I’m in tears at the end. You don’t what it’s like being told all your life you are too dark, you’re nose is too big, your hair is “bad hair”, etc, being passed up for your lighter friends, etc. Thank you Karamo for showing her (us) that she is (we are) beautiful.

I think her insecurities come from being Afro Latina- and there is skin racism very strongly in their community the darker latinas are treated less than the light skinned ones and just the fact that she has her pictures on social media pages that are very much lighter skinned than what she really is just shows that she has many insecurities from her upbringing- sending her blessings of healing ❤️‍🩹

It shouldn't be a problem in the first place, women shouldn't be questioning their beauty because of skin color. This girl is so obsessed with her man liking white light skin women and she doesn't even see how beautiful her own skin is. And many people prefer darker skin, and many white women do fake tan and stuff to appear prettier. But every skin is beautiful.

When you don't see yourself as enough, even when you got an entire community letting you know you're more than enough, it still remains a challenge. I don't know what Nancy has dealt with in her past but she has got to seek help. She is a beautiful lady and has got herself a man that loves her (evident by Garry staying supportive responses through the 8,000 text exchanges) for her. I pray she finds the inner-will to have self -love.

@itsKWhile
@itsKWhile 11 ай бұрын
Yeah.... SHE didn't apologize because 85-90% of women won't when they're wrong. They HATE it. They HATE being wrong in general but they HATE when the man is right. Not saying there aren't men who won't apologize when they're wrong because that's also wrong. But it's more common within women to "not be wrong" because "guys are immature and constantly make mistakes". Women aren't perfect either. Now I ain't taking a shot at you in fact I applaud you for you being disappointed in her for not apologizing. 👏👏👏👏

@@Armelleee why do you think women won't apologize to a guy when the guy is right and they are wrong? It's always "I'mma switch up the topic or find ways to weasel out of it". All that matters to most of you all is about being right and rubbing it in a guy's face after but when the tables turn and the shoe is on the other foot, most of you can't handle a rightful lecture from a man.

Heal & Love yourself BEFORE entering relationships. Broken people break good people. She is insecure in herself and the relationships. Overtime the constant need to validate someone gets overwhelming and the relationship won’t last. As a dark-skin woman, I get it. Colorism is real especially in the south. It’s not as prevalent as it was back in the day, but those deeply root wounds must be dug out and healed.

People need to normalize accepting the fact that some humans are more easy on the eye than others. And that’s normal. We can’t all be good looking, that’s unrealistic. That’s why some of us wear makeup, wigs, filters… to enhance our appearance so that we can appear as beautiful as those who naturally are. And that’s ok. Let’s teach our children too that being told you are average looking is not an insult. So that their entire sense of self worth is not pegged on their appearance. There must be other areas in which you shine in. And that’s ok too.

This episode is great, but it’s sad that after all these years, darker skin women & sometimes even men feel less than especially because they’re so beautiful!

Warning⚠️this is book/dissertation long yall! 🤭Lol I’m not diminishing what she went through because I’ve gone through the same thing and had the same thoughts and insecurities but the opposite for me growing up in Detroit which was predominately black, with all the beautiful shorter, curvaceous chocolate women. I was bullied and bashed like hell and teased because of the opposite reasons as my father is Native American from the Kiowa tribe of Oklahoma and my mother black. My parents are divorced and I grew up with my mother. I remember my dad came up to my school in his full regalia and I was so embarrassed by that. All the kids were laughing. They would always crack jokes on me. I was so ashamed of my heritage that I loved when my mother would come up to the school because she too was the epitome of beautiful black woman. I ain’t NEVER felt confident about being mixed with Native American and I think it’s because I didn’t grow up with my daddy. I get it. I was tall, super skinny, I loved reading and wore these thick glasses, did not wear updated clothes and tennis shoes (but my mama kept us clean) and I was flat chested and had weird hair. I also hated my skin color. I was lighter skinned back then and just wanted to fit in with my beautiful mothers perfect honey brown complexion or be chocolate. I hope she heals and stops thinking she needs to be light skinned to be accepted, validated and loved on. For me it was all the opposite and everyone I talk to thinks I’m bullshitting them but if they only knew how much I hated everything about myself from my height, facial features, high cheekbones, big nose just everything. I hope she gets to a place where she sees how absolutely gorgeous she is. I used to always say to my mom I wish I was pretty chocolate and she’d just tell me you are pretty. You know ish you tell someone you love just to hush them up. Until you believe it, you will always be insecure. I used to accuse my boyfriends of cheating on me with darker skinned beautiful shorter and more curvaceous women all the time too. My goodness I was so insecure and jealous. I didn’t fully love myself until I turned around 35-ish. I’m 40 now so that says a lot. My husband ain’t complaining either so at some point you need to love yourself and accept your differences. ❤

Wow, thanks for sharing. Growing up I hated my dark skin because I was teased by my peers. I have always felt ugly and unwanted because of it. Then I grew up and my lighter skinned friends told me of similar experiences as yours. It just goes to show, we all dragging around the weight of our past. No matter how much people tell us how beautiful we are, there is always that little kid on the inside who does not believe it. Now I understand why people need therapy. It takes a profession to help us unpack the demons of our past. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

I was born and raised in Detroit as well. And FINALLY, I have someone who is able to confirm that dark skin was celebrated in Detroit!!! And light skin was admonished. I didn't know that colorism was thing until I moved to the south. These ppl in the south are so triggered by light skin ppl. This is foreign to me as all my sisters are dark skin and I wanted to look like them and my best friend

When you're that insecure about your skin complexion is pretty hard for someone to tell you constantly that they're interested in you because you'll always feel that. And that's a psychological trauma that you have to have therapy for. This man needs to go about his business and find someone less nagging and insecure 🤪👎🏼🤬🤷🏼‍♀️😰👩🏻‍⚕️⚕️👩🏻‍⚕️🤪

I deal with someone who has a specific type and I find it realllllly hard to believe me and her would ever work. It’s fun for now but relationship wise I don’t think I’ll ever take it serious because I whole heartedly believe if you have a type STICK TO YOUR TYPE I dont have one so I’m open minded but anything else… NO
