Hi Mark, Those clay ruine building you mentioned were mostly Motels on the way at old times. We call them "Karevan sara". Some of them used to be castel or military camp, and some of them were kind of city's periphery walls. I'm glad to see you are happy in Iran and see the truth face of Iranian people. Stay safe. Yes, was also my thoughts. All along the old caravan tracks every 50 km or so. Secure rest places for the traders with their pack animals. In our days (at least some decades back) this gave also the name to a chain of camp grounds in Turkey. It would be very nice if the ruines would be preserved. Perhaps one day they are even again needed as rest places along the trade routes. Save journey to Marc!

When Freddie Dobbs was having issues for months getting a gasket for his Triumph they seemingly didn't do much (I was going to buy the same Triumph as him but opted out). I think when Marc started traveling with Eve (his UK trip), Zero was just about to introduce the DSR/X but they hadn't yet. And given the new models for 2024, they certainly didn't want to offer him the 2nd generation S/DS models as they must have had the phase out in the planning stage. Unfortunately, where he is going has no Zero dealers, so he won't have any possibilities of support either. Let alone a place to trade in his SR/F for a new 2024 DS, DSR or DSR/X.

Hey Marc, Eric here from Ontario, CANADA. I watch a lot of travel videos and yours came up on my KZbin feed. I love the deserts of Australia and anyplace like that. Watching the landscape as you go through Iran, Pakistan etc is just stunning. What a huge land with so much to see and explore. Just too bad the leaders of the Middle East couldn't watch your videos, then take a ride on an electric bike and see all that beauty, and just how people really enjoy all those simple things in life, cause that's what makes life so enjoyable. Maybe then and only then...would they see the futility of war with all the death and destruction they are causing. They are ruining our planet in so many ways yes? I mean bombing so many innocent people by the thousands, and destroying ancient architecture, homes, shopping malls, schools and hospitals. I mean...what are they thinking? Why not take up a hobby like photography or riding an electric/motor bike. Hard to understand all the hate and they accomplish nothing with all their destruction. I mean...who's going to clean up all those flattened areas of GAZA? It would take decades. It's just insane. Politics and nationalism are like a poison that has caused innocent people by the millions to suffer. What a mess. Anyways mate, it's been an absolute pleasure to see the beautiful landscape of Iran through your eyes. And not too mention, I've learned a lot about just what those new electric bikes can do, and all the planning that goes into making sure you are charged up for the next day. Bereite dich darauf vor das die Polizeibegleitung in Pakistan stressig wird, alle 20 Kilometer ist Wechsel deiner Begleiter. Dann wird immer erstmal ein Tee getrunken und es kann dauern. Setz dich nach 15 Minuten einfach auf dein Bike und fahr weiter, die kommen dann hinterher. Sonst dauert die Tour 5 Tage mit denen.

Be aware that for U.S. companies and U.S. citizens it is a felony to do business with sanctioned countries. Zero and their representatives will get in a huge lot of trouble if they do anything connected with Iran (and North Corea, Sudan and a few other states). According to U.S. trade laws it is not allowed to bring U.S. technology to these states. When bringing a Zero into Iran without governmental permission you also might furthermore refrain from entering the U.S. ever again.

Hey Marc, I hope your doing great and your learning as you're going along. I've done 150,000kms in East Africa on two wheels and I'm not sure if motorists will get used to such a silent bike when used in dense traffic, people don't check their side mirrors before turning left or right, they open doors to get out without looking what's coming behind, so as you get close to Asia just stay focus on what could happen in a very dense traffic area like India or anywhere, just be careful, take care now!

Great vid, as always 👍 Also, top tip (again!), when plugging the bike in, it's better to put the bike charger in first, then the wall socket. Why? Because, if you do get an electrical arch, it's on the wall plug, which is easier and cheaper to replace, than the Mennekes (type 2) plug 👍👍

J-1772 charging standard requires that the terminals be unpowered until the Proximity pin is connected. The EVSE has contactors in it that make/break the connection to the grid. So it doesn't matter which order you plug things in.

I friend of mine has HD with belt. It has 120000 km on the original belt. Yes, it is true. I got the zeros right and he owns it since new. The secret is to keep the tension on the slack side. People are afraid to do that.

Not sure if they make one and I know your “baggage” has limited space, but you might research for a gear puller for your pulley. If it happens again, you’ll be able to purchase locally. Or, use a blow torch again 😊.

Don't expect anything from any manufacturer, especially from US. They have another focus - unfortunately. I was disappointed about the ignorance, too. Just be happy if you get something but expect nothing from anyone. Do your thing like you want it to do. A lesson I learned running our magazine the last 13 years at my own ;-)
