@Specialeffecks3 ай бұрын
Exactly. Whichever religion happened to be most convenient at the time with just enough preconceived familiarity by the 'mark'. What would impress me - since believers claim to value "truth" - is if ANY religion spent even a bit of time (i.e. even 15 min out of every 2 hours of preaching) rigorously TESTING their claims one-by-one for accuracy. But no, religion is not about verifiable facts; it's about placating one's fear of the unknown and existential dread in a quick, easy, prepackaged way for the ignorant masses (who haven't the time or skills to do any difficult analysis to determine what is verifiably accurate). Whatever makes one feel better, then unfortunately mentally traps you it ('marks' become dependent on believing through effective conditioning). Religions best at this tactic survive and thrive, other religions with inadequate survival traits decline, or die out.

Please don't forget about the other brain-washed people who come to Budda, Krishna, L. Ron Hubbard, Allah, Odin, etc. Even Some Christian don't think Jesus is a god (Jehovah's Witness, who only have one - Jehovah). Now that I think of it, most Christians only 'use' Jesus to 'get to the Father' ("No one comes to the Father except through me." - per Jesus, as claimed in an old book, one of several old 'holy' books). It all just appears to be primitive superstition thought up by ancient primates.
@sun1one13 ай бұрын
@@Specialeffecks 1. Buddha is not a god, people don't "come to" him in the way you're thinking. 2. Technically you can't become a Hindu, you have to be born one. 3. No one today actually believes that Odin exists, he is just a symbol.
@Specialeffecks3 ай бұрын
@@sun1one1 Maybe this leaves other gods like Allah, L. Ron Hubbard or one or more of the many other proposed gods not mentioned, or even some new ones yet to be conceived in the future by humans. Is there evidence that god candidates can only be from the popular gods in older writings? Maybe the tests for any god performed by those ancient humans were inconclusive or fell outside the test's error bars (or they were otherwise mistaken with one or more of the details). For example, Hayyi Rabbi is the god for Sabian Mandaeism, Manujeshvara is the 'god of humans' in Hinduism. Jainism seems to reject the concept of a creator deity, and it appears they believe that a person themself becomes a god - similar to what Scientology believes. JW's claim neither Jesus nor the holy ghost are gods and there are not three (unlike for Trinitarians), but only one - Jehovah, but still call themselves "Christian" and part of a Christian religion. It just seems strange to me that believers of all the different religions are convinced their own god(s) factually exist and equally convinced it's not the god(s) claims (or no god claims) of competing religions. This alone tells me there hasn't been definitive verification, which would instead result in all religions to agree on the god or gods (or lack thereof). At most one sect of one religion could even be correct, if any, therefore MOST believers are in fact wrong - even though they are convinced they are right (i.e. if I'm currently convinced that I'm right, I'm instead most likely wrong). Considering this fact, I don't claim to 'know' for certain that any god or gods have been proven to exist via any rigorous validation testing and demonstration, therefore I don't currently accept the god hypothesis. To claim I know when I don't know seems like I would be dishonest. At least I'm not actively spending my time believing in the wrong god(s), if any - like the vast majority of believers MUST be doing.
