The Devinci Wilson has been one of if not my favourite bike I have ever owned! Even though it still has 26" Wheels it still rides great because there never was anything wrong with 26" in the first place! ;)
I love how the suspension feels on this bike, the rear travel is very progressive and feels awesome!

I ride a 2013 26" giant glory which is the most comfortable for me MTB I've ever had, and until I can ride it like Danny Hart did at Champéry in 2011 I definitely don't need an "upgrade".

@@UserUser-zc6fx If you were just putting a 27.5 on the front only and a fork to suite i think it prob would work ok. I don't have one hanging around to try it but on mine with the 26" front wheel I have the forks flush with the top of the clamps and a zero rise direct mount 30mm stem with a pair of 60mm rise bars and that setup feels perfect for me (for reference mine is a size medium frame and I'm 5'10") So with the 27.5 wheel and fork with the forks up into the clamps a bit higher you should be able to get pretty close to the factory 63.5° head angle then mess around with your stem and bar combo as normal, frame clearance at bottom out should be ok but def measure it up to make sure. Their great fun bikes IMO def be worth grabbing and a bonus if you can get it cheap!

I’m actually looking to build up a 27.5 enduro bike frame with a 26er Rockshox Boxxer that I have lying around. Yes, the bottom bracket is going to be low. No, I’m not sure if it will ride well😂 I cracked my 2012 Canyon torque and want to keep my 26er alive

@@torfossberg1137 it was a really fun bike but the frame was super flexy. There was no seat stay bridge between the two seat stays making it very floppy feeling, and often times it meant the rear wheel would fully buzz the inside of the seat stays

I have the 2012 Wilson. Love it. I put a 27.5 on the front so it’s a mini mullet. Also a dropper post. She’s a funky bike but works great. I’m working on putting an 11speed gruppo on it. Then I hope to be able to ride up fire roads easier.

You couldn't be more right, Jordan. I just sold My custom built Iron Horse Sunday '09. I swear to God My 2009 Boxxer World Cup had a Marzocchi 'moto' feel to it. In comparison, 2018 27,5 Boxxer Team felt like shhhhh... You got it right, when You said, that the Wilson felt more nimble. Thats what I look for, when riding. There's no denying, that modern bikes are faster and more forgiving, BUT get one setting crucially wrong and your bike is going to punish you every time. My 2017 Summum had a defective DHX2 with a higher spring rate, than My back could handle and every now and then, it woud demolish My lower back on some harsher drops. Eventually I ended up blowing the shock, when it developed a crack on a weld in the main valve chamber. My final point is: every rider has a specific type of bike they are most comfotrable on. The same way you like more trails than others, you enjoy some bikes more than others. Don't follow industry numbers because of hype, everything happens for a reason and more than offen "progress" is just a fancy way of getting you to pay for unnecessary shhh... Don't get Me wrong, 29" is unrivaled, when it comes to small bump efficiency and maintaining speed and dropper post is a godsend for it's ingenouity, also E-bikes make everything so much better, BUT do you remember how your old crappy bike felt when going through the rough stuff??? It felt like heaven and you didn't need anything to feel better. Nowadays it feels like coughing up more dough to keep up with the latest trends to keep the laws of physics in your favour. Keep on rippin'! /;;/

I'd love to have an Ironhorse Sunday! Well said though. We're not pro's chasing milliseconds. Have good people to ride with and it doesn't really matter what bike you're on. I have no intentions of upgrading my 2014 Norco Aurum

I think for the average rider a high quality 10 year old bike is probably more-than-capable. I just bought a 2013 Yeti SB95 for a great price - the geometry isn't cutting edge, but is still very-much "modern", and any outdated components can easily be replaced with brand new ones. I'm coming off a hardtail and plan to refresh whatever's necessary on the YT to turn it into my primary trail bike for next season. All-in I'm probably only going to be spending ~$1000 on the bike, which is a great deal for a FS 29er - and as an intermediate rider there's absolutely no reason I'll be held-back by this bike. It's going to easily tear up anything and everything I throw at it.

My 2002 Klein Palomino is still a joy to ride, and I've kept it in good shape. I don't think it's up to most modern trails, which have been developed over the last decade to match contemporary bikes, but it's still good on flowy trails, pavement, and "gravel". The 26" wheels and relatively steep geometry make it more nimble than my two 29ers.

People need to stop paying so much attention to what year is next to the name of a bike - a good bike is a good bike regardless. Having yearly models is just a marketing tactic by bike companies to get you to believe newer is better. If you spend $5k+ on a bike you should have the intentions of using if for 5+ years.
