This was a truly brilliant story. . Lolold and quarantined in a bedroom the only one of 7 children to have Chicken pox. I remember that a huge sticker had been affixed to our front door, warning everyone that the outbreak had come to our house. It was Easter time and I wasn't even allowed to have my Easter basket. The only thing to keep me company was the radio. The stories that were read were a lot like this and kept me occupied for a short time. I also remember having mittens pinned to my pajama sleeves so I couldn't scratch the itchy pustules and end up with a lot of scarring. Not the best time of my life but made it through with no scars and no Easter candy. But I'll never forget how that radio kept me busy when I was too fatigued to hold a book or work on a puzzle. Thank you for a wonderful return to the past, and at the same time of year. I'm now 71 yrs and when I had my children I was so grateful for the advances in medicine. My boys never suffered like I did, though they both had Chicken pox. There were medicines like calamine lotion , benadryl , and so many more and quarantine was no longer "common" practice for the prevention of contagious diseases. Things people today take for granted and complain at the least inconvenience, Back then we really cared about our fellow man and didn't want someone else sick because of our negligence. Thank you for a great story and keep up the amazing stories. God bless you and all your authors for the seemingly endless work you all do to entertain us.

Top marks to Captain S.P. Meek! An outstanding story! I really only had the slightest of ideas as to how those creatures had come into the world, and the answer given was definitely Not on the list! Whew! I haven’t heard one that good in a little while, as the Dr. Routinely deliverers top notch fiction from the best writers, both current and past. And thank you good Dr Creepen for such an excellent delivery of such a long ride! Had me hooked at 4 Billion in gold! It had to have gone somewhere, and I had many theories on that too. I suppose that one panned out as one would expect. I’m going to start my own glandular research right now so I can grow enormous shrimp and crab! Maybe not crab, could be too dangerous. Really enjoyed this, again, thanks!! 👏👏👏👏

I know it's not that important, but Pyrex glass is in Corning NY, not New Jersey. Only reason I know is because I live in the area. Great story otherwise!
