I think if Laurence had lived in the 16th or 17th centuries he would have signed up for a voyage to the New World. With his curiosity and fair-mindedness, he would have been another John Josselyn; eager to learn, learn, learn! He would have written a fascinating book and would have been celebrated and feted. Then he'd take a wife among the residents and with Tarah, live happily with his 16 children! Laurence, PLEASE apply for dual citizenship! We can't afford to give you back to Jolly Ol'!!!🇬🇧🇺🇸

I know from experience how weird it is to move away from your childhood home and then go back. It's like you have two homes. What's really weird is when my brothers talk to me like I never left, like I known everything that has been going on since I left. I still feel connected to the general landscape, but subtle things have changed. Then when I get home, to my current home, I feel at home again.

I just discovered your channel tonight. I haven't watched all your videos but it seems that your British accent was slightly more pronounced upon your return. I think that's pretty cool. My mom was like that when she went to visit her family or during phone conversations.

"What about....?" Yes that's how I feel. I've been to London twice. We took a day trip to East Sussex on one of the trips and we took a day trip to York on the other trip. There is so much more I want to see though. I want to see the Yorkshire Dales, Robbinhood's Bay, the Cotswolds, Cornwall, Northumberland, Wales, and some of Scotland at the very least. I can only go a week at a time every couple of years. So much to see and so little time and money to see it as an American. I'd also like to see places outside of the UK. So far my only travel outside of the US has been those two trips to England and a one week trip to Dresden, Germany (with day trips to Berlin, Konigstein, and Prague). The travel struggle is real as Americans.

Weirdly, I can relate to the difference of self in different places. The analogy used was 'growing out of the box', first observed when I travelled cross country from the East Coast to the West Coast...never been the same since and realized we fundamentally change and the boxes we fit ourselves into....dont. So we grow outside the box and cant be stuffed back in. On a side note, I am currently questing for good british style fish n chips and few in Seattle understand what Im on about.

As a Brit and a woman walking around in my home town i do keep my money (notes)in my bra, and loose change in a small purse and mobile phone somewhere else in my clothing or inside a zip pocket out of sight when i am out and about. It is very rare i take a hand bag out with me in busy populated areas now these days, unless i am heading to work! It is true, there are a lot of pick pockets about in the major towns and cities.

NickyL there are ways of getting to ur money out discreetly without drawing attention to yourself when necessary. It’s good advice for any woman in this day and age when walking the streets not to keep majority of ur money or cards, phones in one place on ur body, and that’s the advice I was given by the police who said people need to stop walking around with the blinkers on and pay attention to your surroundings when more people are being attacked a robbed in broad daylight on the streets by organised gangs who go town to town and cities.
