Few graves that has the rod iron fence round em,lot folks believed back then that it kept the person's spirit from roaming and able to rest in peace..ole cemeteries and Victorian Era is a amazing part of history.. thanks for sharing.. from South Carolina

What a very nice walk and talk tour of Ridgeway, SC, town center, Timothy! That's a beautiful, peaceful, clean, small town that is vibrant. I thank you, Timothy, so much for respecting and paying homage to the former residents of Ridgeway who are at rest in that historic church's graveyard. I wish more people would take the time to visit graveyards/cemeteries to help ensure that those who are buried there are not forgotten. After all, they are an important part of our country's history. That historic town well turned Police Station is now considered the "World's Smallest Police Station." The area where you entered the station was added in 1940. The back area of the station with the now arched windows is where the well was located, and the arched openings allowed people access to the well. In answer to your question about tall doors on buildings, in the 19th and early 20th century, people were less dependent on artificial lighting and artificial ventilation systems, hence the reason for the bigger doors. In answer to your question about a coin being left on a grave's headstone, a coin left on a headstone lets the deceased soldier's family know that somebody stopped by to pay their respect. A penny means you visited. A nickel means you and the deceased veteran trained at boot camp together, and a dime means you and the deceased veteran served together in some capacity. Yes sir looks like a nice little town and the locals probably prefer it that way! I'm surprised the old wood buildings are still standing. Probably Date back to the late 1800's. Looks like a lot of noisy traffic flow in town just passing by however.❤
