As a white gay man, I can totally say I 100% agree with you. The desperation to integrate diversity and inclusion everywhere missed the mark: True diversity. Like you said, everything is related to stereotypes. Personality is not part of the diversity, which is actually the thing that makes us the most unique. You can have 2 identical twins that have nothing visually different and have no health issues. One can be an outgoing extrovert that loves to be around people and party all night. The other can be shy and nerdy, having fun by playing video games all night. Give me exactly this and I am happy about it. Not even the characters that are created fit the actual reality. We have a sub-culture called "anon" where you have sex with other people without seeing their face or knowing their name. I have been single my whole life because gay men are being bullied so much that is hard for them to connect with other people on a deep enough level. 95% of us are either in a toxic relationship, hooking up left and right with no intention of catching feelings or so broken that we can't build a relationship even if we try. Split is another great example. They portraited a DID patient as a lunatic that murders people on sight and loves to torture their victims. This is not true! DID is the worst form of PTSD. Victims of abuse so severe that caused DID are more likely to be a victim than anything else. Their multiple personalities is caused by amnesia. It's the brain's way to cope with the trauma and have that person be functional in our society. And yes, I saw many people get accepted to work for companies on certain positions where another candidate was way better and cheaper. Why? Because they are either nonbinary, black, asian, gay, a woman, trans or anything like that. This is disgusting. I don't want to be hired just because I am gay. I want to know that I am hired because I deserve it, not because I was born in a certain way or a have certain preference about something.

You think you wouldn’t have bias about race or gender, but that’s the “unintentional” part of “unintentional bias.” The Boston Symphony once realized they weren’t hiring women. So, they went to simply having blind auditions. But they still didn’t end up hiring more women. But, how? Where could the bias come from? Then, someone had the bright idea to make applicants remove their shoes for their audition. Once they couldn’t hear high heels walking on the floor, boom! Way more women hired. Even people who don’t want to be biased can be unconsciously and unintentionally biased. Equity based algorithms could probably solve that better and faster than humans. Especially on the scale of more than gender alone. Just looking at the idea scientifically instead of just how it makes me feel. I get why it’s repulsive on its face. But people are built to group with others like themselves and exclude differences. If we want to stop acting that way, we do have to actively address the issue. Can’t just say “hire the best” and pretend you have no bias. You do. Whether you want to admit that or not.

as a card carrying member of the letter gang i think an insane example of how to do this shit and not make it orwellian is take a page from fallout nv the game has 2 locked gay romance npcs being veronica for female player characters and arcade gannon for male player characters and at the time josh sawyer had to argue for his inclusion (arcade gannon) as he was just a custom tabletop character he decided to make an optional gay romance npc. which kind of makes him anomalous in gaming most male rpg characters are written to be atleast bi if theyre even romancable by a male player character (granted i havent played bg3 and that shits full of fruity ass npcs which is good if theyre written well) but larian and other studios have shown they can do it naturally without some sort of tekken stat pyramid to min max blue hair prius owner interaction.

DIE is forced diversity. We used to just have diversity. Nobody cared that Ripley was a woman back in the day because she was well written. Same with Sarah Connor. Nobody cared that she became a badass because it was earned, it was good writing.
