I'M DONE - Quitting My YouTube Channel After 14 Years?

I have felt for a while that I am 'seeking' something (it's probably why the candle business was born) but in the meantime, I have kept this channel alive longer than I should have. Whether I do delete it all and start over, I'm still not sure. I reached my 100k which was a huge achievement and I'll always have that but it's all vanity metrics and it doesn't really mean anything. My core audience that have been with me for the long term, I know we will keep our community and that's really all I'm bothered about. I think I'm craving the early days of KZbin and the content for contents sake has gotten stale. I've never enjoyed the salesy affiliate link nature of the beauty community and at the few events I attended, I never felt I belonged. I think I fell in to it without much consideration and it's time to make a break. I'm not a beauty blogger anymore. I'm not sure what I am but if that was why you were here.. maybe I will see you elsewhere but no hard feelings if not!

Hey M! Just some consideration for you from my perspective. A lot of us have grown with you. I for one don’t wear make up much anymore and nor am I interested in it. Like most things that come with age I just don’t care 😂 but one thing I have always loved from you and always will is the vlogs. I would really, really miss you if you were gone. Honestly, I think we have all moved on. As much as I love a good makeup haul I no longer watch them wall to wall. I became aware of how wasteful it all is to keep up with the latest fad. Other things take priority as we get older - other responsibilities & interests (for me it’s the garden & family). All for lifestyle, travel, health, beauty. I’m subscribed to all of your channels, though I don’t comment that often (we did just talk another Chad Kroeger and plastic surgery on IG though 😂) For me, my consumption is really personality driven. If I like the person, I’ll watch almost anything they put up. I’d love to see more of the things that align with where you are in life right now. Thats way more interesting than endless makeup consumption. Not to say I don’t look for those videos at times, but it’s less often and it feels a bit like a young persons game, if that makes sense? At 20, there’s something more exciting about having alllll the stuff than there is at 40. I will say though, don’t delete the channel. My own watching preferences have changed a huge amount, I would never sit and watch a full makeup review now, in the past I consumed this content and made many purchases because of reviews. My jumbled thoughts while I have 2 mins without the baby!! As some others have said, lots of people have grown with you and can relate. I’ve only followed for a couple of years but am a similar age, and used to be obsessed with makeup. I now just enjoy it when I get the chance, but day to day I wear light makeup and always the same. Makeup trends have changed and 10 years ago, full makeup was the trend but now it’s about skin and less makeup. In the 2-3 years I’ve followed, I’ve never had the expectation that this is a ‘makeup channel’. I like that you’re just normal and relatable and I like your chats. I’m much bigger than you but still watch your fashion related videos. I love the vlogs. If you’re buying new makeup occasionally, show us and review it that’s great. But don’t go buying things you don’t want! Maybe you could do a poll or something to see what types of videos your audience enjoy. I have followed other KZbinrs for years (eg Anna edit) and loved all their makeup content but now they’ve gone more fashion and lifestyle, I find they aren’t relatable. I enjoy your videos and will continue to watch. I feel like we’re mates and I like that! ❤️

I think and I can’t speak for everyone, but for myself, this video made me realize more about how I spend my time and what time I give to things that I don’t have passion for anymore. As we age we do need to change because that’s just what life is about, you realize that was important isn’t really that important anymore or it shifted. I quit my job of seven years because I just needed a change. I wasn’t happy there anymore. I wasn’t happy with myself anymore. I have realized that I spent the first 48 years of my life doing things that weren’t necessarily for me. I enjoyed raising my children and I’ve enjoyed being married to my husband, but I feel like in this stage in my life I don’t know who I am. So I’ve decided that I’m gonna focus on me. My kids are grown. My marriage is good, and I’m gonna be the best version of myself for myself going forward. Because if I stay in this spot and continue to live the life that I’m living, I will truly never be the best version of myself so I can’t give to anybody else until I can give to me. I commend you for evolving and changing and I look so forward to the content that you are going to create this next phase of your life. I have watched your videos for so long back to the crazy hair colors and Ella being little you didn’t even have Milo all the way to now and I have enjoyed every phase of that including the purchase of your book so shine bright live the best damn life you can live, I will still watch. I’m going nowhere just finding myself along the way so thank you for this video and normalizing change yourself.

I started watching KZbin when I was 24 and got cancer for the first time. Part of my treatment gave me really bad acne and I was so self conscious about it that I looked for videos on helping to hide it. That’s how I found your channel. I’m now 41 and give zero shits about makeup tips but I’ve stuck with the creators I enjoy watching whatever they post. Feels like we have grown up all together and our interests have changed too. Also our financial situation is different so budget beauty also has less attraction than it used to have. I used to love makeup videos. It's how I learned to do a lot of different looks. But similarly, I rarely do loads of eyeshadow and sculpting anymore. Just do a little bit to freshen up now and then. I've not been watching a lot of makeup videos for a long time because of it I also need to condense my small collection. Just keep a few things for if I ever dress up or want to do something bold 😄

I think a lot of us who have followed you for a long time aren’t so much looking for the same things that this channel used to be about either. New make up/full on make up isn’t as exciting to me as it used to be either. I started watching you as Miss budget Beauty and your make-up storage organisation but that’s not why I watch you now we’ve grown with you as an audience and I’m interested in you and your life and whatever that maybe I am more interested in what make up you are finding And wearing now then the top 10 cheapest for example I don’t watch for make-up videos specifically.

Also i watch someone who does decluttering videos and she tries to get rid of 10 iteks from each place she sorts out so the bathroom cupboard under the stair kitchen etc x

Why have 2 channels? That doubles the pressure - just do whatever videos you want to do and just put it on one channel?? Keep the other one open if you want to, don’t if you don’t. For the record I have almost zero interest in makeup and would never expect anyone to buy something on my request for a review - if they want to try anything, they can buy it!! So, in short, you do you, but maybe just do it on one channel and halve the ‘need’ for content 🤷🏻‍♀️

This You Tube channel is your creation. As its creator you have every right to review and take stock of its content. If you fancy a change to keep it fresh for you, so be it. Let's face it as we get older we become interested in different things and surely your channel should reflect that. I started watching you because of the make up but now I actually enjoy your vlogs and other content more. I'm the same age as you and I think there's a point where it's like you stop running at a million miles an hour to keep up with everyone else. Maybe you're at that point too? Even if you do lose viewers, if you're doing what you enjoy, you'll gain new viewers. People enjoy watching passionate people, I don't think the content really matters
