I own a 2020 STI that I bought in January 2022 and I had a base model 2017 WRX. I will keep my 2020 pure bone stock. It is awesome to see what our cars can do. The S209 is rge top of the line STI.

2020 sti about to get a protune. Weighed pro’s and cons and while most people say “you’ll blow your engine” I think a protune really dials into your specific car, according to its specs and your environment etc. Any pros cons from your protune? Thanks!

The only con is really the possibility of voiding warranty, otherwise the car feels great, no longer feels like it's pulling timing randomly on a 3rd gear pull. The most important thing that is overlooked: find a reputable tuner. You have to have a good idea of which tuner is actually reputable, don't go by just reviews on google, most people will just write up a review after the tune giving high praise, you need to also know by word of mouth, and have an idea of which cars are blowing up from bad tuners vs staying reliable from good tuners.

Definitely and totally agree. The warranty is what I wrestled with for a while, but Im confident with the benefits of the pro tune. I also feel theres a large base of folks who mod without appropriate consideration, drive it like a rented mule and then complain about reliability. Ive heard great things about Brentuning as well. Im heading to Snail Tuning out here on the west coast, the only Gold Certified Cobb tuner besides the other shop in AZ. Very well known and has over 15+ yrs on the platform. On another note, I saw you’re making 370whp. Thats pretty amazing with no bolt ons or E85, but I think theres still a lot of research that needs to be done on the upgraded Type RA block.

I'm in the same boat, stock tune on these cars (21 STI for me) cuts timing hard and really doesn't let you drive it out. At least with the regular STI power doesnt come on till late in the rev range.

I think the regular STI has good low-mid range torque from the VF48 setup, and dies off in the higher RPMs. Compared to the S209, with the larger HKS turbo, there's barely anything on the low end, and boost starts building at 3500 rpm to redline, and so having that increased redline to 7200 RPM definitely helps a lot by providing more area under the curve at those higher RPMs. Thanks for watching!

Yes, I told my tuner to give full boost on S mode so I wouldn't have to change it to S# all the time. There will be a vid on the custom tune in the near future. Thanks for watching!

S209 should do backseat , rear speakers,….. delete like the GR Corolla Morizo saving more weights . It is too heavy. I think around 3,300 lbs is much more better.

Agreed. I do need my back seats though to carry my baby places. My target is actually 3300 lbs, I'll try to get there with lightweight wheels, and JDM bumper beams

Let me ask you, was your previous STI faster at the track when you installed coilovers or it didn't make a difference.

I didn't get a baseline with stock suspension, so I can't really tell you.

Does the s209 have throttle mapping similar to a 1:1 pedal travel to throttle percentage like a lot of tuners do on custom tunes (50% pedal travel = 50% throttle mapping) or is it different still? I have 1:1 done on my custom tune, but curious if s209 does something different from the factory. Maybe your tuner could answer that question.

I looked closely at the stock throttle mapping and it's actually not linear although the drive feels very linear. The Cobb throttle mapping makes it 1:1 and very linear. My tuner gave me two maps, one with stock throttle mapping, and one with Cobb throttle mapping. Currently, I am testing out the Cobb throttle map and getting used to it with my new tune.
