I just watched Way of Water on the 15th, the IMAX near to me had an early release. It. Was. Phenomenal. @adrianavanhoofrodriguez576 Жыл бұрын
@@nellio3981 A great story doesn't need to have the most original plot ever, it all depends on how talented the story writer is to tell that story that matters. I think people expect way too much of Avatar, they want a groundbreaking plot and no one else could come up with except James Cameron, and that's not really how it works. Making something completely original is really really hard, and it takes you more time to fix the plotholes than continuing the story itself. Both movies have basic plots: on the first one was "Protect the natives from the people you used to trust" and the second one is "Protect your family from the people that want you dead", very simple, yet Cameron delivers it perfectly, with its own twists here and there to make a great movie out of it.

Bro, thank you so much. I will never forget the first time I saw Avatar in theaters. I am Diné (Navajo) and seeing Neytiri pray with so much reverence as she kills that injured viperwolf after saving Jake in her intro scene reminded me of the same reverence with which we pray whenever we slaughter sheep for their meat, organs, and wool. It was so beautiful to see that kind of respect for nature and life on the big screen in a huge Hollywood spectacle of a movie. I just watched Avatar: The Way of Water the other day and I can't wait to go back. You got another Avatar stan right here, cuz!

That is really beautiful to hear from a Native American; hearing that some native people were upset about the films for various reasons made me sad (not saying they shouldn't feel that way, just made me sad, as I thought in many ways it was a beautiful tribute to a lot of indigenous cultures; sometimes cliched and stereotyped perhaps, but also in many ways quite true).

I love the Avatar world. They have cool-ass animals they can fly, ride, swim and dive with. Beautiful glowing plants. Life as a Na'vi conists of being part of a clan and going on adventures. The Na'vi respect their world. They live in harmony with nature and protect it from others trying to exploit it. Something so essential, that we humans somehow kind of lost.

I think you hit the nail on the head with one point in this video: it's a beautiful movie that takes itself seriously even when it could be goofy, where other big budget movies feel the need to undercut themselves with jokes whenever something is too heartfelt or serious. I just love that it takes its setting and its characters seriously and says "you can enjoy this fantasy without having to be given a joke once in a while to remind you you're not supposed to enjoy stuff too seriously".

My best friend and I were probably the only ones extremely hyped up for this movie in our entire college when it was first announced- we've waited YEARS FOR THIS and it's finally here. We've booked IMAX 3d tickets for tomorrow, words cannot describe how excited we are Update: our show got cancelled because they had a problem with our projectors. We are distraught. We are going go watch it this Sunday. Hopefully no more problems arise on sunday UPDATE AGAIN: we finally watched it. Visuals. Visuals. Visuals. The sheer amount of colours and hues that are displayed on screen is just insane. Almsot every scene is gauranteed to be beautiful, my eyes legitamately started to water just because of how beautiful the film is. Coming out of the theatre, the real world looks and feels so sad and grey. Although the whole movie felt a bit- pointless? Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable just by the fact you get so easily lost into the world building of the film but 1½ hours in, you start to realise- "ok what is the point of this movie?" The main plot drive only takes place 1½ hours in but other than that, it's a great sequel

That shit was actually amazing, the cartoony over the top action race scenes and the message about family (way before fast and the furious even went down that road fully). Exactly. Avatar introduced so many cool sci fi concepts that give this IP huge franchise potential. -The human tech their ability to clone bodies, humans bodies alien bodies that means they could probably clone the creatures on Pandora also grow their own banshees. How about the human abilities to send consciousness into bodies, well they more than likely are able to do conscious / memories (hmm is that’s why the bad guy is back did they have is memories hmmm). How about the cool Mec Suits, the tactical gear, that cool interstellar ship, the Valkyrie shuttle. That’s just the human sides. How about The Navi and Pandora. These people can link with creatures, can’t upload an download memories of ancestors, or speak to ancestors this could mean that they could speak to each other like a old school phone landline from across the planet on by linking to the tree of voices, the Navi also can send consciousness like they did Jake. How about that the planet is literally alive, and can send all its l living creatures to go to war at a threat. What if that planet can somehow be hacked by the humans in the sequels hmmm? This IP set so much stuff up in the original it starts to make sense why James Cameron said F a trilogy I’m making 5 films, the guy has so much sci fi shit to play with. We haven’t even scratched the surface on what the Humans can do tech wise and also what the Navi can do with their natural abilities. I’m excited.

Naw bro I was on the same page as you. I loved the first one, and rewatched it a few months ago only to fall in love all over again. Its insanely beautiful, the characters are interesting and you like them and want them to win, the bad guys have a justifiable cause for doing what they are doing so they actually serve a purpose instead of being just, the random bad guys that were hurt as children and decided to live their whole lives with a vindictive gynocidal view of humanity. It's not a complex story. Man leaves his team to join another team that he cares for more, and identifies with more, and then fights his original team to protect his new one. That's basically the main plot. Yes, it's simple, but its' simplicity is done so perfectly that it's great. Movies do not have to have some grand philosophical theme to be good, they just have to use the aspects of the world that the writer created logically, and believably, and they need to make it entertaining. Avatar does just that. And if you even wanted to, you can extrapolate a grand philosophical theme. Just like Pandora is a world, so is Earth. And Earth is beautiful. Lets stop killing eachother and the planet, and instead band together to help this beautiful rock that we call home thrive, and lets let our relationships with eachother as humans thrive too beacuase it is simply just so beautiful to be alive that we should protect life. Boom, big theme, big meaning that can affect any person that watches this. Haters, fuck off. Y'all are just hopping on a bandwagon to feel quirky and different by hating a movie that was so damn successful. I have not seen a logical reason as to why this film is objectively bad. If you didn't like it, then fine I could care less about your inability to enjoy melting into a beautiful world and story about family, and aliens. But if you say it's a bad movie? You're wrong. It is a simple story that uses the information at hand that is justified in the world created to create a logical train of events of two species, and characters within them to grow together, fight together for the things that they care about, and then reach a believable conclusion. Avatar is a good movie. Your feelings on it are yours and are justified given your personality traits, but as a story and movie, It. Is. Good.

I feel like one of the main reasons this movie started getting hate recently is because it is mainly a cinema experience. It was made with the intention of being watched on the big screen and with 3D glasses, and it really hits you when you do. But since it's been over 10 years since it came out, people are very far removed from that experience, seeing it on small screens, phones and TV reruns, so that magic is lost, and it just became "that movie".
