Somehow, he thinks that is an excuse. The message still needs to get through. On another point, and you've raised it before... What's the point of putting in cycle lanes if people can block them, especially the entrance to a protected lane?

If I would want to listen to a podcast while driving, I would use the car radio with Bluetooth.

you should see what the "cycle lanes" look like further west on this road - Uxbridge Road. There are no wands, they consist of just paint and cars and vans are almost indefinitely, illegally parked in them throughout the day.

Are the wands here actually protective? We have similar looking ones in Cambridge, but they fold flat then pop back up if you drive over them. I've watched an ambulance driver cross them to use the cycle lane to bypass two lanes of stationary traffic.

@@weevilinabox Well, you wouldn't rely on them to protect you in the event of someone driving into them, but in theory, it provides a visible distinction between the cycle lane and the main carriageway. The point is, there is so much mewling and puking about cyclists not using the provisions - remember the recent eejit who thought it was OK to abuse Mikey because he was in the 'car not bike' part of the road - but then a lot of the time they're rendered unusable by allowing parking across them. The usual weak British infrastructure, and this is the nation's capital.

@@PedroConejo1939 couldn't have even attempted to word it as well as that. Talk about double standards, "cyclists" get maimed for "being in the way" and other such stupid claims and exclamations, but then they get given next to no actual infrastructure to enable riding "out" of the way

It would depend on how that affects your driving; the offence likely would be careless/inconsiderate/dangerous driving. Phone in cradle a contributing factor

Any interaction is a distraction. You would still have to look at the screen to see what it was telling you etc, therefore not looking at the road ahead/behind and also diminishing your awareness of your surroundings.

in 3 junctions of the M4 today i saw 5 people who were overtaking me holding a phone. 3 of them were typing/scrolling.

No, I could see he was held up by the vehicle in front and couldn't go. Besides which, he's required to give way to cyclists in the cycle lane.

A person is obviously driving although he may be in an almost interminable traffic block or waiting at a level crossing or at traffic lights or if he merely fills up with petrol; nor can it make any difference if in a traffic block he switches the engine off to prevent it overheating or to save petrol." Lord Upjohn judgement in Pinner v Everett (1977). If you are in traffic then you are driving.

Its so weird.... in germany a guy just went viral for reporting every wrong praking....and the people HATE him... im suprised that not the case here... but i would rage a lot with london traffic and pedestrians crossing every red light 😂

I actually end up blocking their way like you do on the keep left😅 They always ask what's my business and i should mind my own and dont seem to understand that me almost running into them or their kids was my business. 😂 bloddy idiots..... let me tell ya germans like rules... but they like to break em as much 😭

@@CyclingMikey Oh and what i WANTED to say :D The "Anzeigenhauptmeister" which translates to Report Master is being hated by the genral public... they hate him because he is wasting law enforcement resources. They just cant process that many reports.... On one side im with him since he just shows vigilance but i have to agree to the fact that he is fighting wind mills :/

I'm just a witness, not a cop. Stop committing traffic offences like this. The idea that anyone anywhere could video you any time takes all the fun out of anti-social driving. The sense of paranoia really eats away at you. 3rd party video reporting has exploded across the UK. In London in 2022 almost 15,000 such prosecutions were started. There are tens of thousands of people videoing and reporting bad driving.
