I commend your vulnerability. It is very courageous and I hope you get through this! I had major depressive disorder, was suicidal, and even had auditory hallucinations, and I increased my vegetable intake to 7 cups per day (mainly organic) and I have weaned off and have stayed off of multiple medications including anti psychotics. Meditation and forgiveness of myself and the childhood abusers in my life is what has also helped me maintain staying off of these medications. These meds are a great support for short term use, while one works on correcting their thought processes; but in long-term use, they do damage to the organs. The ONE common piece of information I got from over 10 psychologist is to learn to stay present. Meditation and forgiveness are tools to help stay present. Stay strong and never give up. You will get through this!

Thanks so much for your openness and honesty. I have MDD which is controlled well by Wellbutrin and talk therapy. However, I am dealing with the condition of Apathy which keeps me from enjoying life. I am retired, and had looked forward to several hobbies and pastimes I used to enjoy. The fact is I have no motivation to do any of them, and stay in the house on my iPad for most of the day which drives my wife nuts. Several months ago my psychiatrist suggested Abilify for that condition, and I have since read that it does help many. I am seeing him again next week, and will be reopening a discussion of Abilify to see if it does help. Please keep posting your experience with it, and, if you like, I will do likewise. Thanks again!

Hi Sarah. All the best to your mother. 💕 been on Zoloft (100mg) for about 6 months now, and just tried to OD again. This is due to external factors, changes and emotional triggers. Also trying to sober up again after relapsing. A part of me wishes I could find a simple solution. I’ve tried therapy but it didn’t help in regards to tools and coping mechanisms for when things get bad. I’m trying again, but I have no idea why/how things are going to be different this time. Anyway, here’s to taking it one day, one step, one moment at a time. Thanks for your video 🙏

1st of all my heart really goes out to you with your mom , right now I am experiencing issues with my mom, due to her issues and mental health , but she is not cognizant of them at all. She just doesn't understand although her health is suffering in a different way , she doesn't realize she can be as bad as your mom, my thoughts and prayers for her and you. I am finding out more and more we can have some level of gratitude in life, no matter how tough life gets, FYI that doesn't mean we do cartwheels of happiness, what it just means, is keeping our sanity, and our hearts . Please update us on your Abilify journey , currently I am on 7 weeks of Zoloft 125MG , sprinkled in with 1 MG of Lorazepam every day , so far so good .

I was just starting on this. I hope it works. Depression is exhausting, and embarrassing for me to talk about so I give you so much credit. As for hurting yourself PLEASE don't ever do that you're an angel in disguise.
@annt73842 жыл бұрын
I totally agree: depression is freaking *exhausting.* I’m not sure people understand just how exhausting, and I don’t think I can really explain. It’s bad enough having low energy and sleep issues because of it, but then add your emotions working overtime to fill you with doom, gloom and despair…. It’s a lot! It takes a lot out of person. Omega 3 (fish oil) is supposed to help with that, as is being really honest with your doctor or therapist how you’re really feeling. It’s nothing to ride out on your own; it does get better but it’s hard to reach out. But totally necessary. Suffering is over-rated.
@bradjohnson15782 жыл бұрын
@@annt7384 yes it is exhausting. I went many years doing just that trying to ride it out on my own, and that's the worst thing you could do. You know with all this stuff in the media lately with people's feelings turning into a supposed reality doesn't help either. You try to tell someone even a therapist how you really feel about it me being more conservative, and they act like you're the devil. I had one therapist tell me I was wrong lol. So I just started telling him that I was fine and not opening up. Like I said I tried to do it by myself for a long time, and there are a lot of people that think they're depressed and they're really just going through something small but for people that are really depressed, and have been for a long time it's a dangerous thing to do on your own. Especially for young people. I just pray that everyone gets the help they need. Before it's too late.
@annt73842 жыл бұрын
@@bradjohnson1578 Wow, Brad. Tough times! I’m so glad you’re in treatment; going it alone is counter-productive and prolongs symptoms. Some things I feel no hesitancy in asking for help; I talk to my doctors about my mood disorder like I’m talking to a mechanic about my car that is under-performing. I just point out what’s not working right and try not to feel to guilty about it. But in other areas of my life, asking for help feels like a failing. So I get it.

I struggled monthly for many years, honestly felt like my good days totalled one week only then the cycle would begin again. Menopause was such a blessing to me when it arrived! I just read a good book on anxiety and intrusive thoughts. It was so refreshing to hear that many people struggle with intrusive thoughts. It’s like getting a song stuck in your head that you just can’t stop. For most of us we would never carry out those thoughts but the fear of doing so is terrifying. Good luck with Abilify, you are a great encourager to many of us battling mental health issues.

I took many psychotropic meds for decades and I was feeling “good” but was not present 100%. Almost died from withdrawal side effects, because I stopped abruptly. It took me almost a year to fully come off meds. It took a lot of spiritual growth and warfare, but oh so worth it! Thanking God he had mercy. I have been off meds since 2018 and I have never been better. Holistic might not be the fast food of treatment but it is the long term effectiveness to go for. And last but not least God all the way. Pray for there is much more🙏🏽 I pray you find a healthy mental health and give God a chance🥰

I don't know how much you should take my experience as a warning, I may have just gotten the short end of the stick. Long story short, when I was 18 I was prescribed Abilify and at my own fault after 2 months I just cold-turkey stopped taking it, that's when I realized "discussing with your doctor beforehand" was actually serious. Because fast forward a couple more months I developed iatrogenesis into what I now have as spasmodic torticollis AKA cervical dystonia. I'm 25 and still struggle with it greatly, however I do believe it has something to do with somatization as well. And if I abused my dosage or not I don't remember, I don't think I did because it's not something you can get high on. But other than that, I stopped because it wasn't fixing what my real life needed fixing in which was the main cause of my depression at the time, so I'm sure it actually does work for people, but be careful (I'm sure you will, just thought I'd share my story)

But in November I could tell a crisis was starting, so my psychiatrist upped my dose of Zoloft and put me on a low dose of Zyprexa. It has been working very well, and next week I'm going to try a 1-month injection. It slows down my mind a little, but that's ok because I was having racing thoughts.
