It's a nice gimmick but that housing is obviously VERY IMPRACTICAL as it even covers up a lot of the front of the printer which would make the daily tasks of reaching into it or viewing all parts of it very inconvenient and annoying. This will not be staying on your printer long-term, I can almost guarantee it.

TBH this is the type of prints that make the most sense. Sure it's only cosmetic, but is a great way to make something fit your personal taste and be just more fun to look at.

TBH this is the type of prints that make least sense. Printing mods, especially those that are mostly for the look, to your printer is giving you no external value of your printer. Buying a machine to create stuff just to create stuff for the machine....

@@drosendahl besides the fact the company could have included it in the first place (increasing the cost), it actually makes a lot of sense. Nothing wrong adding modifications to a printer to suit your needs.

I am looking at the Bambu printers, the X1 Carbon and the P1P, can't really decide which one I'd like as I have seen reviews kind of being back and forth on both of them. Obviously, the price on the P1P is very attractive. Great video UJ!

This would motivate anyone to want to 3dprint with this p1p just by the looks of this mod! Beautiful! i also have the p1p new in the box but i am new to 3d printing and i would like to print this but i think i would prob fail at my first try since i know nothing about settings etc.... i am watching videos to understand what tools do what. Is this a file you can just print in bambu studio without adjusting any settings and just setting it as pla filament or do i have to mess with the settings and speed or standard is fine? btw that white pla looks sooo clean! what brands did you use?

For the money, is the Bambu labs or Ankermate better?
@morbus5726
@morbus5726 Жыл бұрын
i think unclejessy was going to do a comparison video about it. imo, even though the p1p is cheaper by $100, spec wise, it outperforms the anker in every way, I would get that one. Bambu also has a great facebook community with over 10k members, and a discord and reddit community with over 5k each.
@Geoff_W
@Geoff_W Жыл бұрын
Ankermake has more features than the p1p, and arguably better hardware, the p1p is faster and has WAY better software, and it's CoreXY which is more stable. Honestly it's kind of a toss up. If you are new to 3d printing, the Ankermake probably fits your bill better. Once you know a little more what you are doing, the p1p makes a lot more sense.
@morbus5726
@morbus5726 Жыл бұрын
@@Geoff_W what features does the anker have over the p1p? The ai spaghetti detection doesn't count, as it is completely broken. The p1p has an all metal hotend, has linear rods instead of v wheels, is fully assembled (more so than the m5), is much much faster (8x faster accelerations, 2x faster max speed), has a bigger bed, and has a larger community. The anker does have a camera, but you can add one to the p1p, and still have the total price be less than the m5.
@Geoff_W
@Geoff_W Жыл бұрын
@@morbus5726 The bottom of the M5 is almost entirely solid aluminum, which does a better job of reducing vibration then the p1p's plastic and sheet metal construction is capable of. The hardware is also more repairable, using entirely consumer parts you can get and replace relatively inexpensively, that require less maintenance over time. If Bambu fails next year, you can't GET replacement parts. Those rails you mentioned? They need to be lubed, and are going to be a pain in the ass after a while because they are not easy to access. The wheels are a few screws. Easy. The M5 is also quieter than the p1p, has better part cooling than the p1p, and yes, has an HD camera, which you can't actually buy for the p1p. The p1p's camera is crap. The Anker slicer also seems to be WAY friendlier to newbies. They don't care about tweaking, they want to pick a thing and hit print and have it print...and it does that better. Like I said, Bambu's software and the p1p is absolutely better for experienced people, it's clearly superior, but for a printer that serves as an introduction to 3d printing, the M5 is honestly better at that, in my opinion. Also the Ankermake community is smaller because they literally delivered their printers like...3 weeks ago? Of course it's smaller. That's an idiotic metric for whether or not to purchase hardware.
@morbus5726
@morbus5726 Жыл бұрын
@@Geoff_W the p1p is all welded steel, I wouldn't say that's to flimsy. How is the ankermake more repareable? It also uses a ton of proprietary parts, and currently, offers a lot less than bambu in the shop. The m5 is extremely loud, like the p1p, due to the cooling, which is not better. Two small 3010 fans do not provide more cooling than a 5015 with a massive 90mm aux fan. I wouldn't say the anker is easier to use at all. You have to manually adjust the z, and slicer settings are terrible. The slicer is also terribly optimized, and crashes regularly. everyone I've seen with an anker and bambu prefers the bambu by far. I'm not saying the anker is a bad printer, but its silly to argue that it has better hardware than the p1p.
