Day 13 out of 2 MONTHS! We are attempting the LONGEST JOURNEY BY TOY CAR. We have to drive toy cars from Jacksonville FL to Key West. This will take two months of driving a toy car every single day! Every time they have an issue - blocked/narrow/rough/closed/disappearing/non-existent sidewalks, lack of curb cuts, tiny elevators, ramps that aren't fit for purpose - I think about what means for everyone with mobility needs. Love that they talked about it specifically in this vlog!

Lauren, thank you so much for bringing awareness to inaccessible sidewalks. It's not only a problem for wheelchair users but also a problem for cane users like myself. I've been told it's something you can complain to the city about but I doubt they would actually take care of it. I really hope you get the new tire parts soon and are able to fix the tire. I hope you both have a safe journey. You are doing amazing!

Exactly 11 minutes into the video. This video makes the point that American infrastructure generally sucks for those not using a road-legal car (talking bike, wheelchair, etc). There certainly are the parts that are good, but my goodness so much of it is quite rough. And I know from biking in my area how bad it is. Sadly, it's not just Daytona in this case, its most of the country... its just some like Daytona are that much worse when it comes to being people/pedestrian friendly.

Also, a good idea for when things get weird for towing .. it might be a good idea to get a single pair of leather work gloves and a tie down strap. It'll hurt a lot less and no tape necessary.

Get a soft tape measure to measure the elevators. A flexible tape measure, like the kind a tailor uses, would be so much easier and more efficient than wheeling a car in to check.

Hi! I follow you both on IG and here on KZbin. WOW! Y'all are amazing! I love your adventures! I live on Miami Beach and can't wait for you both to make it to my beloved city! Make sure to have lunch at Joe's Stone Crab here on Miami Beach. It's 111 years old and the oldest restaurant from Orlando to Key West. BTW, have you figured out the route from Miami to Homestead yet? Once you leave Miami Beach to go to Miami, it's very easy, but from Miami to Homestead is a little tricky. There are no roads skimming along the shore from Miami to Homestead. You have just 2 options. Old Cutler Road which is quite scenic but doesn't have a sidewalk but here and there so that means driving on the shoulder but it's scary with the people speeding in their cars. The 2nd option is just driving down S Dixie Hwy (US1) from Miami to Homestead. BTW if you do take the S Dixie Hwy route, they are doing some major construction work on the bicycle path around the Coconut Grove area. Its the only sidewalk on that part of US1. Right now, that part is closed. The construction part is from SW 3rd Ave to SW 27th Ave.

Your problem with Daytona is you’re on peninsula Dr. You should have stayed on AIA. You need to not blindly trust the gps. If it’s asking you to get off the main route take a minute and look at the gps to see if it’s right. Some gps systems have options for Walking/biking and driving.

It’s probably really heavy and awkward to do that type of thing is why they would rather it fit. Also they would have to take everything out of the car then flip the car then put everything in the room then move the car. After as long as they’ve been driving every day I know I wouldn’t want to do that.
