My Uncle Jim was married 4 times. His last wife was his sister’s step daughter. This created some crazy relationships! Each year at our family reunion he would pull out his guitar and sing this song. We would all have a good laugh. He was the wildest roughest and craziest of all but outlived his 9 brothers and sisters. He’s gone now but we still share the video of him singing this song.

I have to say this is hilarious to me because it is my life in song. My mom and dad were divorced when I was 5 when I was 16 my mother married her father-in-law. My grandfather became my stepdad, my dad was my step brother, my uncles became my step brothers and my cousins became my nieces and nephews. Got to love family reunions!!! P.S. My father actually lived with us for a year after he moved back to Florida from South Carolina.

This is actually a cover of an old bluegrass comedy tune by Lonzo and Oscar. Ray Stevens covered it years later. Being the humorist that he is, it was a natural fit for him. You should do a reaction to Ray’s “Mama Sang Bass”, “Right Reverend Roadhog McGraw” or “The Do Right Family”.

Ray Stevens is a country singer/songwriter who does a lot of comedy songs like The Streak, Ahab the Arab, Cause Santa Claus is Watching You, Mississippi Squirrel Revival to name a few. However some of his serious song is Misty, and one that I think you would enjoy, "Everything is Beautiful." This song was covered by many artist during the 60-70 timeframe. the actual story is much older than Ray's song. It seem, that, sometime in the 18th centrury a man committed suicide and left a note that basicly told the story in the song. But he went on and on about what cause his distress and really it added up to him being not only his own grandpa, but his own dad, uncle, brother, son, grandson, and his wife became so many other relations too! He became confused as to what to call himself!!

When we got into town I said just ask anyone we are all related. My dad did and the guy we asked said he knew where he lived. Just to get the jest, he started with a long string of connected people who were somehow related to us. I said I told you so and just laughed.
