so hyped for rots, you’ll do great. if you want the deleted scenes upscaled i’d check out original trilogy forum and then also for inspiration Hal9000 did a good recut of rots and had some good editing tricks, which i’m sure you’ll find out anyways as you edit

From my perspective, in addition to what you stated, I feel that The Phantom Menace can't be fixed because it feels more like a side story than a mainline movie. In other words, it feels like it doesn't belong. And there's no way to fix something that doesn't belong.

And now the age old question, was Phantom Menace the cause or a symptom? A lot of factors play into this development. New technology making this pre-editing possible. Movie seemed to get bigger and more costly which also increase the needs of profit. In order to minimize risk and maximise profit, they try to make movies that are so non offensive and universially appealing that they end up making the same movie. Also somehow society seems to prefer vane stuff that looks like a lot but has the depht of a kiddie swimming pool. Phantom Menace surely didn't cause all this but it catalysed it.

Caleb, you hit it right on the nail! The Phantom Menace cannot be fixed because it is unsalvageable and time-filler. I look forward to seeing more of your videos! You just earned a new subscriber! 🙂

I actually think TPM is better than AotC and is in fact one of the better SW movies in general.
@ProJatior3 жыл бұрын
Dude his rant near the end made no sense to me. TPM is narratively more structurally sound than any of the sequels are. Clones is fixable if the deleted scenes get finished and some fat gets trimmed here and there.
@ProJatior3 жыл бұрын
I’ve always preferred Menace to Clones and most of the critiques I’ve heard made no sense. The only ones I get are...You bought a kid to a war zone and it’s never explained how Anakin got into the droid control ship in movie though that is in The Clone Wars. Though he said some truth he’s still got some misinformation likely based on how the Prequels were viewed before the newest trilogy wrapped.

@@ProJatior i think those two should be one and the same movie, scrap the bad parts, keep the good ones and then it'd be fine, heck even good.

I made an edit of TPM and I just mostly cut out the naboo scene and treated invasion of naboo like the ship boarding in a new hope.

Wow just remembered how many shadows of the empire action figures I had - that green guy, mullet chewie. Why did I have these? I did rent shadows from west coast video but I was too young to get past the first sequence. Like I played one minute and quit. I definitely ad a child didn't understand or remember that name

The Anti-Cheese Edits are (in my opinion) the best fan-versions of the prequels that still result in them being recognizable Star Wars films. However, my favourite way to watch them is the Auralnauts' repurposing into the Jedi Party saga.
@JesusChrist-qs8sx5 ай бұрын
The phantom menace isn't a great movie, but I do think it's essential for the prequels to work - the whole thing that makes the prequels so cool (and TPM especially) and relevant is that you have, in TPM, a corporation seizing military control of a state of the Republic...and the Senate doing nothing. Standing by and shrugging their shoulders. And then two decades later, the Senate, still doing nothing, nominates a fascist who leads the Republic in a civil war lead by a religious regime, only to kill off the religious warriors as soon as they're no longer convenient. It's just...too relevant to the modern day, even more than when it came out. And I think the time skip is really important for setting that tone and establishing just how bad the legislature had failed the republic. Of course, George Lucae can't write for shit. But still

I've been a fan of your content for a while. Your prequel edits are really cool, and I even incorporated some of your ideas in my own prequel edits. I'm not a George Lucas fanboy, and I agree with your assessment of his problem areas. However, the common claim that Richard Chew, Marcia Lucas, and Paul Hirsch saved Star Wars through editing is very debatable at best. They certainly contributed to it (as does every editor), but it wasn't as "doomed" as people make it out to be. I'd highly recommend checking out this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZ3Uh3qwa9KCjKc

I’d have to disagree though I think visually pretty much almost the entirety this movie is just phenomenal so I don’t know what you meant at the beginning. Obviously, it’s the rest Falls flat but in terms of CG and practical effects just everything the cinematography still holds up
