Great Video. As someone who comes at this hobby with a background in horticulture, I always gravitate towards this product. On a fun side note: Very few marine Algae are actually plants. Most are Protists. They are so similar in their photosynthetic functions and nutrient uptake, because plants evolved from filamentous green algae as it moved onto marginal areas and then land. Only a few plants returned to the water through evolution, and most of those are found in shallow fresh water. The few marine plants are generally found as sea grasses along with a few costal species like mangrove

One last thing, if moving in to Triton from another dosing system, start slow... I didn't, and my zoas, euphemia and candy canes etc just popped one after each other and died right in front of me in days :( Lost almost everything except the anemones, fish and GSP coral. Costly mistake to learn from - esp if you're not rich (like me!) :-p

How can you say it’s because of switching your method to fast? I switched from fauna marin to triton in literally a day and nothing happened to my acros or any other coral

What if you still want to use the triton method but your refugium is only like 3 gallons? and i have a 120 gallon tank including the sump

I use All for reef it cuts out the need to buy bottles of different doses. And reduces the amount of auto doses heads you use to just 1.

Thanks for the great vid. I have been on the fence about starting a reefer xxl 750 with the full triton method because its refugium wasnt large enough. Now if I understand point 5 right adding say a kessil a360x refugium light on it should make up for the refugium not making the 10% guideline right?

Bulk Edition FTW! just mix 4x4L by yourself using RODI water and save a lot of $$ oh and ... my triton in a year only asked me to change water once which I ignored as i slightly overdosed molybdenum but I run carbon constantly so my icp test tend to show I'm low on metals.

So far so good! Got some acropora that are about mediocre, but what can I expect from an 8 month old system. Setosa, Montis, Emerald Cyphastria, Pavona and Anacropora are doing really well. Other than a self inflicted problem (I accidentally dosed too much KH) and also didn’t realise my PO4 went too high at one point I’d say it’s been a great success. I have had to do a few water changes and I’ve also done 5 tests so far and I’ve followed the instructions regarding recommendations for elements that have been depleted so I’ve spent some money on buyin supplements (Strontium, Calcium, Iodine, Molybdenum and Vanadium) but these should last a long time as I only needed to add small amounts. Just submitted my 5th ICP and this time submitted an NDOCS test as well. Followed your guidance and it’s working. Negative Scaped tank with dry rock bare bottom tank. It’s starting to look stunning. Had not Dino’s or any serious problems. Thanks guys! 🐠

I’m also testing how accurate my Salifert and Hanna test kits are as accurate as the ICPs. I agree about not preaching to other reefers saying these are 100% accurate and I am always open minded and objective about these things, however I think that you may be incorrect about the things say calcium being up to 40ppm inaccurate between 380-420-480. Every time recently I’ve submitted an ICP I’ve done a full test with the Hanna and Salifert kits and so far they’ve been pretty accurate. I’m still working on finding a more definitive conclusion from this, but it does seem that the ICP test so far is next level accuracy and compares with my home test kits, I’m finding I get a result, make the change and both ICP and home kits show the exact result. Seems to do what it says in the tin. I’ve also found that Triton have sent me very helpful advice and customer support has been great.

if I want to do triton which do I us went running a algea reactor? triton method our oyter method?

If you have a reactor that is at least 10% of your display volume, use the Triton method. If it's significantly smaller, use the other method.
