Hello. 1st time viewer. I’m listening to what you are saying about considering your customers the competition. I believe what you are describing is finding your target audience and understanding their habits. You are also referencing finding your niche. Which is pretty much finding something specific about your candles that will fulfill the needs of your target audience. Respectfully submitted.

Yes, exactly! It's about understanding what your customers want and figuring out how to give them that. What other people are doing isn’t anything more than entertainment

The best channel to watch is Monica Razak. She is a sweetheart and she is doing the Bryant Park Holiday market and she gives so many tips on KZbin. She also connects with a lot of small business owners. Also I found you on my home page so KZbin pushing you out to the algo yay!

Omg! I was going to suggest having one of those vans or small trucks where you can sell your products at different locations. Doesn't have to be anything fancy in the beginning (you can always invest in improvements) and you can drive around this big city. There is another candle company in the city that currently does that but I can't remember their name. I saw them out in Brooklyn earlier this year and I thought that it was such a great idea. MBur on Wheels!!! 😊

Glad you’re feeling the idea! Driving around the city and bringing the candles to different neighborhoods sounds like the perfect way to connect with more people.

Can we talk about vendor fees and alternatives to growing our business please and how you guys were able to make corporate connections? because right now I feel the exact same way even though I’m in a totally different market selling herbal pain relief products I feel very much that what you’re saying is relevant to my life currently!!

It’s getting out of a control. Everything is a money grab. Making booths smaller, trying to cram as many people in, lack of marketing. The list goes on and on Outrageous prices. Taking a percentage of sales 💀💀 it’s exhausting

I really feel like you guys should make a membership on here or a Patreon or something so we can talk candidly and collaborate and figure out how to build our businesses without falling prey to building other businesses’ profits before our own. I live in the suburbs so I am not sure setting up tables on the sidewalk is allowed but I’m not above it!

As a person who also does some of the markets {NYC} its definitely a hustle for the organizers. I also feel like too many events are happening so ya gotta be selective. The corporate route is smart. As someone who also sets up in the street ALWAYS have 5s & 10s. At minimum $100 in change. Next time stop at the Chase bank up the street on 16th street.😃
@mburcandleco
@mburcandleco 20 сағат бұрын
Couldn’t agree more! NYC markets are no joke, and picking the right ones makes all the difference because the vast majority are someone trying to finesse people. Corporate gigs have definitely been working out for us too. Yea I gotta start bringing out change. I used to and then magically people stopped using cash. I don’t think I’ve met anyone on KZbin who sells outside in New York. I respect the hustle 🫡 What do you sell?
@frmtheBkstore
@frmtheBkstore 18 сағат бұрын
@mburcandleco I don't really like selling on the street since it's technically illegal for us & we can get a ticket. Only artists, book sellers, & those with a license won't be ticketed. I sell jewelry & other things I get from my travels. I try to sell @ summer street events that I pay for. Even some of the paid street events you have to be selective. If I see ya'll out in the street, I'll ya'll a shout.

Wow I got hit hard at 3:02 I started my video journey the ned of this year and it was to just document and share. My dad passed 15 years ago in feb. We also have the old home videos we need to convert. Funny to hear about the price as I look at re adjusting mine for the new year. Also yes on the customers, in tech we call this user research and it is vital to building the product. A great way to also learn about them is to send them emails to provide feedback or take a survey and add a small incentive.
@mburcandleco
@mburcandleco 4 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing this! Those home videos must hold so many precious memories. Converting them sounds like a meaningful project and a beautiful way to honor your dad. I completely agree about user research. It’s such a powerful tool to understand and connect with customers better because who is more important than them. Sending surveys or emails with incentives is such a smart idea too! Best of luck with readjusting your pricing and continuing your video journey. I’m sure great things are ahead for you! Im gonna check out your channel I see you’re doing NYC markets as well

Yall could use the bubble wrap to cushion the candles when you sell them outside..then just use a little white paper to disguise the bubble wrap.

Just finding your business 👋🏽 love to connect with other small businesses.. Question, these were corporate events and not traditional markets? How did you find these? Also I've done a few large/popular markets and its been hit or miss it truly depends but over all I think its been great exposure for my business.. Much success to you all 💚
@mburcandleco
@mburcandleco 3 күн бұрын
I absolutely agree markets can be hit or miss, but they’re great for getting your name out there and making connections. The issue I have with markets is most of the time when you break down the numbers they don’t make sense. When you count inventory, hired labor , personal labor, transportation, food and misc. it’s not really sustainable. And the ones that make the MOST sense aren’t frequent enough. Yeah, these were corporate events rather than traditional markets. We’ve found that reaching out directly to companies or networking at pop markets is incredibly helpful. Some of the opportunities also came through word of mouth and referrals, so building relationships has been key. Wishing you much success with your business as well! Let’s definitely stay connected I love supporting and learning from other small businesses!

Okay guys I'm trying to be a good sub, but 11 minutes in and 4 sets of commercials the last one I didn't let it run. Yes, I AGREE with your pricing method!! I'm almost 30 minutes in and you guys are going to make it because you are hustling. I'm still here guys and letting those com. play!!! I took a break and I come back and wix studio commercial is 11 minutes long so I figure why stop it now it's almost over. Okay guys I watch 100% of the video!!

@ yes I have done some and some were really good and my last one the traffic was so bad I was lost money over all on the show. I did better than most there 2/3 of the people didn’t even make the cost of the booth back. I did make that. But also my goal was to promote my new store location

So you're just gonna not pay your storage bill for six months hoping you can redeem it? taking money from that business owner and family? The face that you plan that as part of your strategy is really sketch, shady, Everything you do like this is going to come back on you. Shameful and ghetto.
