Ah Elli! - where you walk, we walk. In our muscles, hearts and minds. And for this video, we walked with sun and smiles and great pleasure - (mind you - I still have 12 minutes of video to watch - so it had better not rain before the finish!!! HaHa! ). I don't have a pair of your shoes for the bogs or an Otto to lead the way for my future walks but I reckon I'll send my partner on ahead and she can roll in the grass as much as she likes! Take Care - M.

Hi Elli. With regards to the paving slabs that can be found in lots of upland areas these days......I know they're not to everyone's taste but my view is that ideally everything would be natural. But it's not 1950 anymore when the amount of people walking for leisure was so much less than the volume of people who want to experience these wild places in 2024. Therefore I think we have to accept that for the protection of the peat-lands & bog then these paths are the price we have to pay to preserve the beauty that we all want to visit. Little Otto is an absolute star. Looking forward to the next stage xx

Great to see you enjoying this walk through the parts of Yorkshire I grew up in during the 1960s. I'd love to go back one day (from Australia) and do some hiking like this, though I fear there would be too many people, cars and too much overdevelopment. But your videos make it look great.

Your videos are a wonderful reminder of what stunning scenery England has to offer. Glad you get to see some of the best we have to offer. Always look forward to your videos and commentary, extremely professional. Thank you once again for uploading another Coast to Coast trail 👍🏻

Hi Eli. It's somehow fitting and almost poetic that the stone flags have been placed on the moors to prevent erosion. Most of these stones have been recycled from old victorian wollen mills and were originally quarried during the industrial revolution from the same areas to which they are returning. In a way it's a very natural form of recycling. In fact identical stone flags were laid across the moors in the UK centuries ago when the old packhorse routes were built.

Great stuff. Elli I'm so pleased that you released this vlog. Nothing on tv, just finished my book and wondering what to do when I saw the prompt on my tablet. So pleased that you had a good day, except for the bogs, and it's lovely to see both of you enjoying yourselves. I just love Otto, he enjoys the different scents the way you admire the scenery : and you're special companions for each other. Thats lovely to see. Cheers ! Sheffield South Yorkshire.

This is lovely video and well presented, the scenery is truly amazing and Otto looks vey happy on the Yorkshire dales. You are not far away from another popular hike in the North Yorkshire Moors called the Lyke Wake walk it’s a 40 mile hike over the North Yorkshire Moors, its an ancient monks burial path to bury the dead in the sea, I have walked it twice (when younger) and you used to get a coffin badge for completing it. It’s only 40 miles so it should like a stroll in the park 😅 after completing the coast to coast.

I do not know how you felt crossing the M6, I thought it was so noisy after the peace and quiet of the Lake District and like you I did Shap to Kirkby Stepens in one day, it did not help that I had rain all day, but I knew I had a bed for the night at the Kirkby Stephens converted Church as a overnight stay then a tough mornings hike over to Nine Standards and Keld. Happy Hiking, Tony in Essex
@user-TonyUKАй бұрын
As someone who hike the Coast to Coast BEFORE they put the stone slabs down to slow the errosion they would a very big change from the swampy ground that I walked/waded through. It was so deep in place I sank uo to my waist, and then had to try crawl out of the bogs. Kirkby Stepens to Keld was my route that day and it took me nearly 12 hours. Tony in Essex

Keld is my Happy Place, I have so many memories of my first visit on the Pennine Way and my C2C brought it all back. Now being 67 yrs old I am happy to be in Keld and enjoy the views down by the River. In fact I am currently planning another visit to Keld next year 2025 that I think will be my last visit as I am not getting any younger. I will be happy just sitting by the falls on the river bank and let past memories remind me of my Younger self Hiking both the Pennine Way and C2C twice. Tony in Essex
@ellihikesАй бұрын
I can totally relate to that. I liked Keld last year when we were doing the Pennine Way, but this year it just hit me and I really felt so at peace there. It is a happy place for sure, it just has this special atmosphere, doesn't it :)

That sounds very very harsh, the stones definitely make hiking a bit easier, especially when it's really wet! Thank you so much for following along, I really enjoy reading your comments and your perspective :)

Aww, that's a very kind thing to say and reading your comment made me happy especially because doing youtube in a language that's not my native language was hard at first and made me feel quite insecure.... Hi Elli have u tried Lancashire crisps yet? I’m addicted to salt and vinegar flavour! Haven’t had Yorkshire crisps but I will try to find them after your recommendation 👍 Next time you’re over in the UK try and find them as a comparison. @@ellihikes Mostly interested in the elevation changes (how difficult it really is + does the higher average elevation mean you need warmer clothes and gear + how much food you need to carry + are there plentyful wild camping opportunities along the way? (we've managed to wild camp the whole C2C, however, it was not the easiest task). Thanks in advance.
