Hello, Levy. I started playing chess 9 months ago; I didn’t even know how the pieces moved. I started learning from you, absorbing basic openings and chess principles, and gradually improved my rating. I didn't expect to go far, initially believing 500 Elo was my limit. However, you proved me wrong. Over the past 9 months, I played more than 2000 games and solved countless puzzles. I reached 800 Elo, then ordered your book and eagerly completed it in 2 weeks. Now, I'm a 1400 Elo player and about to play my first OTB tournament. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you, Levy. ♥️♥️

I have noticed that a lot of people ask, "Why is this brilliant?" not for information, but as a challenge to others. Knowing that this was supposed to be a spectacularly bad game, I did pretty well at predicting many of the moves. My tip for beginners in an endgame where your opponent just has a knight (and maybe some pawns): Try to keep your king on the opposite color from the knight. If you do that, the knight cannot deliver a check on the next move. If you have a major piece (like the queen here), also have it on the opposite color, as the knight has no immediate attack. Once the knight moves, it will now be on the same color as the king & queen, so move one of them to the opposite color right away, as it guarantees against a fork. You have to pay attention to that on every move, though.

Same here. I am 530 atm, down from 560 after multiple losses in a row. My opponents seem to pull off tactics that Levy lands into 800 to 1300 range, based on guess the ELO series. Everyone seems to have strong opening game, perfectly responding to tactics, no blunders in middle game, and end games being decided by small pawns or knight bishop advantages.

I went to a rapid chess tournament this weekend where, after two easy wins, I collapsed, I touched the wrong piece, I got very anxious and I forgot all my opening repertoire. First, playing online kills my ability to play OTB - and I have been playing OTB since 1986. Second, playing fast games makes me even more nervous, especially when I don't have advantage in the opening. So, I played literally like a baby, giving away my rook, my queen. And I lost a lot of Élö points. Things like that happen, and do not correlate with one's theoretical knowledge.

21:00 Actually, this is way too advanced for a 500... White foresaw the threat on the f2 square, with both the knight on e4 and rook on c2 attacking it, and to prevent getting checked on the next move, he moved his king away 😂 Usually what low ELO players do is think about how they can attack the opponent, here something reverse happens... White prevents the threat of the opponent, but doesn't think that he can attack on his own instead
