I know I’m late by a year, and you probably figured this out by now, but the reason why him, and many other people were so excited when they saw the name drop, was because they thought Metroid Dread was, (pun intended on purpose), Metroid Dead. They thought it would only exist in name, and name only. they thought it would never come to fruition. Because it was supposed to come out a long time ago, but it never did. So yeah… Of course a lot of people were going to freak out when they saw the Dred moniker.

If you wanna continue the story arch to be ready for Dread, play Metroid Fusion since it was first, the sequel to Super Metroid, and Dread now being the sequel to Fusion :)

The Metroid 2 remake on the 3DS (Samus Returns) is stellar, and from the looks of it the gameplay is fairly similar. I highly recommend it

Metroid zero mission (GBA) is a remake for the first one (you can get it on the wii u or download it illegally, i do not recommend playing the NES version), metroid return of samus is the second one (Gameboy) and has a remake on 3DS, Super metroid (SNES) is the third one and it is on every console on the eshop, the fourth game is Metroid Fusion which is a GBAdvanced game (you can get it on wii u or you can download it as a rom illegally), EXTREMELY GOOD games btw, also Metroid Dread was a canceled project for many years so no wonder arlo and every metroid fan is losing their collective minds

One of the things I really love in Metroid games is there cinematic storytelling. When this strange new robot appears, Samus fires two shots to show that her normal beam does nothing to it and then she fired a missile right in his face and that also did nothing. That instantly informs you that this is an enemy that Samus has no chance of taking on right now. So Your only option is to run. And that’s not even getting into the brutal way it just ends you.

Just in Lou of the fact that it’s a clone of you was enough to tell you this is a massive threat. And yet they managed to relay that same sense of danger in just a few test shots.

I've played Fusion a few times, and while the SA-X aren't something you can beat, it didn't give me the same sense of "Oh shi-" as when I get the indication that an EMMI is on the hunt for me.
