I got moved up at a job when they picked someone else for the original promotion but they made one for me bc they didn't want to tell me no. I was beyond flattered and gave them my all. At my new job I have been highlighted and trained to be promoted. I was doing work above and beyond my role and above and beyond the role I wanted to move up to. They gave me the run around and made promises at meetings in front of the leadership staff they never came through on. It came down to that they just didn't have a position open and didn't have it in the budget. After I moved laterally to a different dept someone who had the title I wanted finally left but I love my new role even though I get paid the same and didn't get a raise this year, maybe not even this year too with the way things are looking, but here I am being told the same thing. I am not giving up. They just offered me more responsibility which I accepted immediately and asked for more when possible. Picking up as much overtime as possible and learning anything I can. We will see what happens but I am cool right now bc this job makes my home life amazing.

Well explained. I totally agree that the best way is to put yourself into the situation and see whether the job is made for you. However, it's not just a profession that matters, there are also other factors such as surroundings and interpersonal relations. It is not only important that someone is "working hard effectively", it is also important that the work is recognised by those who are governing the enterprise. That's why you need to work on both professional and personal development.

Absolutely not true. I did massage in my 20’s for 9 years, very glad I left the field. It served its purpose for me but I wanted MORE which massage did not allow. Most people I know that do massage now feel stuck and their hours were cut because no one is getting massaged now especially during a pandemic. I left in 2018 and it was the best decision I made. I now make almost 6 figures in a completely different field, have amazing PTO, vacation, sick time, HEALTH INSURANCE! And I work in a healthy environment that I’m proud of. If I can do it with zero college degree you can as well. Massage was not stable and your paychecks fluctuate weekly.
