I’m also 43, female, have bad social anxiety, more so at work. Have tried everything. I keep fit and eat well but still have issues :( I wish I could just calm my nervous system down 😢 Had a turbulent childhood with an alcoholic father, lots of anger in the home, was always on edge as a child. Trying to hold down a good job that requires me to perform well is so exhausting. I’m tired.

Very similar story to me, i went no contact with parents 6 years ago, since then hitting toastmasters and pushing comfort zone , SA does get better if you really push! its hard, uncomfortable but is beatable!

@@BrendanIgoe-u1f thank you, I will try and get out there more. Unfortunately, my parents are elderly now (mid 80’s) and I moved back to the UK to look out for them. I can’t leave them as they need me, even though it’s hard for me to be around them sometimes as I think of the past. I don’t date as I’m emotionally drained and just have energy to get through the day. Things need to change.

@@TheSocialAnxietyCoach Hi Ed, I’ve tried therapy, Hypnotherapy, SSRI’s, Microdosing Mushrooms, Beta Blockers. I go Running and to the Gym regularly, good diet. , I’ve now moved to Decaf tea as I love tea , I rarely drink coffee as it affects my anxiety 3 fold. As you can see I’ve tried a lot of things :( I’m just messed up from my childhood. As well as my dad drinking my mum was very angry all the time and she would constantly scream at us and hit me a lot. It’s not the best base to begin with in life. Now my parents are elderly so I moved back to the UK to help them. My dad is too old to drink and my mum is bed bound and frail. I watched one of your videos and heard what you said about reframing the mind. I bought David Goggins’ first book, maybe this can help to sort out my mind 😅.

@@TheSocialAnxietyCoach Hi Ed, I’ve tried, therapy, Hypnotherapy, I was put on SSRI’s which didn’t work, Beta blockers, micro dosing. I do exercise and eat well, I go running and to the gym. Just had a very traumatic childhood sadly. I have been watching your videos and just bought Goggins’ first book to try and inspire me :) Do you do any talks/events for people to attend, like one day events? I’m in London, thank you

1) stop treating the symptoms. For example nausea,sweaty hands,shaky voice etc 2)get the fundamentals in place first .e.g exercise ,diet ,sleep. 3)not going crazy .anxiety is normal. 4) work with your body. Yoga ,stretching .gym, mma etc. 5)feel safe ,dont feel insecure. 6)identify your cognitive distortion, self talks and reframe them. 7) love for yourself. Respect yourself, compassion , gratitude etc 8)anxiety is temporary. Its gonna be okay. 9)identify your passion .Focus on your purpose, goals ,vision to diminish anxiety .
