I'm so sorry, it's the end.

Well guys this is the end of me and Buddy. He has been sold to a lovely lady and is leaving us on Saturday.
Please do not tell me this was the wrong decision, that I shouldn't have done this, because I can't change it now and I don't want to. I love this horse more than life itself and I've worked with him for months and months and months, and we've finally reached our peak.
We can't go any further, mainly down to his issue with stopping randomly at jumps at shows, which is now spreading to jumps at home. It's unpredictable and not right. His back is fine, so are his teeth and everything else. The day I decided to sell him was the worst of it.
I went to have my lesson and miles set up bounce jumps and buds was unwilling from the start, then chucked me which is at 1:20 and refused about 6 times after that.
So this video is all the worst and the best times we've had. I will never forget my time with this horse and he has taught me so much it is unbelievable but it's time for him to teach somebody else.
There was meant to be a quote saying "difficult times lie ahead. soon we must all face the choice between what is right and was is easy." might put that in another video like this, as there will be a couple more, with the happier times.

A few days ago, I lost my horse too, Dandy. He was near around the age of 30, so I knew he didn't have time left. His back legs failed, before we put him down. We saved him from an owner who wasn't looking after him, she wasn't feeding him at all do we had to look after him, rescue him. There's one thing that makes the pain go away for me. I knew that I tried all I could to save him, and that I was with him for his final minutes and he was in no pain anymore.

I have no doubts that he is very happy in his current home, but I still don't think it was right to sell him. The feeling of success is far greater if you accomplish something with a horse you've worked from the bottom with, than a horse some one else has already worked on.

My story is very similar to yours. I understand how you feel. But at least you know where he is going. My mare that I had I sold to a lovely family in Florida and they sold her to a little girl. I have know idea where she is and she is thousands of miles away. I miss her like crazy and it's been almost a year without her and I still think about her everyday.

Four years later and people are still commenting on this. Thank you to all the people who have been kind over the years and have stood up for me and my decision. To those who still wish to criticise: firstly, this video is nearly 4 years old so maybe it is time to move on... and secondly, it is not your place to comment on my choice at all. Charlie, you have nothing to be upset about. If the woman Buddy has gone to is going to look after him, then you've done right by him. Also, if she is more experienced, it might be possible for Buddy's tendency to refuse to be alleviated. If you've got another horse, then good luck for the future.

It hurts a lot when you have to sell your horse. I had to sell a beautiful Knabstrupper, I had him even before I could ride. Just at three years old, we went through a lot of fun times, he was chestnut and white, his mane also, was chestnut. We did show jumping, and a lot of it, when you were chucked, it reminded me when Nikalus chucked me. I left the show with my right elbow broken and my left arm fractured. It was very scary at first, but I still got on him as soon as I could. When you have to sell a horse, it leaved a gaping hole in your heart, that only he/she can fill. I miss Nikalus so much, he chucked me a few times, but it never stopped me. I can relate to how much it hurts when you leave a horse. I just wish when he chucked me at that show, it wasn't such a high jump, I wouldn't have broken any bones or fractured, but when I tried catching myself, I landed wrong and that's how it happened. I have a scar on my back from hitting the post, a large scratch, but. If the jump wasn't so high, I would've been able to ride him. It really hurts when you leave a horse, I can relate, even after the worst times, you still love them and always will.

I believe in the choice you made. not every horse can be a champion and every horse has its limit.. he will now go to a lady that will ride him & love him just as much as you did. for some horses jumping is there thrill others they enjoy to do flat work and excel at it :) you're a strong person to do the right thing :)

Everyone says she should've kept him, but then he would have to keep jumping, which is what he does not want to do.
