Calling her a Gen-Z Dolly Parton is an insult to the entire country music genre and country people in general
@professionalgrasstoucher81673 ай бұрын
To be fair, she does have the same kind of vibe as Dolly. Maybe not the same talent musically (I honestly have no idea), but she seems to use a lot of self deprecation and humbleness to pivot from uncomfortable questions and trolls. She has an undeniable southern charm. She’s a sex icon of sorts who doesn’t have much interest in actually being sexualized. She just seems like a nice fun person you’d want in your life. At least the public side of what we’ve seen, she seems like a good human. Anyway, I get the sentiments of “what did this girl do to be compared with Dolly Parton” and it’s not meant to be more than that, but it also kind of feels like feeding into misogynistic attitudes to bring this woman down a peg. It feels like what some people want to say is “how dare that bitch”. I also kind of think Dolly would not want people disparaging this young women.

@professionalgrasstoucher8167 i get what the comparisons here. However, I think part of peoples outrage (for lack of better term) stems from the fact that this girl doesn't quite measure up to Dolly in terms of impact in the chosen content area, social politics (Dolly is a feminist icon and advocates for marginalized communities) and the philanthropist side (yet. We have to see where she goes). Dolly represents a generation, and many people (myself included) don't want to be represented by "hawk tuah girl". Hell, she doesnt even want that label to stick. Theres many other famous gen z folks who are closer to Dolly's level in the areas I mentioned who could be considered our generations Dolly Parton. Zendaya for example. I cant give a country example don't know many gen z country artists or actors as they are either in content I don't consume or covered their accent for a role.

We can’t equate a dirty joke made in a safe space (camera or no) with the response it has garnered. This isn’t the same thing as making a hateful/bigoted comment and receiving (no pun intended) blowback from it. She is referring to private personal interactions not doing public sex work. Plus, her turning down _incredibly_ lucrative OF and playboy income made it very clear that she’s not trying to objectify herself further. Saying that you have a certain “move” in bed isn’t an open invitation for stalkers; and hand waving her ordeal bc we don’t agree/identify with her -relationship advice- sense of humor is … fůcked. Right now, there are so many women turning their backs on her (just like they (read:we) tend to do with anyone that’s captured the hearts and minds of pervs everywhere) I think that allows this garbage to continue. I think any violation of her likeness or even worse her actual physical space should be treated as a violation of our own space (digital, physical or temporal) and rebuked with prejudice.

for some weird reason, a lot of men seem to associate women making raunchy jokes as a woman who'll give men access to her body easily, which is why they held this expectation that she'll make an onlyfans and appreciate weird DMs, when in reality that wasn't the case there's so much unpacked misogyny regarding the scope of the entire situation concerning the hawk-tuah meme

Exactly, it's just plain old misogyny. Some men hate women having sexual agency SO much, the moment a woman says something sexual, they believe it's their fair right to r@pe her (as a punishment). It's sick if you understand their mindset. They want women silent, submissive and "taking it" for the man's pleasure, even if they don't want to. It's the same reason they degrade sex workers but ask any random girl to "start onlyfans". It's the same reason they are against abortion cause "you opened your legs, this is your punishment", as if the man didn't cum in another person non-consensually, or as if a child is a "curse". It's a misogynistic power play to them & I'm so tired of it.

Even if she wanted to be famous before, she’s suddenly got a million people following her for something she doesn’t want to be known for, and didn’t get to pick a niche herself, so as soon as everyone gets it that she’s not interested in doing sex work, this will be over. I think she should from just a 'hope the best for people' kind of way. For the record I'm gay, but I don't think her reality show will take off. She's trying to capitalize on viral fame, with something slow moving like reality TV. By the time its edited and ready to sell to a network there will be a new internet darling. Onlyfans would have been a direct money making opportunity, quickly, at the height of her fame. Its not like shed have to create porn on her onlyfans. Lots of people seem to think she'd be a great stand up comedian, she could produce more innocent content like that.
@arissa17623 ай бұрын
@@dylankennedy6020 true, but 'onlyfans' is known for that content. i think it would be fine and somewhat funny to make an account and get subscribers to something totally innocent. however, the way fake news spreads on facebook, her creating an onlyfans is all that would be reported to some people, and it's a slippery slope.
@arissa17623 ай бұрын
@@dylankennedy6020 so, let's say she created an onlyfans, and she didn't post anything risky on it. well, then it is reported and people don't click on the article links that explain she is doing innocent things. then, when a deepfaked video comes out (as they have countless times on facebook), her public image is smeared by them and they believe it even more. they believed one of taylor swift. my (bigoted) grandfather told me about taylor swift's, thinking it was real and that she was recorded by a man she was intimate with. in which case, i explained, she would have been a victim if a man recorded and posted such a thing lmao. he legit serial cheated on my grandmother, but he seems to think that a woman is wrong for being in a casual relationship. besides the point, he is infuriating.

What’s crazy too is Haliey fits the stereotypical attractive American girl look that a lot of men want. She’s a beautiful, blonde girl with what seems like a bubbly personality. That also kinda plays into her virality as well, because men do finding it amusing and a little refreshing that Haliey is more confident in making sexual/more raunchy jokes. All that combined, really did help make her as popular as she is. Most women who have no problem making these kinds of jokes, but only when we feel comfortable in the company we are in. Haliey being drunk also helped with that too. I’m willing to bet that she wouldn’t have made that joke if she was sober in public. It surprises a lot of men when we do make these jokes, cause women are taught to be sophisticated and to hold a different standard in public than men, i.e. more “ladylike”. Haliey just happened to go viral cause she was a pretty girl who said something that dudes wouldn’t expect a woman to say out loud, and I feel for her having to deal with all the attention. Tbh that’s why most of us keep those jokes to ourselves and our close circle of friends; we don’t want that attention.
@fetchwalkerenthusiast3 ай бұрын
I saw someone make a comment similar to this but specifically saying that older traditional type men thought it was the funniest because "women just don't say stuff like that"; it's raunchy, but also comparatively tame when it comes to making jokes about sexual things so it perfectly appeals to a certain demographic lol 😭😭
@chatnoir90383 ай бұрын
The perfect match between raunchy and clean. Any more, and she would have been written off as a (insert derogaroty term). Any less, and she would not have had the shock value. I also bet that she would not have reached this hype had her joke revolved around a woman's pleasure. This was of coirse dictated by what the interviewer asked, but I feel like part of the appeal to men was that the joke was about a woman pleasuring a man. I will also add that these street interviews seem predatory and creepy; they are literally going out and trying to find drunk people to film and interview. People who are under the influence aren't known to make good decisions, and the content creators rely on that. It's scummy.
