The riser in supposed to be Gen4 however it has a manufacturing defect. I think Fractal are working on a replacement piece. So it may be worth checking in if you've bought the Ridge Edit: received a replacement via Fractal Support - now fully working on PCIe 4.0

Actually theres 2 versions, gen3 and gen4

That's correct, and that changed since posting this video! The Gen 3 ones are probably just rebadged old stock so that they don't need to send the replacement riser 😉

Wow, love that! May I ask: What cooler did you use and what temperatures on the CPU?

@@thecomputersurgeon I have the Noctua NH-L9x65 I'll have to actually run some temps to get the thermals.. but so far I have not had any issues. I chose the 7800x3d because it does not run that hot and does not draw a lot of power from the power supply. Ultimate sff cpu in my opinion.

@@3godzilla3 sorry, I actually switched to the NH-L12S with the amd offset bracket during gaming the cpu never goes past 50.. as for the gpu it depends on the game usually mid 50s or 60s I added two Noctua slim Fans to cool the gpu more. Hope this helps

This case gets so hot in the CPU chamber that you really ought to figure an additional 50 quid in case mods and 60mm fans.

Would this case fit a XFX Speedster SWFT 319 Radeon RX 6800? It is 340 mm long, vs the supported 335mm in length of the case. Is it possible to "find" the missing 5 mm somehow? E.g. by cutting off some pieces of the inner case?

@@kayboo5835 My build is amazing thanks for asking. The case seems well worth it. It's more spacious then expected & pciex4.0 riser works perfect on my end. The Fractal fans aren't really silent around 2000mhz with my gpu but it works well. I seem to get around 93c temp with my 5600x with basefan (wraith stealth). The case comes with alot of goodies aswell. So 100% satisfied with my first mini itx build.👍🏻

What is the max size of GPU that will fit? last Mitx build I did I took a grinder to the case and cut a bunch of metal out... looked rough but it worked... I would like to fit an rtx 380ti in this case, do you think it will fit?

I manage to fit Asrock 7900 xtx phantom gaming by changing the included fan with the slim 15mm one.

i found a way to put 2 x 3,5" Hdds in this case + a GPU. no problem

Looks a great case mate! It's a bit pricey for £120 personally especially as the Cooler Master NR200 is far cheaper but that is a bit bigger then this case. It depends what you are looking for out of a case but i think there are a lot of good options out there for cheaper too!

Little beastie but i prefer the thermaltake t100 mini, it can take a normal size psu and cpu cooler.

Whats weird is the pcie extensions are limited to 3.0 @ x16 bandwidth under windows but under linux its reading as Pcie 4.0 @ x16 wonder if its just seeing the capability of the card and reading that as available bandwidth over the connection!?!?

There's a known issues regarding the PCI-E 4.0 riser and Fractal has responded to ship a replacement for those who experienced this issue. Hope this helps(?)

It is advertised as Gen4 however there seems to be a manufacturing defect. It's my understanding that they're going to release an updated bracket that will work with Gen4 Thankfully, it makes barely any difference to performance at the moment

The industry needs to get rid of that stupid bulky 24 pin connector. Run the board off a 12V 8 pin like it's 2024 not 1995. And apparently this case is unable to manage GPU thermals in any configuration. Noted thanks!

Yeah that would be nice wouldn't it! If you get a GPU with a bulky cooler the temps are a lot better - I also did a 4080 build on the channel and that had a fat 3 fan cooler!
