Time for me to throw another recc out here! My recc this time is "Soil" A horror mystery that deals with the unsolvable. The art style is really influenced from western comics and there are so many twists and turns, yet so many little hints to fill you in... It's great! The body horror in it is also just as great. A solid 8/10 from me! Bonus recc: The movie "Noroi" (it's on Shudder as well as re-uploaded to KZbin) is easily one of my favorite horror films to date. It focuses on a paranormal investigation where the leading man mysteriously disappeared after filming this documentary. It's found footage-esque, but even if you don't like found footage, everything feels incredibly realistic. It's an incredibly well written mystery and you get to pick up the clues and figure things out with the characters. They don't hide things, they don't treat you like your stupid, they tell an amazing mystery that I feel everyone should experience. Have a good one guys!

the english translation by fan has progressed to chapter 43 by now, but I have finished reading the raw version. certainly it gave me Resident Evil vibe, with the creatures being based on those from japanese folklore. The story was well written despite some inconsistencies, but overall, it's really worth reading!

Split personalities, DID also known as MUltiple personality disorder. Doesnt work this way, alters (other personalities) arent serial killers they are often victims, so would be really nice if they could make these disorders accurate in movies,manga anime and help remove the stigma for these individuals. The personalities are formed from child hood trauma if I'm correct but once the personality is formed, isnt that personality just an entirely new entity? Like I thought its a completely different entity that shares the same body and has its own sexual orientation, favorites, dislikes, appearance etc. So like would a psychopathic personality be possible? Jinmen is ok, I read the whole series a while back. The body horror is rather on the light side, and all the human faces on animals have a distorted filter look that make them more surreal than realistic. I didn’t get nightmares since the surreal filter look really break the immersion

It's "the premeditation (with malice)" as wikipedia describes it and the article goes on to explain that it is a "required element of some crimes and a unique element for first-degree or aggravated murder" in some jurisdictions. It's called Dissociative Identity Disorder now. They realized it wasn't a personality disorder but a dissociative disorder instead. And that's another thing, you have to tell people that because people are that misinformed. Horror like "Split" isn't a good thing. It demonizes trauma disorders like DID

If there's an English translation available, I'd be interested in checking it out. Almost as interested as I am in never seeing another panel of "Jinmen" and forgetting that I know it exists. Almost.

@Certified slither Boi If you don't wanna get scarred then don't. Just a very short version of the scene is that basically a guy was walking down a hall and heard moaning. Getting closed to that sound he realized a couple were having hardcore sex in their room. The door was slightly opened and being aroused himself he tried to peak only to see it was two giant panda with the most horrific human faces. He tried to escape but couldn't getting mauled to death from those creatures and getting impaled to a statue right through the mouth.

Im so happy Joey finally noticed Jinmen!. When I discovered this manga it wasn't well known and it was hard to get it or read it online since there wasn't a lot of translations. Im so glad it finally got the recognition it deserves and I hope one day it get's a full translated version because as far as I know I haven't found one :(

Jinmen is one of my favorite horror manga creations. It’s very interesting to me and I’m endorsed and impatient for the next chapter to come out. I feel the relationship between the main character and Hanayo is deep and it makes Hanayo suffer so much because they are supposed to be enemies and kill each other. Their relationship makes me so engulfed in the manga and always wondering what the outcome will end up like.
