I'm Done With Triton Method | Time To Go Back To 2 Part Dosing

In this video i will go over my reasons for stopping Triton method and my transition back to 2 part dosing. I have been using Triton Method on this 30 gallon chaeto reactor test build for going on five months but now im forced to stop due to not being able to get anymore of the product. I have done everything i could do to prolong this but unfortunately the tank needs a change before it crashes.

FishOfHex Aquatics Thanks for the review. I’ve watched a few other videos with having the same issues with running out of triton supply. One thing I don’t understand is why didn’t you just supplement with other brand elements until you could get your hands on Tritons products. I just don’t get it. Did you really just sit around without helping your tank and waited for triton product? Lol

The problem with this hobby is there's a lot of irrelevant/pointless shit out there to buy (my opinion thats all) I'm just going to stick with the basics water changes, dosing, gear and maintenance.. Old Skool style mate! Not really a hobby for me it's more of the fact that I love having nature in my home.. Even though I'm in Australia the Great Barrier Reef is in another state. I have a miniature one at home. Only have a 100 Litre, I thinks 25 Gallons yeah?! It's the most I can afford to run anyway... Love all your videos man. Learned a lot :) And knowledge & QT tanks are vital in this 'hobby'..

Learned that 24 hour dosing from you and it sure makes a difference. My ph stays high enough with 24 doses that I no longer need to a CO2 reactor. Thanks!

I lost 95% of my sps over the last 3-4 weeks due to switching back to 2 part. Triton Core 7 worked great but the fact that the company cannot keep up with demand is a joke. I truly hope Triton gets bought out. But I'm done with sps and was so close to quitting the hobby.

It’s not the demand. They globally lost all of there inventory. That’s a huge loss for them as a company. It’s the kind of loss that could put and company out of business. They were depending on sales to keep running the company. Now there probably using borrowed funds just to produce more product.

Do you have any tips or tricks on how to troubleshoot the dosing during alk fluctuations? I hope you can get your parameters on point, and that tank looks killer with that eel in it!

I feel your pain brother. I ran out of triton solution and had to switch to the Red Sea solutions bc I had some in the basement and watched several of my corals die and all my sps that is still alive it’s not happy.

I've got a similar set up to your tank. 35g cube with a 15g sump and chaeto reactor. When the tank requires dosing I'll be going with the red sea a b and c liquid elements.

Over 10 years sps dominated mixed reef on a healthy tank....heavy flow, large refigum,monthly large water change with Kalk top off and I never measure. These new methods are cool but not for me.

Do you mix Alk with warmed RO/DI water? if I did what you just did mixing alk I would have had a soild chunk or chunks of soda ash in my container?

U could try aquaforest three part, basically the same, not as strong as regular 2 part, so u have to dose 2x the amount!

Seems ridiculous that they are unable to supply demand. I've seen a lot of good feedback on the triton method but like it is it only works if you can use it consistently (that being the major part of it) and obviously if you can't get hold of it it takes away the "method" that it is based on. I'm looking forward to you going back to 2 part as I'm sure it will inspire more people to use this method. Me included

I chose balling method by aquaforest, because there is official formula how to mix the solution from solid form components - way easier to ship and stock in advance

The issues that they as a company are having are huge. First they globally lost all of there inventory. So as a business that was income they were surviving on which went from income to a total loss. On top of that they now have to come out of pocket to produce a new supply and ship it. I hope they recover there product is an outstanding product. I run triton my self and have months of a supply on hand.

I wonder if it's supply not meeting demand or just poor distribution. In Canada it's even worse. I don't think anyone is even selling triton products let alone stocking, at least none of my usual shops seem to carry the elements. While I am intrigued a bit by the triton method I don't mind doing water changes but even more so I'd never want to rely on something so essential being so hard to get. If you were long term dialed in and couldn't get more it would be just as bad as not being able to get salt.

Average Reef same here in Australia. I get mine delivered to me from family in the UK. It’s insane. From the reviews it’s amazing and works like a boss. So why they ateby trying even to get the crappy containers etc into Australia is mind blowing.

Checkout my system, Its A year old 130g i call it "The most natural reef" No Skimmer, No water change, No Sump, No Po4 Remover (no gfo is in experimental stage). the only filteration is an under size chaeto reactor, purigen, carbon and filter floss only for surface skimming.

That sucks...Well it look like they are only one company making the product. I work in the hospital logistics department as a inventory manager. This type of problem happens more often then you know. People need to plan/company's really need to plan for these events. Companies need to plan for unforeseen events that happen. Even when dealing with patients that need things to live. A good example when the hurricanes hit Puerto Rico, Baxter which make the Normal Saline (saltwater) IV bags and other solutions, after it hit it killed the production. They are still recovering from that. Hospitals were running our of solutions. Because other manufactures could not keep up with demand. Just like with us in this hobby. Everyone is rushing to the Triton Method so demand is up and we are now seeing the problem.It could come from high demand, shipping issues, and other things. Also we have 4 different main and other core solutions to deal with here. Don't forget BRS have systems that need Triton solutions too. Don't you think they would want to keep items for in house testing and staff use, before having paying customers have it.

I have been looking to add something to my system while still using my current very large supply of BRS 2 part. I decided on AF Components Strong. I added each of the 50ml bottles to my 2 part jugs as they instructed. Though it’s intended to be used with AF product and it mixed 1/2 as strong as BRS 2 part, I just doubled the amount added to mine. So far I can tell a good difference in growth and color. Not doing water change, just carbon, skimmer, and chaeto.

Thank You but the system is stable on 2 part usually when a video comes out its on a delay, just takes a while to make them. Im going to stick with 2 part and calcium reactors bc they have yet to fail me.

Feel free to bash away at BRS, no sense in sugar coating their inadequacies, I myself am completely pissed at them, I ordered some more 2 part which takes 7 to 10 days free postage, well after 12 days of waiting I had to query where's my order as my 2 part is about to run out, I got an instant reply that the fault is on their end and that they are out of stock. SERIOUSLY, why didn't they notify me of that when I ordered it so I can make other arrangements BEFORE I run out. You'd think BRS would understand the importance of stability in a reef tank and ensure there's no breakdown in communication if there's an issue with an order so they don't cause a customer's tank to crash. They gave me the option to wait about a week when they get more stock or cancel my order, that would make at least 2 weeks before I get it, stuff that, my coral will be dead by then so I canceled and got a refund. Then to add insult to injury a week later they send me an email asking me to review the very same product that they failed to deliver to me. My jaw dropped to the floor in utter disbelief, I refuse to allow the fate of my reef tank rest in the hands of BRS when their incompetence could destroy it.

The idea behind the triton method is great but the execution is shite. Like you said in the states it doesn’t exist and other products like zeovit, aquaforest, ZeoLight, etc are better anyways and available

Like you, I was totally out of Triton Core Elements, but I talked to the Triton rep and he got me a temporary supply, and then just yesterday I got two orders of the core elements from Unique Corals. The rep said they have a huge container of product headed to the states. It’s probably already here and he noted that the short supply won’t happen again. As far as dosing containers, the milk cartons are not great. I just pour the contents into “real” dosing containers.

Didn't you realize you were being scammed by just looking at the price? It's also bulky and ugly AF! I never buy from BRS. How dare they charge American's inflated prices!
