I've had a (bakelite/plastic) bayonet fitting - lamp adapter kicking around somewhere here. Still around until at least the 1960s when I was a child.

Do they use bayonet sockets for AC lighting in Australia?
@jimonthecoast323419 сағат бұрын
you don't have a mogul base lamp? mogul base has a center hot, with a screw ring neutral that looks like a 12V auto lamp you've used

my grandfather was an oiler in a steel mill, and he built a indicator board, that would show oil levels, from his workshop. wired the steel mill himself.

Kiwi here, back when electricity was first coming into use in homes, it was mostly used for lighting. Power sockets didn't exist. Portable appliances like electric kettles and irons slowly became more popular, the only way to plug them in was to use light sockets. In NZ and Australia it was the bayonet socket.

You can or used to be able to buy lightbulb socket to two pin socked adaptors. I still have an old bakelite one somewhere that was made in the 50's or before. You can also get a plug that goes into a light bolb socket that you attach your appliance cable to. The lights should be on a 5 amp ring, (in the UK) so your drill may blow the fuse.

APPARENTLY THIS GUY IS BAD AT READING AND WORSE AT DEDUCING COMMON SENSE, WHICH WAS A THING BACK BEFORE THE INTERNET. It's PAINFULLY obvious what the medicine dropper was intended to do, which was not function like a straw or wick, it's SOLID METAL! It requires viscosity, surface tension, gravity...and as the instructions said...tilting the bottle MANUALLY so the fluid moves down the wire first. Geezus.

Thinking that putting the wire through a cork and inverting it may be the key

The "neutral" in a single phase system is not a neutral, it's a return. It's not to balance the load as in a current carrying conductor in a three-phase system.

I have a hot dog cooker from I believe the 1940s or early 1950s, It's bare wire and a metal container, insulated with his bestest and runs straight out to 120 volt plug. It has a momentary push button to complete the circuit. It cooks hot dogs in about a second

I love those lanterns I have 10 of them as outside ornaments during the Christmas time. I use lantern fuel in them and I would not recommend desal because it would probably soot the glass. Please give that lantern some love and care it deserves it after working perfectly after several years of neglect.
