Not all nuts on bottom of the van can be reached without removing muffler. I took mine to a welding shop. He used torch to remove top of the rail then melt the head of the bolt. ...so headless bolt would fall onto muffler then roll to the ground.

That's an amazing find. I wonder if the original owner had it weatherized for the harsh climates. I used to live upstate New York and almost any used car over 5 years old started showing signs of rust deterioration. The only way it won't rust is if you don't drive it during the winter. I was born and raised in Southern California and moved to New York in 1991. I had a 1977 Ford Van that I had purchased in 1981. The van was originally sold in Nevada. I was the second owner and I bought it with not a pin hole of rust on it. When I moved to the east coast I drove the van all over New York, Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania for my business. First winter I spent there, the van started showing signs of deterioration. I should have sprayed some tar under the floor boards and frame. I ignored it and then the bottom of the doors started to bubble. The salt they use on the road is so harsh on those older vans and trucks. Eventually it developed cancer holes in the usual areas. It was such a nice van and wish I paid better attention to weatherizing it before the damage started. Anyway, to see no signs of deterioration on a vehicle that age, like the van you bought is unbelievable.

I'm a contractor and have had many express vans. The 3/4 tons with 6.0 only get parked for 2 reasons- rust and rusted brake lines, trans issues. By then they usually have between 225 to 300k and have paid for themselves and then some. Great vans.

The torque converters on those are constantly locking up and unlocking. It’s actually a problem with those and typically you want to turn off the low speed torque converter lock so it doesn’t tear up the torque converter and run the transmission.

I have a 6.2 in my Yukon. If the coolant routing is like mine, there is a Y fitting right out of the pump routing to the reservoir and the firewall. Doorman makes an upgrade that replaces hoses molded to a plastic Y to clamped hoses connected to an aluminum Y. It's great and replaces a known weak spot in the coolant system. I also have a similar issue with the ABS/Stabilitrack when they get wet. When I need them the most, one of the ABS sensors takes a vaycay. One other thing..I think the trailer button prevents TC lockup.

I used to drive a 2012 Express 1500 work van and it had the 4.8 with what I believe was the same 6L90 transmission and I never had any issues with it. It had 125,000 miles on it and it ran like a dream. The 4.8 had plenty of power and that van was always completely loaded down with multiple different sized ladders, a 12' metal brake, wood horses, tools, and two guys. It was fairly quick too. It surprised me on more than a few occasions.
