This was such a great video. Having lost my dad in July, he also was a Vietnam Veteran. I never really knew much about what he went through because he never talked about it. It was only after his passing that I learned so much more about an already great person. Thank you to all the Vets out there and I know when my dad got to the pearly gates, they said "Welcome Home".

Awesome video. During my military career anytime we returned from a deployment, there was always a group of Vietnam Vets welcoming us home. They didn't want any soldiers to feel unwanted. To be treated they way they were when they came home.

Thanks! It really is an interesting hop, I’m really enjoying it!
@grahamhawes70892 жыл бұрын
That sounds really good. I may have to do a Mexican Lager with some flaked corn and Motueka. I just started fermenting a Kolsch with some Mandarina Bavaria at flameout - kind of a similar strategy of getting some citrus into a pale beer!
@greggleblanc27252 жыл бұрын
Cheers to your dad and thanks for his service (my Dad is also a Vietnam Vet) And coincidentally I just brewed a golden ale with motueka hops. My recipe was very similar to yours, I just fermented with an ale yeast. Was my first time using motueka hops and that lime flavor really does come through!
@ElementaryBrewingCo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! A golden ale sounds great too! Maybe next time I’ll brew up a split batch and make one a lager and the other an ale. What yeast did you use?
@greggleblanc27252 жыл бұрын
@@ElementaryBrewingCo A split batch taste comparison would be a great idea! For my ale yeast I just used good 'ol US-05.

I have some saaz on hand and I don't have motueka but I'd like to try this I bet saaz in the middle of the boil and late as well would probably be a very nice combination with the motueka

I'm finally going to make this beer. How many ounces of motueka did you use? Somehow I cant quite catch it in the video
Each time I see you brew you mention distilled water, but some of the 5 gallon jugs say primo water. Is your primo water distilled or the primo filtered purified water? Thanks for the answer as I'd like to use brewing salts while using primo water
@ElementaryBrewingCo2 жыл бұрын
I get my water delivered from Sparkletts/Alhambra (it’s like the Culligan man). I get both RO and distilled. We drink the RO water and I brew with the distilled. The only difference in bottles is the label on top that says either RO or distilled.

Do you know of a company that I can order online for brewing ingredients without $8 shipping? I wanted to try making a Bohemian pilsner but it's super expensive. Northern Brewer is crazy outrageous. Something like $35 for just the basemalt and $8 for shipping
@ElementaryBrewingCo2 жыл бұрын
Northern Brewer has free shipping if you spend over $49. I also order from MoreBeer and they do free shipping over $59. Although sometimes 50lb bags of grain don’t qualify for free shipping because of size and weight. But both companies sell in smaller portions than 50lbs for most grains. If you’ve got a Homebrew store close it might make sense to get grains from them. My “local” Homebrew store is a 50 minute drive each way so I usually just order online but for things like large bags of grain or liquid yeast in the summer sometimes it just makes more sense to make the drive up there. Cheers 🍻
@frankjames62762 жыл бұрын
Well.. to be fair. You made it as an American pilsner, But it fits the NZ Pilsner style guideline. At least you pronounced Motueka better than many :)
@ElementaryBrewingCo2 жыл бұрын
True, true 🤣 I always thought NZ Pils was a little on the hoppier side too. Either way, it’s very drinkable and almost everybody that’s tried it likes it, it may be a constant on tap here!
@frankjames62762 жыл бұрын
@@ElementaryBrewingCo they vary quite a bit. I enjoy Riwaka as a finishing hop myself, but Motueka is pretty tasty too. But always good to see brew content!
