It’s good to know you also have some Ghanaian in you. I’m Ghanaian too , but I’m going to do Heritage DNA because I want to explore more of my family history and not everyone is of one ethnicity realistically.

You’re DNA matches closest to the samples taken from Benin/Togo. Segments of your DNA match the countries mentioned. Love your results.

Nice results. Many people of Fon and Yoruba origin (from Benin) but also Kongo origin (from Congo and Angola) were brought to Trinidad & Tobago so that could explained the large percentages. For the Ivory Coast/Ghana, it's maybe from your Jamaican side.

Mew Mangas TV Hey, wow that’s amazing that you’re results show that you’re 100% Cameroonian. It’s crazy because all the countries are so close to one another. Yes, I know about the Yoruba people in Trinidad. On my DNA Matches I have been linked with a few cousins that have African surnames. You’re right, I should send them a message and find out some more. Thank you 😊

Just a question: In the Caribbean region, are black people (people who descend from West Africans who were enslaved by the European colonizers) called "Afro-Caribbean" or "Black Caribbean"? I also heard that in the 80's and 90's in the US, they were called "West Indian" because they came from the West Indies.
@LaurelJade3 жыл бұрын
Hey Karlos, I think Afro-Caribbean is the correct term. Yep, that’s right about West Indian - also, it’s not only used in the US and is still a term used today synonymously with Caribbean to describe people from different islands across the Caribbean Sea, Guyana etc. Hope I helped 😊
@caribdoll18003 жыл бұрын
No we do not call ourselves Afro-Caribbean. That just started in 2020. We say West Indian or Caribbean. We know e have African in us we don’t need to put Afro in front. It’s actually annoying to people born in the Caribbean. Americans started saying that.
@karlos_infamous3 жыл бұрын
@@caribdoll1800 hi, thanks for the info. i did my research and yes, "West Indian" is used more frequent instead of "Afro Caribbean". Also, I think the term "Afro Caribbean" arose from black Americans in the US because by 1988, Jesse Jackson told the black American community (those who descended from slavery during US colonial period) to call themselves "African Americans".

The results show you where the majority of ethnic groups, who have dna similar to yours, are concentrated today. It doesn't necessarily mean that's where those people are from originally. A lot of people migrated in and out of those regions in Africa.

Reis Anderson I saw that they did an update, but my results didn’t change this time. If they do change in the future, I’ll definitely make an updated video! That’s awesome, what part of Africa was your highest percentage? I also want to do 23&Me, just to see if my results will also be the same/similar.

My mom and my grandmother did it and I was able to trace the place of origin my people have come from. It wasn't shocking at all because I always had a connection to Nigeria, I even found distant relatives that are from there today through a lot of research in the dna matches lol a lot. I'm igbo, fulani and many others.
