD/BluRay, with special preorders also getting a 90 minute behind the scenes documentary of their 2022 US tour and a 100 page photo book. You can go to their web site bandmaid.tokyo to find where to purchase it from and also sign up for their newsletter. They also have a paid fan club with special offers and a paid special access site for more behind the scenes videos and photos that is updated quite often.

This is the video that made me a full-fledged Madiac and confirmed my love of Akane (the drummer). I recommend checking out the official live videos for "Domination", "Play" and their latest "Puzzle", also the MVs for"Alone (the first song they wrote that the record company allowed on an album), "YOLO", "The Non-Fiction Days", "Warning" and then all the rest of their videos. Not that I'm biased towards my favorite band in the world or anything.

Band-Maid are not alone in this space anymore, Lonesome_Blue are following a similar path in terms of the style of music and high quality, their track “Face the Fear” spells this out. It’s a good thing, Band-Maid are undoubtedly excellent, so having real peers in the space making excellent music can only be a good thing. There are MANY more bands in the J-Metal space but not so many making accessible rock / metal of this quality. Domination live is pretty much Band-Maid’s calling card, it’s from the same concert and I think it shows them being a tight knit band even better than Freedom does. Actually seeing them live is an addictive experience, they are so genuine and have so much fun it’s impossible not to leave their show with a huge smile and a warm feeling inside (it wasn’t just the beer). 😬

They have total control of their Music!!! Start to the order the songs are on the album. Kanami, lead guitar, writes the basic song sending it the to Akane, drums and MISA, bass for their lines. From there it goes to Miku, red flower & spokes pigeon, for the lyrics. Now Saiki, vocals is co-writing lyrics now and now has wrote the lyrics for 3 songs. Then they go into the studio to "fine tune" and finish. Saiki has the "We're Done" call. NEXT - Unlucky Morpheus - "Angreifer" You'll love Jill!!!

You cannot go wrong on which song to pick next. All songs already mentioned in the comments are excellent. My favorite is "Play Live", but you could also pick Domination, Rinne, Moratorium, Puzzle, Turn Me On, Dice, Manners, Black Hole, and the list goes on. All of them excellent and wow-worthy. You know you do not have to do anything to the video, Band-Maid likes to watch reaction videos of their music. Try Domination, Play, Onset, Puzzle, Real Existence Live versions also MV for From Now On, Daydreaming, Influencer. Another Japan group that is good is Lovebites

Oh no, you accidentally reacted to MAID-BAND. None of the ladies in BAND-MAID play their instruments left handed, that's the give away. This is the impostor band from the Mirror Dimension. That's ok, I guess. MAID-BAND is pretty good, too. 😉

Hi Molly, Thrill and Freedom from BAND-MAID is a nice mix. They have much more in the same genre, and you cannot really go wrong. They also have some different stuff, maybe also look at "From now on" that is an instrumental where they can show off their skills. Its good. Another, slightly different one is Manners. The official live of "Manners", with "Black Hole" is the best one, even though "Black Hole" is not my favorite. But, even more important is that the Japanese female rock/metal scene has so much more to offer. Two groups are often mentioned together with BAND-MAID, and that is Lovebites and Nemophila. Lovebites is heavy metal (plus actually more) and they are scary good. You do NOT get better than them at what they do. No competition today. They have LOADS of music, I think they are up to 70 or 80 songs by now. And they are all good. They are heavy metal hit machines. I would recommend to start with anyone of the two live performances of "Holy War" in 2020 or "The Hammer of Wrath" in 2023. Their aesthetic is white dresses. Here I generally recommend live. Their movies tends to be over produced, even though they are also good; in particular the guitar shredding is just as insane as live. The singer is a surprise. She is impressive, but with a tone you would net expect. Nemophila is a kind of super group consisting of very good musicians that came from other groups. They were friends and used to jam together, mainly doing rock and metal covers, western or Japanese. They decided that they liked this and formed a group. They are more allround than BAND-MAID and Lovebites and play whatever really, but with a metal twist. Their singer Mayo can both sing (with a rasp) and has a high pitch scream. The drummer is one of Japan's best drummers. She is also a session drummer and can play anything. The guitarists are also killer, and just like Lovebites it is two lead guitarists. Apropos covers, they have a bunch of very good original songs but you shall not forget their covers. They are sometimes called the cover queens. They are really good at it. So? What to start with? I would recommend the music movies Revive, Raitai and Adabana. BTW - there is no risk in looking at music movies from Nemophila, they are almost all one take semi live without much post production. They are quite new and the live movies are a bit lacking. There are some good ones coming up, but seldom with stellar sound. They need to get themselves some pro audio staff and make live takes of Lovebites or BAND-MAID quality.

Hi Molly, Japan is loaded with all Female rock bands. To include Heavy Metal, Hard Rock and rock. On the heavy metal side check out a band called LOVEBITES. They are one of the best bands out there. A good starting song is Holy War - Live. I think you will like them. On the Band Maid side check out "Daydreaming" I consider it one of there best songs. Kanami's masterpiece.

BAND-MAID is a great live band. That's what I have experienced many times at this band's concerts every time I have the opportunity since 2019. The live performance is truly amazing, especially the great bass sound of MISA's bass and AKANE's drums, which can never be known on recordings. I still vividly remember being overwhelmed by the great sound and enthusiasm of the band at the concert venue in Shibuya where this song was performed. It was a sound of another world and dimension from the studio recording. The band frequently performs upgraded versions and special tour-only editions in their live performances. I have been to many concerts of this band since 2019. And I am amazed to discover evolution and development at every concert. I really don't get 'bored' or 'used to' this band's concerts. And I am acutely aware that this band is a live band. BAND-MAIDはライブでの生演奏が素晴らしいバンドです。 それは私が2019年から機会がある度にこのバンドのコンサートで何度も体験して来た事です。 ライブは本当に素晴らしく、特にMISAのベースとAKANEのドラムの素晴らしい低音は録音では絶対に知る事ができません。 私は、この曲が演奏された渋谷のコンサート会場で当日、このバンドの素晴らしい音と熱気に圧倒された事を今も鮮明に覚えています。 それはスタジオ録音とは別世界・別次元の音でした。 このバンドは、ライブ演奏でバージョンアップ版やツアー限りの特別版が頻繁に演奏します。 私は2019年から、このバンドのコンサートに何度も足を運んでいます。そして演奏会の度に進化や発展を発見して驚いています。 本当にこのバンドのコンサートは「飽きる」とか「慣れる」という事とは無縁です。 そして、このバンドはライブバンドである事を痛感しています。

If you like Anime , you should check out their MV of Unleashed !!!!! . Akane is the happiest Drummer in the World 😂 Other Suggestions other Bands : All Female Power . Hanabie " We love Sweets " and Gacharic Spin " Mindset " or " I wish I " . Japanese Rock/Metal can really be a Rabbithole. They do things different , mix Genres but always a burst of Energy. ( Sorry my English is far from being perfect , German )

I'd recommend on regular music videos, do a first watch without lyrics since it will take your focus away. For audio only tracks it might be easier to have the lyrics up along it. Normally after experiencing them live, do the normal version first, then the live because they rearrange the live versions to spice them up often.
