Kansas City does have a bunch of limestone tunnels. The largest network is called Sub-tropolis and has storage and businesses that need tight temp controls which the tunnels only vary by 5-10 degrees. And it is large enough it has a 2 lane road that extends 10+ miles that can handle semi trucks, and has a railroad.

18:00 Again, you're killing it!! After watching tons of reactors, you are, again, the only one to mention Ellie closing her eyes/praying!! My heart broke for Ellie in this scene (and Bella KILLED IT this whole episode, but this scene, and her reaction to Henry shooting Sam, then himself...that little wail/groan, and the tears...it was utterly heartbreaking, and some of the absolute best acting I've seen in ages...that girl is gonna go far!). She bonded with Sam so hard, and all she wants in that moment, more than anything, is to help her friend. I can practically hear the prayer 'God, please let this work, let all this be worth it'. This was, hands down, one of the best episodes of TV I've seen in years. I dont know if the show can keep up this level of amazeballs, but I sure hope so. And, again, I'm loving y'all's reactions, but even more, your analysis afterwards. Very insightful, and on point. Wish I was in a financial position to help support you on Patreon. You definitely deserve all the kudos. Not in the cards right now though. I'll keep Liking and Sharing though. Looking forward to great things from y'all.

Thank you! It means so much to us that you like what we're doing, and you liking and sharing makes all the difference ❤ This episode Bella gave a STAND OUT performance - I mean wow - I totally agree with you, she's gonna go far. The prayer scene was something so subtle but moved me so much - I wonder if that was Bella's choice to add into the scene or if it was suggested in the script. 🤔 Either way, it was great. Thank you for the comment and we can't wait to see how you like the next episode!

The actress who play Kathleen also plays one of the main characters in Yellowjackets. She's amazing on both shows.

The contortionist who played the child clicker is named Skye Belle Cowton. Keivonn Woodard plays Sam and Lamar Johnson plays Henry. The whole crew learned asl to communicate with Keivonn. 😊 I love the representation in this game - it incorporates it in a way that is natural and isn’t forced. It’s just another characteristic of the characters as they go through this apocalypse scenario. I “bought” all the protagonists but I’m not sure I “bought” Kathleen. She seemed the most one dimensional and the scenes she was in seemed the most “movie magic” and convenient but I suppose that wasn’t the point anyway, the point was the progression of our main protagonists going through the scene but it just didn’t seem to be as carefully written as the rest. I get why they’re doing it, as a foreshadow to what’s coming in part two, but I’m just not sure the payoff was there. It just needed another pass through with a fine tooth comb to work out the kinks I think. But the rest of the show is SO GOOD it’s nowhere near a dealbreaker! 😁 P.S. Joel says it’s easy for kids cause they don’t have anyone depending on them but then right after he sees Ellie feels like humanity is depending on her.

Thank you so much for the comment! And I totally agree. Melanie Lynskey, who played Kathleen I feel might’ve actually been too sweet in real life to play the character. I didn’t believe her performance, which made the things she said feel like lines that took me out of the story and killed my immersion. I haven’t played the second game yet, so I’m not sure what it might be foreshadowing (no spoilers) but I feel even though her story wasn’t the focus, I wish it could have risen to the level of acting and writing that they’ve already established in every other character. I'm with you, definitely not a dealbreaker though. Also, yess - there was a moment at the end of the episode where you can watch Ellie take on the responsibility of humanity and the guilt of not having saved it already - it was heartbreaking to watch. Bella Ramsey never ceases to amaze me.

I'm with your summary at the end. Everything you say I see exactly the same and I have already written somewhere else. You are the first where I can save myself the writing on these points. There was also a little joke about the game. The moment when the sniper shot and Henry and Sam senselessly ran out of cover, only to return immediately. This is how Ellie behaved very often in the game. She ran out of cover, right in front of the enemy and then back again. Or it should portray the place in the game where Henry and Sam both leave Joel and Ellie behind to save their own ass. Of course, Kathleen kills traitors. This is not the point that makes her particularly malicious. That's what you do with traitors. The people who betray their own people are worse than the enemy himself. You see the enemy coming, traitors shoot you in the back. And you have to assume, if you let them live, that they will do it again at any time. In the history of all revolutions, very few have ended bloodlessly, and very few have left their enemies alive after their victory. They were lynched. So nothing happens here that hasn't happened 1000 times before. In addition, there are no more laws. The only thing Kathleen does differently here is that her focus is exclusively on revenge on Henry and unfortunately at the expense of everyone else in her group. She was a good leader for the revolution, but when that was done, someone else would have had to take over. In the end, unfortunately, she was right. You cannot deceive fate. Henry sold all his people and the revolution for medicines, killed a good man and Sam died anyway. This by his own hand. It doesn't get any worse. On the other hand, if Sam hadn't betrayed the leader, the revolution had never come, because the leader lacked the radicalism his sister had. It's just a loose loose situation. Misfortune on all sides, no matter how you spin it. I felt Kathleen's death was fitting. I mean she made it clear beforehand that she didn't care about children and was then killed by a child clicker. An interesting feature of the show so far is that real brutality is only shown to us when Ellie sees it. We see Joel beating the soldier to death in episode 1 because Ellie is there and sees it. Ellie tortures and kills the stalker in episode 3. We see Joel's sniper kills because Ellie sees them. We see Henry's death, Sam being shot and Kathleen's death. With all other killings (Old Sniper, Bryan) you only hear it because the camera is focused on Ellie while she doesn't see these killings herself. Unfortunately, I didn't like 3 little things about the episode because they were outstanding stupid written and therefore out of character. All 3 scenes concern Henry. They enter the tunnel and he senselessly begins to speak louder than his normal volume. The same stupidity then again shortly before the sniper. And he just lets Sam go forward in the tunnel to enter an unsecured room, this kindergarten. That was just inappropriate, because this character is actually clever. I don't know if you played part 2, if not read no further. SPOILERS but with reference to Kathleen. Ellie becomes Kathleen. In principle, she does nothing else than Kathleen. A loved one is taken from her and she goes on a vendetta campaign. All this at the expense of her friends and without considering the consequences or she accepts them approvingly. So if one didn't condemn Ellie for that at the time, maybe one shouldn't do the same with Kathleen.

I felt the same way during the unalive scene when Ellie's reaction and facial expression was in full display.

Just fucking say "suicide" or when he "blew his head off". As someone who's dealt closely with suicide saying "unalive" attempts to minimize and trivialize the reality of what many of us deal with. Life isn't a Disney movie. He fucking killed himself from unimaginable grief, self hatred, and trauma. Say it, don't try to hide it. Real people deal with this shit.

I think Kathleen’s death was, for lack of a better term, epic and poetic. She clearly exhibited a lack of concern for the death of children, and was intent on killing Ellie & Sam. Lo and behold she’s killed by a child. A clicker child, but a child nonetheless!

Thank you so much for pointing out it was a clicker child that killed her - we thought it was a normal infected so I found her death very underwhelming but now I see it was karma in action.
