Slight correction (not mentioned): just like the EBMM model, the middle position always engages in coil split, meaning you can't access the bridge + neck humbucker sound and it doesn't matter if you use the push-push

Correct, also, it’s not the inner most coils it engages, it’s the outer. JR himself says so in his Sterling Demo from NAMM 2020. The USA models are the exact same.

@@brushot no way bud. I play drop A# but i also play hard with a heavy hand and also play bass so guitar is never hard for me. Its all preference but 27 scale is much better for drop tuning. And 8 string is where multiscale is always required. I hardly use multiscale 7 because it fucks with my leads still haven't got it down

alot of the most memorable songs in metal, the guitar services the vocal track as if the vocals are an important instrument and aspect in the song, sounding lacking in contexts like these without the vocals. It sounds so much planned together to depict a certain image, as opposed to random vocals masking over a good guitar track

Real question. I've been playing off and on for 20 years. I'm known as being talented but only have written and covered on 6 string. During quarantine I purchases a Dean 750x 7 string. I want to learn as much as possible but I'm curious on what is the most common tuning to use. Which is best for writing in a new band. I'd like to easily cover songs for now to get the feel and sound down.

Drop A is pretty common, and you still have your first 6 strings in standard tuning if that's what you like!

Had a JP70 Sterling with a Juggernaut in the bridge... was ok but the bridge was horrible. Frets were rough. 25.5 scale was hard to get good low tunings. Good for standard B though I guess. I then sold that and got an Agile Legacy 727. The Agile was better in every way. Not perfect. Upgraded the stock pickups with Titans and it's a beast. 27" scale ftw, but this Sterling model looks sick. I wouldn't mind it in a 6 string version as long as the bridge is better than that jp70 I owned.

I have a JP60 and the bridge is just fine in terms of tuning stability. If that was the problem it was probably the nut that was causing issues

Yeah I agree, I think anything from the Korean factory feels better than most of the Indonesian stuff tbh. The Sterlings and the Ibanez in that range felt cheapishly light, and rough frets. I do prefer the 25.5 but I only tune Drop A the lowest and anything beyond that would get funky.

ive got a jp70 with titan 7 pickups and i have it in drop G# and its pretty badass. in my opinion. the strings were binding in the nut when i got it, soni filed it a tad bit and now it holds tune with headvy trem use no problem at all.

Seems like someone hasn’t played one. They are worth it. EBMM doesn’t want to make a guitar that isn’t incredible. They make mid priced instruments that are better than many other brands high end

They're about the same price as the Ibanez non Prestiges and about the same quality, I would agree though, $1k is touching the high end Schecters that have better specs imo and approaching Kiesel prices. I can't see how these and the JPs are over $1k seeing as the hardware and pickups aren't as good as the Ibanez/LTD/etc in the same price range tbh.

Sterlings suck tho, very bad electronics, hardware and fretwork from my experience. For this price you can get a prestige or nice LTD or something.

I think it depends, Prestige is another price bracket unless you get used (you should) but I really like my Sterling Ray35 bass. I tried a used JP7 and it played well but I'm not sure if there was work done to it. The Sterlings I tried at GC in the $400-500 range felt meh but the higher end ones did feel nicer.
