Thanks for the update, Dr. Dan. Glad to hear that the chemo has been doing the job in decreasing the size of the tumors. Continued prayers as you undergo the oral chemo & radiation treatments these next few weeks. Hope you enjoy the time off from work and get to spend time with loved ones. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

OMG, I am so sorry to hear that!! That must be crushing news for you, I can't imagine. Of course none of us have any real certainty -- whether we're sick or not. But I wish you a healthy healing. Thank you for sharing you & your husband's experience. I am crying. But I want you to have joy in your life going forward. I know it's too soon to think about that yet, but you will find it. Thank you also for sharing wtih me. Knowing others are going thorugh similar issues is hugely encouraging. I know holidays are really tough when you've lost someone. I hope you know I am there with you.

Me as well but if one is put into a position as such there's really no choice other than maybe dying at faster rate/pace if the patient refuses any & all modern medication/surgeries!

I am suspicious of the efficacy of radiation and chemotherapy. Are the pluses more than the minuses? Are the positive effects lasting or does everyone relapse ? I need to make a decision soon about my course of treatment.
@KS-yp1jl6 ай бұрын
It depends on type, grade, and stage of cancer.
@renzo64906 ай бұрын
@@KS-yp1jl indeed… I had a stage one anal cancer . No metastasis. The prognosis was positive. Six weeks of radiation therapy. Two weeks of chemotherapy. The first couple of weeks were unremarkable. But with time, the side effects increased dramatically. Loss of appetite. Mouth sores Fatigue Some hair loss And pain that is impossible to describe! Every bowel movement was extreme agony and the pain lasted for hours afterward. I went to the emergency room. While waiting to be seen, I began to scream. It was not anything I could control…. It just came out of me. They had to give me morphine. My immune system was essentially wiped out. I was put on medications to help prevent infections. Medications for pain management that didn’t work very well. I lost eleven pounds. For a month after chemo/ radiation therapy ended these symptoms continued and sometimes got worse. It has been the worst ordeal I have ever been through. Currently, the pain is gone. My energy has improved. I’m almost back to normal. In a month, I will be scanned to learn if my cancer is gone. What will I do if it isn’t? What will I do if ,in the future, it returns? The prospect of repeating the chemo radiation therapy is more than daunting. I still don’t know if this invasive treatment is good medicine. I see how many people are employed. I see how much big Pharma is invested in the present arrangement. If a cure for cancer is ever found,it would put a significant number of people out of work. All sorts of very expensive machines are purchased for use In chemo radiation therapy! It’s a whole enormous establishment.

So what was your decision on the approach?
@renzo64906 ай бұрын
@@JujuPig-vz5mq I had a stage one anal cancer….no metastasis. I saw KZbin videos made by people who told horrific stories about the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. I saw videos by people who advocated a variety of diets and alternative treatments. I didn’t know what to do. The decision was a crucial one! I decided to go with the chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The prognosis was very positive. The side effects were,indeed, grueling. Fatigue, intense pain at times. Diarrhea and constipation! Some hair loss. Lightheadedness Dehydration. Low blood pressure. These effects lasted for about a month after the therapy was done. But at this point, I feel just as I did before the therapy. Still a bit weak.but I expect that will change. Next month, I will be scanned to see if the cancer is gone. I’m confident.
