If it's the lack of power on the 4runner that's keeping you back, put the pedal commander in it. I installed one in my 2016 4runner, and it makes a big difference. The 4runnner has never been a speed demon or a prius, but she always excels at everything else. I love my 4runnner and couldn't see myself in anything else except maybe the new land cruiser. Hey Ben if your grenadier is a harsh ride play around with your tire pressure is experiment with that it will help the ride also if you can determine the proper length of your shocks collapsed and extended you can install an adjustable shock for example fox 3.0 shocks would make that vehicle so comfortable to drive also TeraFlex falcon has the 3.5 automatic adjustable shocks which would work similar to the bronco raptor but of course lesser tech that would be another option to increase some comfort for you. You’re very fortunate to have a grenadier dealership in your area I think that’s the biggest problem with the grenadier is if you buy one it could be 1000 miles from a dealership I’m in Northern California and the closest dealer would be about 500 miles away which is just too far hopefully they can get more dealerships.

I think your comment, "When it was working, it was great," pretty accurately sums up the entire Land Rover brand at the moment. If you never plan to own one outside of warranty and you're willing to put up with it constantly having to go into the shop for repairs, then fair enough. You do you. The new Defenders look nice and ride nice, so it's easy to forget they're the least reliable vehicle on plant earth. But if the dealer takes good care of you and you're happy, then that's all that matters. I don't blame you for wanting to ditch Toyota. The whole "Toyota reliability" thing has been a cult myth for quite a while. My parents have been Toyota fans since the '80s. Literally won't drive anything else. This is despite several models over the decades consistently failing out from under them, and the dealerships have treated them like something stuck on the bottom of their shoe. I haven't owned one, but I understand the outgoing Infiniti QX80 is a pretty good, reliable, comfortable vehicle that would suit your wife's needs well. And most of them are pretty heavily marked down at the moment, to make way for the new, more expensive model. Just a thought. Style matters, too, so maybe it's not your (or her) thing. I'd also say the current Mercedes GLS would be a good option. They appear to have better reliability than the outgoing version (2019, I think), and certainly better than Land Rover. And it's still a classy ride. There's so much choice out there nowadays, it would be easy to get lost in it all. Hope you find something that makes you both happy, in the end.

What about a palisade or Telluride? The Palisade Calligraphy is really nice for what it is. I've got a 17 Sonata, and have had a few issues but all covered under the warranty without hassle. You can get a Hyundai extended warranty 10yr/125k mile for like $1600 and it covers basically everything. I've got that warranty on my Sonata and they have covered every issue it's had. All issues have been minor. People always crap on Hyundai/Kia reliability, but I've always had good experiences. I don't think anyone builds a 25 year vehicle anymore sadly. If you get 10 years you're lucky. Nothing is built like it used to be. I keep vehicles for 8 to 10 years and 100,000-120,000 or so and then trade them off.

You're really limited in choices because of your preference for boxy off-road capable vehicles with some luxuries. Plus you live at a high altitude which likely means forced induction or a V8 because you want road performance. The former is going to be more complicated and less reliable. Whatever you decide I'd suggest passing on a sunroof and passing on modifications to the suspension and big wheels and tires. Keeping it stock and holding down speeds off-road in addition to regular maintenance are probably the most important things you can do to minimize problems.

@@BenHardyCarsyou’re selling the 392 and LC or just the 392? The Ineos is really cool but def get something from a mainstream company (that’s family friendly) for the other car

That’s an amazing choice, I was gonna suggest it too, but it would probably be too big for off-roading, it won’t have the driving dynamics of the Defender either (as expected tbf)

I think this guy has money problem lol. Not the lack of, but too much extra to need to stick with something like most of us. I’m sticking with my 2011 Land Cruiser because it’s had zero issues. Absolutely zero problems. Sorry to hear of your struggles. I’d recommend going older instead of newer. My 2000 911 was also extremely reliable, more maintenance items sure, but still never left me stranded.

Why get a 4Runner Pro? Has a sunroof, bad, impeccable reliability, good. Get a TRD Off Road trim. Your worried about your families safety, why do you want them driving in a fast vehicle?

It's SAD when you spend a boat load of $$$$$ for something that is plagued with issues and to make it worse NOT covered under warranty! All i can say is my 2023 RAM 1500 Classic Warlock is 100% flawless, i didn't buy it to be a drag racer and compared to my 2023 Tuscon which would slowly make it up a hill from a start the 3.6 is fine, i was thinking of a Frontier but i don't want to take a 10-12 grand loss and when i closed the tailgate it seemed pretty flimsy. I had an SV as a rental for 3 weeks, that 3.8 is a great engine, any car is give and take, i was thinking of picking up a Versa or Sentra for a everyday vehicle? I see LOTS on FB with HIGH miles so that means the engine and even the CVT does have a long lifespan, i see the Versa is available with a 5 speed.

@@dantimber NO, 3.6 it was on the lot and i don't tow so the 3.6 is fine for me but It has the tow package, 355 gears w limited slip, fogs, power rear window, power seats, upgraded seats, tow hooks, push to start, etc. They took off over 9K and its paid for, no regrets.
