There are many painters, singers and performers around this sorry world of ours. But there are very few ARTists, ARTists are people who are able to convey and evoke real feelings and meanings through their medium- be it song or otherwise. This "art" can be summarized in one simple, yet complicated word; "soul". Mr. Cash is one of those artists who, for lack of better words, could make you feel connected to him personally. It's a skill I'm intrigued by, as it so rarely surfaces anymore. Maybe it's because our modern world has become more superficial, maybe it's because we simply don't seek to be connected in the same way because it leaves is exposed and vulnerable. It's all very sad to me.

People thinking the lyrics are strange or somehow related to pedophilia need to educate themselves. The song was written by Bruce Springsteen an American, in American culture it is not that uncommon for the word 'daddy' to be used in reference to a male sexual partner, see www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=daddy It's not difficult people, try to keep up.

I remember having a conversation about this song in about 1984. My roommate, who was from Chicago, and his girlfriend were discussing the whole 'little girl' and Daddy thing. She was from the Mid East. It had never occurred to me that there was anything questionable about the use of the words 'daddy' or 'little girl'. Hell, I'm 54 years old, and my ex loved it when I called her my Baby Girl. It's a cultural thing; it's linguistics. Get over it.

I see all the hard work you do at work and all the stress you face on a daily bases. (Family, your grieving wife, work, anxiety, depression, Louis...) Keep going! You can do this! I wish you every happiness and I'm proud of you! You're so fucking cute and have such a beautiful soul. I'm so sorry for not being there for you! I'll always regret it. I see how much youve been working on yourself and how much better at handling stress you have been. I appriecate everything you do! I've always wanted to give you a hug, especially on the days that looked the toughest on you. Its funny, I kinda feel the opposite way but for the same reasons. I feel like the original is a much sadder, lonelier song. We know Johnny got to be with the one he loved and I feel like his love for June is really evident in a lot of his music. When Bruce sings it it feels like he’s singing about something that’s just out of reach, like a dream you know won’t come true but you can’t stop thinking about it. I dunno maybe that’s just me
