Exactly, look at the stans for Everything all at once, they used to be chill asf back when the movie was still getting released in theatres and barely anyone had seen it, now they're harassing critics for not putting it in their 2022 movie lists. I think it's just a fact of the internet now, the larger a fandom gets the more insufferable they become, honestly not having such a large standom was probably the best thing that could happen for this sequel, people that were otherwise indifferent won't be turned off by annoying stans and it can be kind've a fresh start for the series.

I've grown up my whole life needing a wheelchair. Seeing Jake get the chance to leave his and feel like his own life has become a dream hits in a way that most people won't get. And I understand why, but people don't realize just how well formed these characters are. Not every person in a story needs to be these three-dimensional puzzles with complex feelings and motivations for every moment. Sometimes they just need to be the personification of one feeling, expanded to a character that can tell a story.

@@dreamer2260 I doubt it’s the industrial colonizing economy that’s getting the hate, cause people eat that stuff up all the time from Hollywood. @neroidius6915 I really don't really think The Avatar movies are hated by the majority tho, I think the hate it gets is simply a 'vocal minority' situation, because if you look at the IMDB ratings of these movies Avatar (2009) is actually higher than Titanic which is no small feat and proves that the audience definitely doesn't hate it, and the way of water is not far behind either.

I really enjoyed the visuals, the storyline and the relationship different characters had with their mounts. We didn't see Neytiri bonding and socializing with her new Banshee the way she did with her older one. However the new plesi thingy things were very social and truly apart of the water peoples society. It really shows how differently different cultures, although fictional, interact with their "mounts". I was also shocked to see so many people hate on avatar it almost feels like James Cameron beat up their moms at the street or something. Avatar had such an impact on me during my childhood, I watched the first one in 3d at the movie theater with my parents when I was 9 and I was completely blown away. That movie was peak escapism for me, James Cameron is amazing at the worldbuilding and has a way to suck you in this universe, it's unlike anything I had ever seen. Now I'm in my 20s and after seeing The Way of Water, I can say Cameron did it again. Hopefully he'll have the chance to tell this story for as long as he intended, my avatar fan spirit has never been so alive. We avatar fans stick together!

Finally I'm not alone!! I'm a huge Avatar stan, always have been. When I saw the first movie I was super young, didn't understand what was going on, all I could think about was the beautiful world I was immersed in after the 30-40 min mark. Rewatching it 8-10 times made me completely engrossed in the film, and all the levels of detail put into it. Naysayers love to say "There's no story" but that's just because they aren't paying attention or trying to understand. I just watched Way of Water on the 15th, the IMAX near to me had an early release. It. Was. Phenomenal. I won't spoiler it here, because maybe, JUST maybe, someone else is as passionate about the franchise as I am. I'd love to start a conversation about it.

Exactly!!! The movie doesn't have the most complex plot but it doesn't have to have one to be so good. I just saw it yesterday and definitely one of my favorites there is so much world building and potential for the future sequels. Its such a good movie especially now when I'm feeling the super hero movie fatigue. Avatar gives such a fresh new world to be invested in
@adrianavanhoofrodriguez576
@adrianavanhoofrodriguez576 Жыл бұрын
@@nellio3981 A great story doesn't need to have the most original plot ever, it all depends on how talented the story writer is to tell that story that matters. I think people expect way too much of Avatar, they want a groundbreaking plot and no one else could come up with except James Cameron, and that's not really how it works. Making something completely original is really really hard, and it takes you more time to fix the plotholes than continuing the story itself. Both movies have basic plots: on the first one was "Protect the natives from the people you used to trust" and the second one is "Protect your family from the people that want you dead", very simple, yet Cameron delivers it perfectly, with its own twists here and there to make a great movie out of it.

Bro, thank you so much. I will never forget the first time I saw Avatar in theaters. I am Diné (Navajo) and seeing Neytiri pray with so much reverence as she kills that injured viperwolf after saving Jake in her intro scene reminded me of the same reverence with which we pray whenever we slaughter sheep for their meat, organs, and wool. It was so beautiful to see that kind of respect for nature and life on the big screen in a huge Hollywood spectacle of a movie. My best friend and I were probably the only ones extremely hyped up for this movie in our entire college when it was first announced- we've waited YEARS FOR THIS and it's finally here. We've booked IMAX 3d tickets for tomorrow, words cannot describe how excited we are Update: our show got cancelled because they had a problem with our projectors. We are distraught. We are going go watch it this Sunday. Hopefully no more problems arise on sunday UPDATE AGAIN: we finally watched it. Visuals. Visuals. Visuals. The sheer amount of colours and hues that are displayed on screen is just insane. Almsot every scene is gauranteed to be beautiful, my eyes legitamately started to water just because of how beautiful the film is. Coming out of the theatre, the real world looks and feels so sad and grey. Although the whole movie felt a bit- pointless? Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable just by the fact you get so easily lost into the world building of the film but 1½ hours in, you start to realise- "ok what is the point of this movie?" The main plot drive only takes place 1½ hours in but other than that, it's a great sequel

Exactly. Avatar introduced so many cool sci fi concepts that give this IP huge franchise potential. -The human tech their ability to clone bodies, humans bodies alien bodies that means they could probably clone the creatures on Pandora also grow their own banshees. How about the human abilities to send consciousness into bodies, well they more than likely are able to do conscious / memories (hmm is that’s why the bad guy is back did they have is memories hmmm). How about the cool Mec Suits, the tactical gear, that cool interstellar ship, the Valkyrie shuttle. That’s just the human sides. How about The Navi and Pandora. These people can link with creatures, can’t upload an download memories of ancestors, or speak to ancestors this could mean that they could speak to each other like a old school phone landline from across the planet on by linking to the tree of voices, the Navi also can send consciousness like they did Jake. How about that the planet is literally alive, and can send all its l living creatures to go to war at a threat. What if that planet can somehow be hacked by the humans in the sequels hmmm? This IP set so much stuff up in the original it starts to make sense why James Cameron said F a trilogy I’m making 5 films, the guy has so much sci fi shit to play with. We haven’t even scratched the surface on what the Humans can do tech wise and also what the Navi can do with their natural abilities. I’m excited.

I'm half Gujarati and a Hindu. Indian and Hinduism culture helped inspire the Na'vi and I was so happy when I noticed those details in the movie as a little girl. Of course, there's Native American, African and even some Scandinavian influences in there. I love the messages of protecting our world, respecting other people's cultures and more in it. I'm 22 now and loved the new one. SO HAPPY I'm not the only Avatar stan XD

I love Avatar, I saw it 11 times in the theater (two of those were the recent re-release). I'm so happy that others are hyped for The Way of Water, I have tickets to see it twice and if it's as good as the original I will break my record and watch it 12 times in the theater.

As a kid with an active imagination I loved the world of Pandora and its flora and fauna. I didn’t understand some of the story at the time but I loved the visuals. I rewatched it again recently and I’m still amazed. Would like to see the sequel

Naw bro I was on the same page as you. I loved the first one, and rewatched it a few months ago only to fall in love all over again. Its insanely beautiful, the characters are interesting and you like them and want them to win, the bad guys have a justifiable cause for doing what they are doing so they actually serve a purpose instead of being just, the random bad guys that were hurt as children and decided to live their whole lives with a vindictive gynocidal view of humanity. It's not a complex story. Man leaves his team to join another team that he cares for more, and identifies with more, and then fights his original team to protect his new one. That's basically the main plot. Yes, it's simple, but its' simplicity is done so perfectly that it's great. Movies do not have to have some grand philosophical theme to be good, they just have to use the aspects of the world that the writer created logically, and believably, and they need to make it entertaining. Avatar does just that. And if you even wanted to, you can extrapolate a grand philosophical theme. Just like Pandora is a world, so is Earth. And Earth is beautiful. Lets stop killing eachother and the planet, and instead band together to help this beautiful rock that we call home thrive, and lets let our relationships with eachother as humans thrive too beacuase it is simply just so beautiful to be alive that we should protect life. Boom, big theme, big meaning that can affect any person that watches this. Haters, fuck off. Y'all are just hopping on a bandwagon to feel quirky and different by hating a movie that was so damn successful. I have not seen a logical reason as to why this film is objectively bad. If you didn't like it, then fine I could care less about your inability to enjoy melting into a beautiful world and story about family, and aliens. But if you say it's a bad movie? You're wrong. It is a simple story that uses the information at hand that is justified in the world created to create a logical train of events of two species, and characters within them to grow together, fight together for the things that they care about, and then reach a believable conclusion. Avatar is a good movie. Your feelings on it are yours and are justified given your personality traits, but as a story and movie, It. Is. Good.

Trust me your not the only Stan, I also grew up loving this movie and fact that people hate avatar will probably go watch this movie again more than once. Also James Cameron takes his work a lot seriously so I’m sure he’s not only good with great visuals. It’s nice to see people defending this sequel even though we haven’t watched it yet.

People thought Titanic was going to be a huge flop, and it ended up being a phenomenon. I don't think James Cameron is the best screenwriter, but I respect his ambition and vision and will definitely see Avatar 2 in 3D.

Loved Ferngully as a kid, loved Dances With Wolves and loved Avatar. All similar plots have a powerful message that still needs to be embraced today.

Back in early 2010, when the first Avatar movie was still in theaters, I was 4 years old and came across the trailer on TV one day, I kept begging my dad to let me watch the movie with the gorgeous scenery and cool robot suits. He managed to sneak 4 years old me into a 13+ movie(somehow) and we both loved it so much we've seen it at least twenty times over, with four more in the theaters and god knows how many on DVD. I went to watch The Way of Water on its first Saturday in my country and immediately returned on Sunday. I lack the vocabulary necessary to describe how incomprehensibly amazing it was.

I’m too hyped for this film bro, restless nights! Just imagining how beautiful scenes are gonna look, took my girl and my little siblings to see the rerelease of the first one in 3D a few months ago, and they were all shocked by how good it was, they always just regarded it as the tall blue alien people, even had my girl tearing up. Really can’t wait!

I am and will always be an avatar Stan!!, I have no idea how people can be so horrible about the sequel especially when they hadn’t even seen it yet. I’ve been waiting in suspense for another one since the first one was released checking in Google every few months for updates on if it would happen and when and I screamed when I saw the image of the 4 movies to come. The world of Pandora feels like home and returning to it yesterday meant so much to me I’m absolutely in love with it 😍😍😍 couldn’t have asked for a better sequel 💙💙💙💙✊🏽🙏🏽

I feel like one of the main reasons this movie started getting hate recently is because it is mainly a cinema experience. It was made with the intention of being watched on the big screen and with 3D glasses, and it really hits you when you do. But since it's been over 10 years since it came out, people are very far removed from that experience, seeing it on small screens, phones and TV reruns, so that magic is lost, and it just became "that movie". I'm very hyped to see it on cinemas
