Nice pen. The first thing I got after using a vise to assemble a pen was a pen press. Next I purchased a blank drilling vise. There is no comparison between the two. The next thing was getting blanks and pen kits at the best price I can. This is a wonderful hobby I sell enough to keep me supplied in parts.

I completely agree I don't have as much time as I used to but I'm slowly freeing up time. Maybe I'll even get a video up this year 🤣

You should try a fountain pen kit

lay a paper towel on the bed below the blank and then spray a little water on the bit and keep the bit wet and no more smoke and you would have more room for turning if you used just the mandrel without the 4-jaw chuck, put the pen black in the 4jaw chuck and use a Jacob chuck for the squaring bit much safer, looks good at the end

Yes if it's starts doing that I probably will, I also need to sharpen or get a new drill bit haha

Great video!! I love the style. Could you please let me know the name of the pen kit, or where could I buy it?

It's called the virage rollerball pen kit from Lee Valley it's a great store for pen kits, they are a little on the high side but the quality is very good. I'm glad you liked the video. I got more on the way! 😀

@@HighSpeedWood thanks! I'm just getting started so I think I'll do a couple cheap first...and then try this one.

@@ChuckPPhotography good idea slimline pen kits are generally the cheapest anywhere between 3-10$ depending on the finish of the metal. They are usually considered the beginner kit but I find they are a little more difficult as you need to get the transition from the pen tip to the wood perfect. Good luck with your new hobby it's a really good one!

Very unsafe to hold the blank with the mill, and with gloves. A GREAT example of what NOT to do. As has been said, UTube has 1,000's of videos on pen turning, and 10's of them are actually good and safe.

Thanks for the comment. I understand your concern, I have a disclaimer in my description about the videos I post. That being said I appreciate the feedback and will try to be more safe for my viewers.

Only a fool would pay $110.00 for that.

The price isn't fully explained in this video and now I leave the pricing out. It's sold in Canadian dollars along with a usb with the making of the pen on it. A regular pen like this without a video would be around 35-45 Canadian.
