Great overview. Switch to the Boom Pro last spring. Noticed pretty much the same elements. I can really kill balls on the forehand. I would say my slice backhand is a bit less penetrating than with my previous racket but I get way more top spin on my one-hander, which gives me more margin. I was also worried about the weight but you get used to it. I thought I would serve bigger with this racket but not really. Still a very good frame that is a good compromise in terms of control and power. I’ve hesitated quite a bit between this one and the Speed MP but since I did not wanted to tinker too much with weights, I ended up with the Boom. Thanks!

I used Speed Pros for years with my one hander without ever thinking about head size, started watching KZbin videos and that started me on a journey I wish I never started lol…Tried a heap of Racquets 95-98sq and bought quite a few, fell in love with the Extreme Tour and recently the Extreme Pro, had a flirt with the 2023 Prestige Tour and whilst all these and a heap of others did feel great and ‘probably’ a bit more suited to the one hander, this week I’ve been hitting with my 2021 Speed Pro and I’m going back to it…Almost feels just like a bigger more manageable Prestige with its clean feel and similar flex feel at contact..absolutely zero issues controlling a one hander with it…I do want to try the Boom Pro, probably the only Head I haven’t tried

Mannnn I tried to give all the new head lines a shot... I just don't like Auxetic. Head rackets of today just don't do it for me. I just sold the boom pro. I still have a Prestige MP L. I'm using a 23 Yonex Vcore 98 now.

@@Sinisterg60 yeh I’m on the fence with Auxetics feel…the 2021 Speed Pro I’m using isn’t Auxetic and I absolutely love it…I hit with the 2024 Speed Pro earlier this year and didn’t mind it though I prefer my 2021 and I think they increased the swing weight which I don’t think it needed…I have a 2023 Vcore 98 as well and didn’t mind it but it along with the Ezone 98 sometimes feel like they’re longer even though they’re not, felt odd to me sometimes
@Sinisterg602 ай бұрын
@TheTennisDaddy interesting they felt longer. Same sensation with the boom pro. Maybe that's why the vcore was easy to jump right into. The vcore is great on my one hander. Plenty stable. I always get freaked out with the amount of spin and shaoe I put on shots. I always think it's going to sail and it drops right in and always confuses opponents. I think that's why I'm addicted to it. Maybe I need to track down some pre auxetic frames.
@TheTennisDaddy2 ай бұрын
@@Sinisterg60 I had that happen often with the Extreme Pro actually lol, shots dropping in aggressively with so much spin, has everyone confused lol…yeh some people love auxetic and some don’t…I do really like the 2023 auxetic 2.0 Prestige Tour a bit more than the Auxetic 1 but never tried non auxetic Prestige…but the Speeds I’m not sure, 2021 is great imo

Using boom pro and liking the overall performance balance. As many says, i think boom requires crispy / stiff strings, i ve tested 3 head strings on it, hawk rough (i like the most, but very stiff), hawk touch grey (best balanced so far) hawk touch red (too springy, can't control depth). Racket is muted and very dependant on strings, hope you find a good string and grip for it.
@Sinisterg602 ай бұрын
Ive been hitting with the 2022 boom pro and have struggled to gel with it... because of the muted artificially soft weird nature of the auxetic you need a crispy string(anytjing silver, tour bite, alu type stuff). Try a thinner sythetic grip. I messed up getting the number 2 grip. Need a 3. I have a ohbh and seem to be late more often than not... the racket face seems to play more like a 100. Ive lived head rackets aince i was a kid in the 90's but auxetic is just too weird to get used to. Its not a uniform flex of the racket. Its artificial to me. So ive gone to a 2021 cx200 le that i have customized.
@trashbintennis55502 ай бұрын
@@Sinisterg60 agreed, so muted and disconnected. Way more so than I anticipated. I have never used a head racket before so I don’t have the same benchmark you do. I’m getting used to it though. It’s just that grip shap and weight need to resolve. Gonna put a Wilson featherlight grip on it and see how it plays
@Sinisterg602 ай бұрын
@@trashbintennis5550 the Featherlite might help. I don't mind the grip on the head rackets at all. I'm used to the old much more rectangular ones. The new ones aren't that bad but make finding the right bevel kind of vague. I'm selling this 2022 on the cheap. Waiting for the new Gravity 98 Tour coming in January.

One the most underrated and uknown racquet brands is Angell. Their TC line is customizable; you can choose from head size, to balance, to weight (grams), and grip size. I have an Angell TC 97 16x19 and it's easily one of the best racquets I've ever had. It flexes like older racquets and stiff enough for control. Of course, the only thing is that you can't demo their racquets but their QC is top notch.

While you stated that you tried others before choosing the boom , the best 97's for a 1 hander is the Babalot pure strike 97 and the Wilson Ultra pro v4 . 1) 😳 it’s like a Kdrama time jump. Your kid went from a baby to a toddler in the blink of a eye!? 2) Longshanks: “ Condor you punk! I gotta buy another racket now!?” 3) It is possible to alter a grips shape by using precisely cut strips of masking tape placed on the two bevels you want widened. Im guessing the flatness of the head grip is what’s bothering you. If that’s the case tape would be placed on bevels 3 & 7. Measure and cut the strips precisely to the width of these bevels. A metal ruler and a razor work well. Place a couple of strips on each bevel and regrip test the feel. Repeat as needed until the desired shape is attained. Up to roughly 8 strips can be layered on each bevel depending on the quality of the tape you use. It’s a good idea to press the tape with a smooth pen or dowel used like a roller to prevent future settling/ compressing of the tape. If your the type that sweats profusely and expects the grip to transmit moisture to the tape. It would be a good idea to wrap the grip in a single concentric layer of tape butted up to each other to seal and hold the strips in place. Remember not spiral like a grip is attached. This will add some size to your grip but should allow you to use a thinner synthetic grip. Calipers could be used to more precisely match the pallet width to that of your old racket. 4) Listening to your commentary it’s like tennis wise you have a dual personality. One part is rational, intelligent and seems to understand the reality of what’s going on. The other part just wants to have fun and wants what it wants. I appreciate the fun side as it frankly makes the channel worth watching. But at some point if your to reach near your true potential your gonna have to listen to that rational side a bit more. 🧐 ❤
