I was addicted to pornography for four years. I couldn’t spend more than two days without masturbating or watching pornography. I prayed and tried many times to quit but it seemed impossible. I listened to many psychiatrists and psychologist but still nothing. I was stuck, it got to a point that I even told God that if I’m going to go to hell then so be it. After listening to this sermon, I immediately felt some kind of relief and lost all my desire to watch porn instantaneously. I don’t know how it happened but somehow it did. I spent two months without even touching porn. Every time the devil tempted me I just told him that he has no power over me and replied him with scripture, “sin can no longer have dominion over you , for you are no longer under the law but under grace”. I pray that this testimony will encourage someone to know that it is possible to quit porn by the power of God’s grace. To him be the glory.

I can relate to this brother's struggle in spades. I desperately wanted to live out my true born again nature in Christ, but could not break free from the entanglements of sexual sin UNTIL I did this: I got on my knees and poured out my heart and cried out in a sincere prayer to my Father in Heaven confessing all my sexual sins and asked Him to give me obedience and victory in this area. And when I got up off my knees, I clearly sensed something in me changed and I have not returned to that sin since. Unlike anytime before in the past decades of my struggle, I walk in obedience and victory every day in His power, praise the Lord. Another really important change I made is to really commune with the Lord in His Word daily and pray daily individually and with my wife. I also am proactive when I am on the internet to block any potential for inticing videos or pictures. My relationship with the Lord has now reached a significantly deeper intimacy and a practical walking out of holiness and maturity. There is hope, the Lord wants all of His children to be sanctified and Holy in their conduct. He can and will do it. In His kindness and mercy He grants repentance and renews a right spirit.

Our experience is almost the same. I also liked the fact that you called Him "My Father" instead of just God. Because to a person who is indulging constantly in sexual sin, "God" could mean totally different from "Father." To a sexual sinner, God is vague, and could just mean a creator or higher power who hates my guts whenever I sin. But "Father" means totally different, He is like the dad of the prodigal son who ran as fast as he could to embrace his returning son. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.

Thanks for your testimony! I too have cried out and wept and confessed it to the point that i retch. I also feel release from it but after a time i lose the desire to fight it because with me it's continual. I wake up so often at night and i can't sleep because of it, i get so weary of the continual need. I have a good wife but still i struggle and fight. One minister told me that wasn't normal. He said it should get easier but for me it doesn't. Im so discouraged.

@@tonyisaac4578 Brother, the enemy wants us to be discouraged. I wrestle with this sin as well. Your testimony here sounds like mine. Don’t let the words of one preacher get you down, they are men just like you and I are and have different experiences and are just as fallible as we are. Instead let us challenge one another to believe what God says to us about this. When I was saved God instantly removed a lot of my sin and I no longer had any desire for it. This proved his power to me and gave me a deep faith in Him. I still struggle with lust just like you. You’re not alone! God gives us a warning in first Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality. God warns us because He loves us and wants us to be with Him. But He also gives us great encouragement in first Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. And again in in so many other passages like Hebrews 2:18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. I would encourage you to look up the following verses for yourself and I believe they will bless you. First Corinthians 6:18-20 Matthew 26:41 James 1:14-15 God has much to say to you and I and much encouragement to give us. This is a battle that we are fighting in the war for our souls. It’s hard sometimes but we must continue to fight and NEVER give up.

So glad I have attained victory over this, my former most potent sin. At 26 years old I gave up porn completely as I could feel it hardening my heart and damaging my soul. Having been saved at 13 I struggled with it for far too long, but happy to say I’ve been over a year free from its enticement. It elicits the disgust that it deserves any time the temptation is offered by the evil one. I truly didn’t know if I was ever going to see the day, but Christ’s deliverance does not disappoint those who truly repent and die to their own desires so that He can provide us new righteous ones.

I am no longer stuck in sexual sin and it's because Jesus intervened in my situation. I was addicted to masturbation when I was little till I was 18 years old where I felt this electricity current in my body about the fear of dying come into my body. I opened a gateway for the enemy to come in and tried to kill, steal and destroy me. But I believe this fear was to make me believe that sex is now tainted and I was no longer allowed to feel pleasure but the Lord showed me otherwise. The enemy's plan backfired because not only did I stop masturbating but I turned to Jesus who tells me that sex is sacred and reserved for the one guy who God ordains for me to marry.

Jeremy, I'd like to point you to 1 John 5:4, which says, "For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith." So by this biblical definition, VICTORY is our faith or, in other words, keeping faith in the trustworthiness and reliability of God to accomplish what He promises in the Bible. Victory is holding fast to God's promises in the very midst of trials and temptation, regardless of the temporal outcome (i.e. even if it kills us).

I know Christ cares for me because this messages showed up right when I needed it. I was able to battle sexual sin for weeks right until this week. I fell earlier this week and felt so, so distant from God, and then this video pops up. I shall repent, retrospect and fix those things that caused me to fall. More than that I am grateful that even through such a situation, God has shown me how I can better myself and fix those issues that led me to fall. Just remember, flesh will never defeat flesh. Only the Spirit can defeat our flesh. Cry out to the Holy Spirit to give you victory over your lust. You will NEVER fix this problem. It's solely a matter of desires. The moment we sin, our desires are greater than it is for Christ. Ask the Spirit to exalt Christ in your mind and heart every moment! O Lord, increase His desires for You and decrease his desire to sin. May he come to see his lust the way You do! May he rely on your strength alone. May the victory be Yours, not his! If you find yourself commiting sins you don't want to, understand that it is a demon that is playing with your mind, If you think you are the one doing it you are not going to overcome it, You can go to deliverance ministers so that they cast the spirit out, Or you can go on fasting and prayers, and resist that devil and he will flee from you. @@VYMQGSOH But demons are sometimes involved in the tempting process. In 1 Thess 3:5 calls Satan 'the tempter', and if Satan is this, it makes sense to think that the demons under his authority tempt us.

@@maxaplin4204 right, but we can only be tempted by the things we’re already desiring (James 1:14). So demon or not, sexual desires are present. Satan can’t make you do anything. You can defy the tempter when tempted, but you can not blame him when you give in. Flee sexual temptation. It’s the only sin we’re told to flee from, not resist.

@@Duby4life Yes, I would see any demonic involvement in temptation as using desires that are already there, and sexual desires are certainly going to remain. And I agree that Satan can't make us do anything. Actually, there are other sins we are told to flee from. 1 Cor 10:14 tells us to flee from idolatry and 1 Tim 6:11 tells us to flee from the love of money. But yes, we should take steps to avoid sexual temptation, and other temptations too, as far as is reasonably possible.

Thank you, Pastor John. I really needed to hear this. I'm getting rid of my PC that I use for gaming and heavier work loads because I know it is such an easy avenue for pornography. Is it harder to do my workload on my MacBook? Yes. But I'm far less likely to go down the paths of sin on it for some reason. I know you get a lot of these questions regarding sexual sin, but thank you for continuing to address them. As simple as these strategies are, sometimes it's hard to devise them when someone is neck deep in that sin; so hearing them from you Pastor John is a big help! Cutting off the source is the first thing you must do. If that means deactivating and account, or blocking apps, or even simply using a flip phone rather than a cell. Do what it takes to break the habit, then allow yourself to use certain things once you have overcome an addiction.

Been in this battle myself for ages. Some ppl don't see this life as a battle. We are in a spiritual war. And becoming a Christian moves us up to the front lines. This is what I feel like when I just go lackadaisical through life and not fighting. The way to fight this is to keep your gaze focused on Him. Demons behind this are smarter than me. By like 10x. I'm here playing checkers and they are doing 8D chess. So don't have the pride to think you can fight and win this in your own power. But constantly strive to have the only voice in your head be that of the triune God. By constant prayer and reading His word. Thats the key to victory. Also ask some Christian brothers to have you in prayer. Call them when the battle gets rough. This feels like seeing a Christian brother getting kicked while he's down by the enemy and not wanting to get back up. We don't battle against flesh and blood my guy. I'll say a prayer for you.

I have a fetish and the foot fetish skipped exact over to this being a dog, from just a simple fetish I obtained from the age of 6/7 I did the act already from young age when I was 8/9 years old. 23 years later I dd the act again. this is like a kryptonite in the body, cause I dont necessarily desire sex, yes sometime but thats easy to lay off, but the fetish, nah its too much, cant even be on public transport, and have mercy when its summer, wanting to stay home as long as possible... this kryptite is eating me up and me too I want to give up since I dont see the point anymore

Love drives out lust, as soon as I see people I know especially the children gving you a hug and enjoying your presence, then every single thought of lust I had just..melts like snow or something its like its power completely dissolves. But as soon when I'm alone again, tired then I do stupid stuff either mastrubating or actually going again to that woman to release my stress of the fetish, yes then I'm low again and back to the circle. Back in the days when I was around 16 years old, I was always afraid to be honest about things like this, but now I fully acknoweldge I have a big problem a foot fetish, and I have difficulties laying it down because the feeling feels too nice inside the body, the longer I ignore, the bigger the urge becomes, and If I didnt do anything that day, doesnt matter the urge is there for you the next day, and if not the next day, the day after that day, waiting for you to relapse, either by mastrubation or visiting the woman one way or another... at this point I relapse almost everyday, there was a time tough where I could go for months this is something from the past year, something happend in that year, I never relapse almost everyday before now I think about it.... either way I'm ashamed, and sometimes I think about why the lord chose me back in the days *knowingly* I would have ths fetish because he guided me in life....but when I look back, as I was guided that fetish *never* went away... Why?!!..... why I have to suffer for this dammit!!

@@Black-ct4qb Because you are called but you have to step up to it man. It might always be a fight. We were never called to be comfortable christians, but fighting it until it become nothing but a slain giant is what God whats for you brother. Just like working out you keep getting stronger until the things that were a burden before are not anymore. We are all going through our own struggles of lust, emptiness, depression etc. People all around the world are going through things easier and maybe even worse than you. Many fail, but if you have to fight in you still and you realize this, you still have the spirit in you. You are just not giving it a fighting chance anymore. Dont listen to the words of the enemy to give up and lust. People around the world are failing walking with God like this, but so many are succeeding as well. Dosnt mean it will be perfect but one step at a time. If you wont cling to the holyspirit or God, then you dont love him enough to put down your own desires.

Reflect on 1 John 3:3 which says “and everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure” I heard a sermon be preached on this and the preacher said in a time of sin whether it be a sinful thought or physical sin think to yourself “if Christ returned right now, would I be doing this”. When I really reflected on Christ coming back, not to judge the sinners but to save those who are patiently waiting it really helped me overcome some tough times. But, it started with this basic question, would I be doing this if He came back right now?” Because we don’t know when He is returning but He most definitely is.

As a man who many years ago did this exact thing and strayed from the Lord for years. Please brother, don't do it. The Lord is merciful to forgive but the pain and disgrace of denying our Father lingers. The community you lose, family, and the darkness it takes your soul too. It's not worth it. Go confess to your church brothers/pastor, get accountability, and stop in your tracks. We don't know what tomorrow may bring forth. 2nd Corinthians 12:9-10 has become a life verse for me even after all these years. Our weakness is where Christ's glory can shine in us while His strength rests on us!

This type of exhortation and rebuking is necessary and honestly in America I think there’s a huge lack of it. We’ve started calling things “toxic purity culture” or “Not loving” This is love. “This isn’t Piper talk it’s Bible talk” Paul even says “Oh you foolish Galatians, who has cast a spell on you?”. Don’t get me wrong there’s a time for this rebuking and a time for gentleness and humility. There’s a time for meekness and understanding, there’s a time for growing in knowledge and challenging someone else to grow in knowledge. It’s not an excuse to misuse God’s word to hurt people but it is definitely necessary, especially to men I might add.
