tbh the 'nog is maybe the only seasonal food worth looking forward to? like i mean turkey is by and large trash, but eggnog? it hits some specific pleasure center in the brain. but yeah stick with the store bought stuff and don't make it at home. i had a home made 'nog at a holiday party a few years ago and after a bit i felt DOWN. like chemically sad all of a sudden in the middle of this party and i swear it was the fresh nutmeg they shaved over it.
