I'm genuinely surprised this worked so well with these basic parts.
This is how to make a mask for confined space toxic gas... but maybe Tear Gas even?
ok maybe not tear gas but basically I made an Atmosphere Supplying Respirator.
Usual disclaimer though - don't do what I do, be safe. See foot note for more.

Bad idea. That would waterlog the filter and get the charcoal used to filter toxins wet, and the water would get into the particulate layer, which would absorb the water. Do NOT put a gas mask filter underwater. Instead, put your palm over the hole on the filter. If the mask suctions to your face, it's sealed properly.

This means that we alledgedly built a $2000 machine out of a vaccuum and a gas mask in high school. Although we intended the final use to be similar to when the fog machine was blown in, and the goal was to keep that pesky oxygen out not in. Taking it off was the way to end your experience, and breathe in things other than alledgedly psychoactives. I would suggest using it to get lifted to another level with some 99% THCa crystals in some diamonds & sauce for flavour. or for simplicity, distallite 375 cartridges. Use a vaporizer, a disposable one of distallite or any that can take a concentrate bowl, and a 375 cart like the YoCan Evolve XL (i think its evolve, but its the xl one with bowl, storage, and takes 375, lasting battery life (rechargable) (the 375 carts come in .5/ 1g is as thick as a starseed or other vape pen/a pen, with length being the difference. The 2G ones are usually better bang for your buck, but are much wider to accomate the double amount) The vape will be nice because using herb with a torch made thick smoke, you had to close your eyes or they would get smoke in them, and your face smelled like burnt weed. So yea .... ill add this to my list of wild inventions/ smoking methods, and tricks to defeat stupid annoyences of life. Canadian, so weed was legallized years ago (which this story of making it in, alledgely in 2006, pre-legalization is just artistic liberty to make the story not illegal because Canada doesn't have statue of limitations, i believe most crimes can be charged back, alledgedly, in my opinion.

I think it needs to be a youtube challenge that you make your spouse, significant other, friend, whatever do the video narration without context... just here is the video figure it out. I think almost anyone would agree with me too that the best results come from somebody who has a minor understanding of what you do. Like a rocket scientist getting a restaurant manager the mic. It was truly spectacular, and it had been a while since I laughed that hard.

A second (parallel) hose, to extract your exhaled air, and you'll be biohazard-ready, mate! :) Suggestion: - Cola-bottles --> better pointed downwards? (won't catch water in case it rains outside) - DC/DC converter instead of a linear (hot) regulator (no heatsink needed!) - a quieter fan, so that your significant other can hear your panicked screams in the other room ;) - A BLDC-fan perhaps? (Nidec-Copal makes excellent commercial units, btw, albeit a bit pricey, and difficult to procure in these times.)

So it’s a respirator and not a gas mask other than that I love it
@NuclearGunner
@NuclearGunner 4 жыл бұрын
I've worked using half-mask & full face respirators, gas masks, self-contained breath apparatuses (SCBA), positive air pressure respirators (PAPR) and air-fed hoods. This is essentially, a full face respirator combined with an air-fed hood. Air-fed hoods & PAPRs don't have a face seal because the positive air pressure constantly changes out the air in the hood. Your breath goes along with the all of the air leaking out. The air leaking out prevents bad air from leaking in. It's 10x more effective at protecting you from fumes than masks. You didn't need a one-way valve or a scuba mask. PAPR & Air-fed hoods are basically just plastic bags with a plastic head band to keep it from clinging to your face. Still a cool contraption though.

The hose looks quite comfortable and with nice flexibility. But for pumping purpose from the outside I'm using just a dust collector ( unused before ) in reversed direction . I use the device at sandblasting because prefer fresh air over filtered air. And the fresh air is additionly filtered in the dust collector befor getting pumped in the hose.

Awersome video! This is what I call entertainment. This part made me laught way too hard 6:32 If cats are pissing everywhere, try to add some ethereal eucalyptus oil on the sufaces. I worked for my cat, my couch have been untouched since I started to use the oil.

Also use Teflon pipe seal tape in between the screws / filter / the creases of the fan of the case / and the hose connection parts including the grey piece and mask

Possible upgrade to save load on the air pump and/or power: make the pump switch on when you start inhaling and off when you stop, or have a pressure vessel to provide a buffer, like the way the bag of a set of bagpipes lets someone blow into it intermittently and maintain airflow out but in reverse. I'd also suggest have a valve on the air outlet, wherever that is. It seems to be your chin. You don't want to be sucking in unfiltered air under there.

Just a thought, those filters need to be facing downwards, because if you have the filter unit outside the workshop and it rains, the foam will soak the foamin the filters.

Actually I am in four high-risk groups myself so I'm looking to build this as a backpack with the intake up in the air to keep it away from viruses with perhaps a HEPA filter on the intake or even a UV-C bulb!

Brilliant! What about chilling the air? That’s got to be more comfortable over a long period of time.
