Absolutely. I have been thinking about a Bosch for hopefully my last heatpump. These kind of things (how Bosch handles it) will make the difference in paying top dollar for it. And it stinks that now you have to pay for a warranty on something this expensive. I actually purchased a spare X13 fan motor for my unit and capacitor and contactor that is still under parts warranty because it will be much cheaper for me to do it myself than to pay labor (with warranty on the parts) only. Plus, I won't have to wait a week or more in the middle of the summer in the south. We all know that is when heat pumps love to break.

I had to do this about a year ago on the 3-5 ton Bosch package unit, as far as I know at the time it was the first time it being done at least in bosch's records, so much so they had no info on how to do it after we got out there and took half the unit apart, after finally sitting on the phone with tech support we were told to put it back together and they were warranting the entire unit, luckily haven't had to do it since so don't know if they made a fix, as far as I know they make a contraption for the one you're working on, best of luck to you man lol!!

The equipment I sell has a factory labor warranty, not a 3rd party warranty company. They only offer 10 years, and they run from 350-500. It's built into every quote I do. The customer just sees a bottom line price, and the labor warranty is included, so they have no worries like this situation.

My company does Bosch system. The 1.0 air handler always leak but 2.0 hasn’t had any problem. They redid the coils on the BUT the package unit we don’t install due to them having problems with leaking coils. They haven’t fixed that issue on them yet.

my experience with those wireless outdoor sensors is once they put in alkaline batteries they tend to keep draining faster after they used alkaline batteries.

Bosch M15 unitary have a chronic issue with boards being bad: Error code E6, but the condensor fan motor is fine, it's the board. Also, I have installed 2 of the Bosch Multi-zone units and 1 of them had a bad board. No issues so far with any of the M18 or M20 units. I really like the products so I'm hoping Bosch gets it right with the next gen stuff.

when I bought my new house the A/C units didn't get the 10year labor. Apparently you can buy it up to the first year and add on. But the mechanical contractor that put it in never called me to try to sell it or let me know. I bet they would get like 50% of the warranty sale cost and I would have bought it. Being in FL we rely on our A/Cs. They run pretty much year round. And both of the units needed major repairs that I ended up paying labor for. On most product, extended warrantees are a joke, but adding the labor warranty to A/C units is something I will always do.

Replaced one a year ago. It’s not too bad, it ain’t fun either. Take all the screws out to loosen top and take a jack and jack up the side where you found leak. Lift it up enough just to clear and slide out. It sure beat completely disassembling the unit!!

I was at the supplier the other day talking to another company owner who went all in on selling Bosch equipments. He said the coils are leaking like crazy within 3 years. He regrets ever messing with them. I hope you didnt do the same thing he did. Always let the new technology "soak" in the industry before selling them. With all that said a lot of companies are having problems with leaking coils.

Offering 10 year labor warranty is nice the only difference is they pay extra for that 10 year labor up front No different than if someone pays extra for a extended labor warranty up front and then they don’t have any issues with it that justify the extra cost It can be a toss up either way In my experience it’s better to lay out all the options and let the customer decide what they want or don’t want That way when 2 years pass and it needs $1k+ labor for a repair it’s in their court.. they either chose to get the warranty or they didn’t and they pay. I had this exact scenario happen with a customer and that’s when I decided every customer gets to choose their own fate.. warranty or no warranty.. Tis the question

Have had good luck on their split units... only a couple of Pressure transducer fails... which tripped an H5 code (low pressure lock out) sucks but fairly easy to diagnose, hopefully we dont run into anymore

Just did one of these bad boys today. Three year old five ton. New evap coil along with compressor. Company servicing unit prior to us just added dye and seal for the last couple of years. What a nightmare. Homeowner had to come out of pocket for this. They opted out of the ten year labor warranty.

I had an American standard 14.3 seer heat pump compressor fail two months after install last summer. Had to go buy customer a portable cooling unit to get them by two weeks waiting on three more American standard heat pumps!!! Two dented badly from forklift drivers setting too many on top of thinner metal tops.

Installed a heat pump - 14 seer American standard two years ago and now the indoor coil has a leak. I’m not happy either! Pure junk from China. Now the distributor sells air Temp, all manufactured in Mexico, except for some heavy package units down in Tennessee. Then selling an inverter side discharge made by Gree - all from China. On top of this Bolshevik, equipment prices have doubled in four years! Our country is going downhill fast. Although we didn’t start off on the right foot with Native Americans and African-Americans in 1607.

Lithium batteries are incredibly expensive. I assume the sensor is not designed correctly. A properly designed sensor board goes into sleep mode to consume very little power and wakes up occasionally to get readings and transmit data.

Why couldn’t Bosch just install a 240 V to 3 V converter in the outdoor unit to power the thermostat. That’s ridiculous that you have to put a set of batteries in an outdoor unit thermostat. That is something you can do, pretty easily too.

If you do a ten year labor warranty, there would still be money out of the customer's pocket. Ten year warranties don't grow on trees. Also, there will be systems that the customer didn't get their expense out of and others where you'll lose. The fairest way of doing it is pay as you go. The customer only has the manufacturer to be dissatisfied with if it's a manufacturing defect. The company that I work for used to offer ten year warranties. We don't offer it anymore, lost our shirts on the deal.

The contractor is also under fire for being the one using that manufacturer and presumably representing them or recommending them. In many cases they have an exclusive and that's all they sell. If the equipment is junk AND the company won't make it right, why TF is the contractor working with them?

Ultimately, the manufacturer is responsible for quality control and making a solid product though to company's reputation will take a hit as well.

Is Bosch trash / no ….is it complicated, yes but so are true full communicating systems. bUT anyone who can breathe can get their hands on Bosch, and in climates where you get lots of humidity or bad trunk season, you need a SUPERB commissioning. How many hvac techs are surfed ? Well by definition at most 5%. Your mileage WILL vary. Great option for dry climates and installed by capable -ie just about average- installer with Bosch experience. Who knows the equipment and has READ THE F’ING MANUAL !. And NB, the significant Bosch price difference has eroded noticeably years. Just sayin

Only Had 1 Compressor Noisy in 40+ Years. --- Evap. coils --- i only Buy & Sell - Adp Evap. Copper tube / aluminum fin Coils. --- Furnaces --- i Buy & Sell Only - Carrier, Trane , or Goodman Furnaces. Rheem Make a Great Furnace - But its burners are Noisy !!!
