It's very unfair to the children to make them grow up in poverty. Why so many kids with all that pre-existing debt? It's not like they didn't know the student loan and credit card debt was already there and yet they just kept on with the new cars and new house.
@LoveLife-oo9cz
@LoveLife-oo9cz 3 жыл бұрын
Because their parents can't afford to give them those things or even bother to educate them about debt. Kids want to feel "wow", they want to be recognized that they can have the same stuffs that their friends have. Talk about student loan, if their parents save for them in 529 fund each month then they wouldn't need to borrow student loan. Parents receive child tax credit every year, did they bother to put in college fund for the kids? "Nope, I'm too poor" excuse and lazy excuse over and over again. I do feel sorry for people with reasonable student loan.
@georgewagner7787
@georgewagner7787 2 жыл бұрын
Our parents couldn't give us much for college bc they started out very poor. But college didn't cost as much. We could work part time and pay half as we went. College is no longer a good idea for some people. There are tech and vocational careers that don't require it and lead to good jobs.

One of my favorite pieces of life wisdom has always been, "God helps those who help themselves." Meaning that YOU are an active participant in your own life! I get frustrated every time I hear someone say "God will take care of me". Only if you do your part! Responsibility goes along with free choice. It's a loser's way of absolving themselves of any blame. Failing to plan is planning to fail!

Their nightly entertainment should be binging Dave and episodes of Till Debt Do Us Part. He should pull 6 months worth of there statements and see where exactly the money goes. Then do a five year projection to his wife stating our current behaviors could see us close to 500k in debt in 5 years. As others have stated she needs to figure out how to bring in money. I wonder what she did to make money before they were married? She could do an in home daycare. Data entry or bookkeeping are good stay at home positions. Also she may have grown up broke and so in her household the mantra was "we struggle, but God always provides." I think with the right support group and discipline they could go far.

There is a huge market out there for learning common sense and he has got it. Dave will now always be financially rich not because he has a net worth of 200 or 300M or whatever it currently is. It is because he really learned from his mistakes, changed his behaviors and takes personal responsibility for his actions. He walks the talk and he is no phony.

Dave was so offended that he really could not take in any information Johnathan was providing. He makes about $100k gross. The problem is his wife feels entitled because she's popped out 4 babies. Having babies doesn't entitle you to use your motherhood or your babies to control your husband OR ruin your financial future. They need to sit down and have a serious talk about money. She can either agree to get on board or she can be treated like a child and get a monthly allowance from which she takes care of her duties. That requires cutting the credit cards and only allowing her access to back account with a slush fund (you assume the money will be spent irresponsibly). $178k mortgage $60k in vehicles $50k student loans $10k credit cards $10k personal loans. This really isn't that bad (and don't let anyone make you feel bad about having kids early!) With $1.5k/wk after taxes, you should be able to put $3k/m towards debt. Easily. 1) Sell both cars. Immediately. Once you clear the balances and have no vehicle debt, buy ONE $3k used car in cash. 2) Pay off the credit cars in FULL within 3 months. Confirm zero balance, and then close accounts. 3) Do the same for the personal loans. 4) If absolutely necessary, buy a second $3k vehicle in cash. You should be able to get this far before the end of next next year. 5) Find a way to increase your business income or get a side hustle. 6) Plan to live off $30k for one year then pay off student loans within 1yr. 7) Congrats! You're onto Baby Step 3 by 2023, debt free except your mortgage, and looking for a new home for your wife and 7 kids. Conversely, if you don't take control of your wife and your finances, eventually you will grow to resent her and find yourself tempted by the outer influences of the world. You'll eventually divorce and see ALL your hard work go towards child support for the next 15+ years. You'll be miserable for the rest of your life. Be willing to hurt (emotionally) your wife with the truth now in order to spare you both and your kids the agony of a broken family a few years down the road.

Wishful thinking, but I doubt they will try to go from 100k down to 30k with his wifes mentality. She feels entitled. And he has 4 kids. I made 30k in my 20’s and had no debt but it was enough for me myself and I. I canT imagine bringing 4 kids and a partner into the equation.

No way this guy is making $100k gross. He said he’s making $1500/wk at his own business-thats $72k/year and be prob meant gross not net.
