I’m not trying to be one of “those people” to say this, but I listen to a lot of these stories. It always seems like with Reddit cheating women should be burned at the stake like a witch and if you don’t tell her husband you deserve to burn with her, but with men cheating it’s ✨causing drama✨ or ✨none of your business✨ (Again, this is just from my experience with these stories and Reddit. Story 1: Not reddit out here accusing Op of just wanting to cause drama. He cheated, she deserves to know that. Doesn't matter if it was the ~hormones~ + he might be closeted and regrets doing so, because you know damn well that if it was a woman, then him responding to the ~hormones~ would be irrelevant and they'd be tearing him a new one. Even then, he _still_ bashes gay people and acts shitty towards them. This is one of those instances where just because _you're_ gay/bi/trans/whatever, doesn't mean you're safe from the consequences of _your_ actions. "He might just be scared to come out" doesn't mean he gets to be a piece of shit and get away with it. I was afraid to come out at one point too, you still wouldn't have caught me cheating or bashing anyone who is/was like me, and considering Op still lives with them despite calling the parents out on their shit, it isn't a full "bash them or get out" scenario, he chose to go that route despite clearly seeing that his sister was fine after not doing so. Okay, well if he was only 15 and stupid and it's a forgiveable offense, then no one should have a problem telling the girlfriend, right? Because if it's so forgiveable, surely it shouldn't bother her, right? Surely, if the relationship implodes, it's HER prerogative, and she can't make that decision for herself without knowing she has one to make. Why does a forgiveable offense automatically equal not telling the other party? Oh, let me guess, because it ISN'T forgiveable to the one person that matters in the situation- the girlfriend.

Story #2: OP, next time, don't mention the specific reason you can't "lend" money to your lazy, good-for-nothing, Golden Child sister, and direct her back to Mummy Dearest and her flying monkeys. Better yet, just go NC with her permanently. Block *everyone* spamming you and tell your husband to stay in his lane. That cat has given you far more love than anyone biologically related to you.

This is why we as a society should stop drilling "FAAAAAAMILY" in kids. Family is important, but being a decent human being should come before all that. If your family member is being a shitstain, then you hold them accountable for it.

I grow up with parents and siblings that I am close too. they were and are good people. but I have met work mates and school mates that do not have good parents or good siblings and I learn to listen and not judge. that is were I learn the term sperm donor and egg donor. a term people use so they do not have to use the terms mom or dad because these people are not. it does also with brother and sister. some people have family member who do not do anything good to desire there terms either.

In story 1, first the op is showing what I like to call toxic family culture. People should be allowed to do terrible things and get away with it because "family." Let's also not forget that a lot of people were saying to let the brother get away with the cheating. Why? Because he's gay? That doesn't give you a douchebag pass, you should pay the consequences whether straight or otherwise. Anybody that uses someone as a beard without consent and then proceed to cheat with same sex people behind their back is a terrible person

Frame: we're talking high school relationship at the time of the incident. OP was 12, O was 15, K was 15. Were they "going steady" (exclusive) at the time? Maybe I'm old school, but relationships in middle and high school had levels; there was having a relationship but not committed, then there's going steady (committed). I want to assume they were committed given how OP is presenting this, but the data in fact is just...missing... That said, K should know, now that things are serious (no secrets in marriage). OP is struggling with her loyalty to family and her conscience, and she's what - 15, 16 years old now. Let's see how this ends. Edit: oh wow, that took a dark turn. Kudos to OP for doing the right thing. K knows, it's her choice now how to proceed.

Story 1: I feel horrible for the girlfriend, but very satisfied with the update showing that the brother is still a cheater after all the comments trying to defend him, even more the person saying "he's been loyal since then", oh please.I still belive that the only people who tries to defend/justify cheating are cheaters themselves. Also, the brother using his girfriend so he can pretend to be straight while having fun with his 'friends' on the side, disgusting.

Sometimes I give a reason for saying No. That reason is usually because I don’t want to. Sure I feel guilty sometimes (if the person is disappointed) but that goes away. Don't let people guilt you into doing things for them especially when they're undeserving, have an entitled attitude, a manipulator, etc.

S1: What the flying fuck is with the people excusing her brother’s cheating as “hormones” or “a phase”?! Cheating is cheating, period. And pretending to be straight and making homophobic jokes? Nah fam. “I’d want to know if I was in her place.” Imo, OP, that tells you what you need to do.

Story 1 commenters are wild. I hope it's not being excused as "just hormones" because it was a gay interaction, and the reaction would have been the same from them if the 15 year old "O" cheated with a girl on "K". For me, cheating is cheating is cheating, doesn't matter if you're 15 or 25. You know it's wrong.

The idea of grown adults lacking the decency and comprehension skills to interact with a 16 yr old is insane but not shocking. The girl is 16 and seen it when she was 12. No duh she hesitated for so long, especially if her family truly did push the "family first" ideal to that degree.

I just did some mental math and realize something. OP was 12 when she walked in on her brother making out with his best friend. She also mentioned that she had been calling out her parents BS since she was 13. That means she didn't start calling out her parents BS until after she walked it on her brother making out with another guy. Seems to me like she was low-key being his biggest supporter for the last 4 years, cheating aside since she clearly didn't know it was a repeating thing. When I was 16 the trend in my high school was "it's not cheating if your partners are different genders from each other" so IMO OP is ahead of the developmental curve. The situational blind commenters on Reddit who are judging her for waiting 4 years to say anything to the girlfriend need to take a reality pill because that is way too much pressure to put on a literal child. And just because OP was young at the time it didn't understand the full scale of consequences doesn't mean that she should look the other way now that she does just because it's been 4 years.

As a former vet student, Reddit's slagging off the vet that saved Tom is exactly why I quit. People are generally awful. The vet I apprenticed under was one of the best I've met, but in the few months I shadowed at her clinic, I saw dozens of pet owners (almost always dog moms, go figure) scream at her for charging what she did, calling her a scam artist, that if she REALLY loved animals she'd do this for free, etc. Here's the thing you ungrateful troglodytes of Reddit don't understand: vets have to use the exact same equipment as human medicine. They don't make MRI machines and blood centrifuges for cats and dogs, obviously. These testing machines are expensive af, and unlike human doctors, vets don't get any discounts and they can't bill insurance for them. It's all out of pocket. Furthermore, vets can't specialize. They have to be radiologists, oncologists, surgeons, renal specialists, and so on. For DOZENS of species. And, once again, we learn the same exact same medical education as human doctors. Pets suffer many of the same diseases we do, and we pay the same high amount to receive our DVM as doctors do their PhD and MD. ....Only they don't get paid even 1/10th what an entry level doctor can earn. Between the massive, insurmountable debt, low pay, expensive equipment, and ungrateful, hostile pet owners constantly bullying them, it's no wonder that veterinarians have the highest Self Crit rate of any other career. So maybe be a little kinder and stop assuming all vets are out to extort you, ok? Ungrateful conkwockets.

My goodness Reddit, she's a damn child! They act like she's a grown woman and a horrible person. She was 11 at the time damn.. Now the brother, many will make comments like that when they are still in the closet and might be using his girlfriend as the beard or he was just experimenting... The way he reacted makes me feel he's in the closet... The gf may know though or have a feeling. Yea, his reaction is sus to me...

“It was just hormones” is the lamest excuse for cheating because you never would’ve cheated if you didn’t want to no matter the gender of the affair partner. And internalized homophobia is still homophobia and should never be tolerated. If I was OP I would also tell her brother’s best friend and other AP what he’s been saying behind closed doors about the LGBT+
