Well Garrett, as an avid PlayStation gamer since 2001 when I got the PS2, I can firmly state that your points from this video make it increasingly clear Sony increasingly wants full control over consumers' rights to games for their platform. The PS2 will always be the greatest PlayStation console of all time because all you have to do to play your games on it is to connect your PS2 console to a power source and a video output, turn the PS2 on, insert the disk for the game you wish to play, and begin playing once you have a controller hooked up to it. PS2 games may be decades old by now but they will always remain accessible and fun for years to come because they don't require an internet connection, a PSN login (something that didn't exist in the PS2 era), or downloads of licenses that take up tens to hundreds of gigabytes of software.

Anyone paying attention knows exactly why they want you signed into your account when playing games. Analytics and data. Your information is invaluable for marketing and companies will pay a fortune for that data. Here's another reason that I almost never hear anyone talk about. China is the gaming industry's largest market. China has very strict rules and regulations around gaming and consoles there only allow players X amount of time per day to play games. The way they track this information is through account logins. So instead of Sony or Microsoft just adding login requirements for one region and not the other they just make it mandatory for all regions. This goes for video game studios as well. Not just the hardware makers (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, etc). All I'll say is boycott all you like but this is the direction of gaming in the 21st century and unfortunately you'll just have to walk away from modern gaming altogether if this is your stance you're going to take. PC isn't a refuge. It's a battle on a losing front because the issue you take with Sony will eventually find its way to PC as well.

@KJW1996 Yes, exactly as they are the ones providing access to it and it was made by them so it does in fact belong to them even if you buy it, The requirements and terms of conditions are a legal binding contract. The company|Studio|Group|Corporation|Organization are the ones allowing players to enjoy their games. It is a product|service that they provide|offer but you have to agree to many permissions to be allowed to gain access to their things.

Look at all the backwards compatible games you can play on Xbox for free if you already own the disc or you can buy it digitally if you don't. Contrast that with Sony, you have to have a stupid subscription and pay to stream the game which runs like shit in most cases. Microsoft is leaps and bounds better than Sony in terms of being consumer friendly, and Sony will just continue to get worse until people start waking up and avoiding their products.

I know this isn't quite the same, but the same concept applies to the merging of Funimation and CrunchyRoll... Anything you might have had access to on Funimation's site/service that wasn't brought over to CR is gone forever if you want to stream it legally. Oh and guess who's responsible for that? not the same at all, its a lot more then that, its due to region and license issues that went way beyond just a simple up and move to a new platform, people just dont understand how complicated licensing is down to clauses not being able to play it in different regions, different platforms etc, unfortunately we got a taste of why digital only / streaming platforms is bad people been saying this FOR years why you shouldn't buy movies , books etc etc from amazon, itunes etc most of that shit is not moveable or off loadable, its essentially all leased licenses.

For me personally, I quit buying PlayStations after the PlayStation 3, it felt like they lost their roots right after the PlayStation 2, and the PlayStation 1 and 2 were the best memories of my life, and still is today!

This is is the reason why I have started to saving up money to get a pc rig ,the exclusives coming to pc. I have already sold my ps5 (The only reasons why I still currently have my Xbox series x is: first , I have a larger anime library tied to my Microsoft account. Secondly , GTA 6. The PS5 and PSVR2 have been absolute dissappointments. Not because the product itself is bad, but because Sony just refuses to make games for them. Despite them having experienced first hand with the Vita that not supporting your console with games causes them to fail, they do a fine job of repeating it. I don't think you solution to the discovery delistinh is a reasonable option. If every time a product got delisted sony offered a refund that wouldn't be sustainable. The download indefinitely thing I'm 50/50 on I would be in favor of this, but that would fall to the individual rights holders and not a sony decision.

Sony can't away with forcing logins in the same way that microsoft does. Microsoft gets away with it because in most cases, you are going to have a microsoft account to even have windows in the first place, unless you have a prebuilt pc or laptop, which is why I say in most cases. But Sony can't get away with forcing logins and what not because, 1, you need to create a completely new account, and have it linked to your steam or epic, which doesn't make sense, since you bought the game on steam or epic, and ots not even possible to play the game without signing in. So why couldn't have sony just made their own launcher and released their own games there, instead of being lazy and forcing people to make more accounts so they can play your game? It's a scummy way to port your games over to PC and screws over more gamers, than anything else. EA and Ubisoft do the same thing, but they at least have their own launchers, where you make an account and buy their games, and hell, you can link your accounts to one another, so they all work together and are seamless, but the option is there at the very least. 2, even if you have bought a game PSN, you don't access to it if its not been ported. PSN now has cloud gaming with PS+ premium, but its terrible because very few countries have access to cloud gaming on PC, so if you have PS+ Deluxe, and not premium, sorry, no way to enjoy the games you have bought or anything like that. Sony is going about their business practices in the wrong way, because you can play physical games on both ps4 and ps5 without a PSN account, but for pc, you have to have one? That doesn't make any sense

Ps5 is one of my fsvorite consoles because it just works, works well, and the psn is one of the best parts. "Games are too expensive nice?" Play a roulette of free games old and new. "Graphics?" Play some of the most beautiful this generation has to offer. The games youve been mentioning, I can only guess are ones that were thrown to controversy. And ya know what... steam accoubt. Microsoft account. Twitter, facebook, etc. Pointless to just turn your nose up to a company because of that. And if you want to scream "region locks!" Due to psn not being available, I'd like to scream back, "gaming is a leisure, not a necessity." The world isnt up to the level of heing able to buy in game props, and then youtube your disgressions on x or y. Some places are better fit over others and thats just the way it is. In all honesty theres not a major loss of profits and virtue signaling that sort of thing is just plain stupid. So at this point its down with nintendo, down with sony, windows is good because....? @@charlescortes873 so… to your Steam login point. I’m already logged into Steam. The launcher that I played HellDivers 2 through. I was able to play online. Friends in Puerto Rico could buy it too! Play it through stream, and all was fine. So why, three months after the game came out, is it ok to force another login on top of Steam and keep people from buying games in specific regions even though the game was playable and purchasable with no issues in those regions beforehand? I take issue with poor consumer care practices, inconsistent rules, and nonsensical restrictions on something that functioned better before Sony stepped in.

@GarrettCrespo The issue I have is that for some reason, Sony gets 10x more hate than than other companies doing the same things. Also, bringing up the ps2 doesn't count. Everyone had a ps2, back when most of us were all part of the same ecosystem and judge games based on thier quality instead of the platform it's on. The 7th generation is when the fanbase split up and started the toxic console wars. Some stayed, and some never looked back. If your only experience with Playstation is with the ps2, then you're still not a true fan in my eyes.
