This is actually a breath of fresh air. I’d rather move away from seeing all these new gear videos that fuels GAS. There’s always going to be something newer with “better” specs. But technology is moving forward so fast, that it’s frankly getting overwhelming. At least for me. My favorite videos are when someone takes a piece of older gear or something budget friendly, and captures something with a feeling to it. A little piece of magic. I love your channel because of your experience and wisdom with photography and the way you communicate it. I am a 67 year old disabled photographer from North Carolina and I am sticking with you. I have different cameras, Canon, Nikon, Rollieflex, and Fujifilm as my main work horse. I love to shoot film. I am trying to learn more about video so I can video my grandkids. I can only take small photography jobs because I am handicapped and can only stand for about two hours maximum a day. I photograph dogs , vintage racing and car shows.

Photography dad here! Got an XS10 (looking to add XS20 soon) and Fuji 33 1.4 largely thanks to you. For what it's worth, I recently purged my hundreds of KZbin subscriptions and kept yours b/c I find a ton of value here and love that it's not all gear. At a certain point we don't need more gear reviews. People can read specs. The why and the how of our photography are more important than the specs of a camera. Way to go Reggie, trust your gut!

I see your point and I’ll be here supporting your channel anyway because reviews about gear anyone can do but sharing knowledge is a complete different level and your are very good on that so, I would be here if you would be switching to any other content I love because it takes courage to go against the trends and get out of your comfort zone. I use to say if I want comfort I would sell mattress, just go ahead and follow your heart. I can see by those comments that all your followers support your decision. And if for some reason in the future you change your decision, there is only one thing in life that cannot be changed, the regret of not trying. It may be hard but it will worth it. I'd consider this though: gear can be a like a door to photography more generally. My favorite kind of videos to watch in 2024 was ”Using camera X and lens Y on this street photography / trip / portrait shoot / vacation / whatever”. It's not about bragging about gear, but someone having similar gear to mine can be something to relate to. Yeah, I know I won't get the same results since I'm not that photographer, but still it's kinda interesting. And here's the funny thing: outside the title, sometimes these videos aren't even that focused on gear at all, they're focused on the photography. So making videos in that vein I think maybe you could get some of the advantages of mentioning gear (popularity wise) while actually focusing on photography. Ultimately even when viewing your gear related videos, what really made them thing was *your photography*! In either case, make the kind of videos you want! ☺

The topic of chasing new cameras or lenses is over. I already had a small camera that I really liked, xe2s and xf27 & xc16-50. My photography theme is limited to documenting family and friends. Trying to appreciate life as it is with them. Topics outside of cameras and lenses will make this channel even more interesting, such as tips on everyday photography and also consider simple DIY projects related to photography.

I’m still here - photography does nothing have to do with equipment. If someone cannot take good pictures - it is mostly because of the missing knowledge on how to do it. And some are too lazy to go out and take their camera with them.
