After "RISE," I watched the reaction of "ADABANA." I have seen many reactors, but your NEMOPHILA reaction is the best among them! "ADABANA" is so destructive that it attracts many people who see it for the first time. I am very happy that you reacted so well to it. I look forward to seeing more NEMOPHILA reactions in the future.

Nemophila and Band-Maid are on top of my musical world atm. They unveiled this song during a concert that was livestreamed and my head almost exploded just when Saki started her lead after Mayu screams "Adabana" in the beginning! This bridge is nothing else than a work of art by itself! This is one of my top3 along with Hypnosis and Life. Now you are starting to understand why me and others are crossing the world (I'm from France) to see them and a lot of other bands live lol, I did it last month to see them at the legendary Nippon Budokan and had the honor to meet them after the show!

Hello, I am an old Japanese guy. As someone may have already informed you, Nemophila is the name of a plant with a small flower with five modest pale blue petals (It's the logomark of this band). The phonetic symbols is "nimɑ'fələ | -mɔ'f-." However, in Japan, this plant is pronounced "nemofìlə," and this band is usually called by that pronunciation in Japan. Therefore, the fans all tend to pronounce it the Japanese way.

8:30 Her Marshall JVM1H amp is one of a kind, "tattooed" by UK artist Emily Wood (now Dominguez). Saki liked it in 2014 because it has an "Empress Skeleton" tattoo on it... while her guitar (2021) is also... an "Empress": Killer KG-Fascinator Seven the "Empress" (Galaxy Black Petals finish).
They are awesome. Check out "Zen". You've now seen Lovebites, Band-Maid & Nemophila, now check out Hanabie. Try OTAKU Lovely Densetsu. I'm tellin you the Japanese all-female rock/metal bands are just doing it better.

I'm sure people have already filled you in on how Nemophila formed, and how it was originally supposed to be a one off project arranged by the singer Mayu, but the ladies bonded so well and had such a great time; they decided to make it permanent. I love Mayu's voice. They have a TON of music on YT including covers that range from Journey, AC/DC, pop songs, metal, and Mayu kills it each time. To me she can sound like a beautiful mix of Pat Benatar and Joan Jett when she puts grit in her vocals. The drummer Tamu Murata was one of the most sought after session drummers in Tokyo before joining Nemophila. Tamu also taught drums at a school and traveled Asia doing clinics as an Ambassador for her sponsor Tama drums. Tamu plays classical piano, guitar, bass, sax and has worked on projects that range from pop, prog, jazz, fusion and punk. She has her own popular YT channel that includes drum cam views of her in various sessions as well as her playing the other instruments. She list Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theatre), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), and Nao Kawakita (Maximum The Hormone) as her drumming idols, along with the band Opeth. Saki, the one playing the sparkly black guitar, has been in the Japanese metal/guitar scene for almost 15 years and was in a successful band, Mary's Blood, before joining Nemophila. Saki is seen as a big sister to a lot of the young female guitarist coming up in Japan and had formed a touring group called World Guitar Girl's Collection (WGGC) before COVID, which was a group of young Japanese female shredders that toured playing medleys of popular rock/metal songs. Here's a link to WGGC doing a performance in 2018 kzbin.info/www/bejne/gX7IgJ1olKefkMksi=lOWxgXtvm9cyomcw Saki plays a signature 'Killer' Brand 7 string guitar called The Empress. 'Killer' is a brand co-founded by Akira Takasaki of the Japanese metal band Loudness (Don't know if you remember Loudness, but Akira was called the EVH of Japan in the 80's) and is distributed by ESP. The name 'Killer' is a play on how the Japanese pronounce their "L" like a "R" and is a cheeky reference to Akira's name [Killer sounding like Kirra, as in (A)Kira]. As far as I know Saki is the only artist endorsed by 'Killer' guitars. The other guitarist, Hazuki, is an Ibanez endorsed technical wizard and she showcases her skills is in Ibanez videos for her signature products where she's playing Steve Vai style licks and instrumentals. Hazuki was actually nervous playing the overhand tapping in "Adabana" but gained confidence after receiving encouragement and pointers from Akira Takasaski during a joint Loudness/Nemophila show. Hazuki is also a very talented graphic artist. Finally there's Haraguchi-san the bassist. She was a former schoolmate of singer Mayu and is an exceptional songwriter and bassist. Anyway, that's a quick bio of the ladies, there's actually a lot more to learn, but I just wanted to point out just how talented and accomplished these ladies are at such a young age. Enjoy your Nemophila journey!

@@Amiekinz4ever NP You may also at one point think about going into the Show-Ya rabbit hole. Show-Ya is a Japanese all-female metal band that started around the mid 80's. Imo, if Show-Ya was a western band they'd be in the Rock & Roll HOF because there contribution to music in Japan is just as relevant as Led Zeppelin or Metallica are to the west. What's most significant is their contribution to female musicians from producing an annual festival in Tokyo, on and off for 30+ years, called NAON no YAON. Show-Ya started NAON for the purpose of promoting and encouraging women in music (that link to Saki's WGGC performance was played at NAON. Btw, all the girls in WGGC are shredders in their own respective band, don't know if I mentioned that before). The festival has established all-female bands and performers, and also holds a "Cute Girl" idol style competition for unknown/new acts to play as openers. NAON has helped establish a lot of female artist and bands, and the members of Nemophila are no exception. The drummer Tamu's former band Soramimi was a "Cute Girl" competition winner and singer Mayu once auditioned for "Cute Girl" with he former band Lipstick, unfortunately they lost, but that experience only made Mayu more focused to succeed. Guitarist Saki has been a background guitarist for the festival for years and so has drummer Tamu. As far as the band Show-Ya goes, singer Keiko Terada has been a mentor and God Mother figure to a lot of up and coming female musicians, and guitarist Miki "Sun-Go" Igarashi has been the same for guitarist; including Nemophila's Saki, who has a lot of younger Sun Go in her stage preference. Here's a link to one of their earlier popular songs called "Look At Me" performed at NAON no YAON in '21. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4bdgHp-qbp2Zq8si=usIH9AtBnGecCAK3 What's cool is there's a 1 minute intro that explains a little about Show-Ya before going into the full song performance. Sun-Go's guitar tone has been the same for 30+ years, its HUGE without being loud if that makes any sense. Anyway, Show-Ya has a lot of great songs too including a cover of X-Japan's "Kurenai" with guitarist Saki and Hazuki of Nemophila, and Nemophila also has a couple videos covering Show-Ya classics. "Look At Me" will gives you an introduction to one of the biggest influences in Japanese female metal.

You said in your notes that you're a Liberal; I hope you don't mind if this old Conservative agrees with you whole-heartedly. I pretty much gave up on popular music in the 90s. All that I really listened to after that was classical music. Then about 3-4 years ago, I discovered the rock/metal music coming out of Japan. I was instantly hooked. It was like being transported back 30 years, but yet with a modern twist. Bands, like Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie to name just a few, have revived my love of hard rock and metal. It always makes my day when I get up and find out that one of them has dropped a new video. You've got a deep rabbit hole to go down, so just sit back and enjoy the ride. Peace!

ADABANA is arguably their best song yet (although AMA-TE-RAS is their most infectious). And perhaps the only Metal song to feature lyrics by William Shakespeare. ADABANA means “flower.” Specifically a flower that bears no fruit, or so I am told, like the chrysanthemums that feature so prominently in the video. HAZUKI says certain elements in the video highlight the concept of something that has no value other than being beautiful: her overhand approach to two-handed tapping does not make the music sound better, and is not particularly difficult to do, but it looks cool; and MURATA TAMU, of course does not normally wear platform boots while playing double bass drums, but every reactor who watches this video comments on it. This is also their only video that uses slow motion, another element that serves only to look cool. All the “a”s in ADABANA have the same sound, “papa, mama, Adabana.” Translated lyrics are in the CC. The last line is “We are born to be beautiful. “ Now, please let me see your reaction to GACHARIC SPIN, REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY and THE COME UP CHAPTER (live at NAON no YAON 2023)- kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3apiptpjM6smKM
